How well does this watch do with moisture and the elements? I sweat more than your average runner, and I also run in heavy rain and sometimes through sections of trail with up to 3 foot water crossings and don't want to destroy such an expensive training watch or have it die on me in the middle of a run and lose track of my pace/distance.
ronarts2005... you need the foot pod if you want to run indoors, on a treadmill, or I suppose if you run through forests the canopy could be so thick it could block the gps signal?
@ronarts2005 you won't need the foot pod. The foot pod is for areas where GPS reception is weak, but this is a high sensitivity GPS so you should be ok unless you're doing something like running on an indoor track on a lower level floor of a building
I'm confused... i'm new to this kinda GPS devices and i'm interested in using this. I used some other device which didn't work when i got sweaty. Crap.. hate it.. But with this, is it water resistant? Do i need a foot pod if i wanna run outside all the time. In the gym, i really don't need that, for i have the t.mill to let me know the time, pace, speed. so besides it recording the distance do i need to get a foot pod? Any suggestion guys? Do i get this model or do I wait for the 405CX?
The 405CX is already out. I've read elsewhere that the 405's have the same problem of not working well when sweaty. Also that there is poor GPS signal at times in the obvious areas but that the 405CX doesn't have these problems. Anyone know if that's true as I'm thinking of getting one but being put off the 405 because of what I've read.
Don't put it off. It is an excellent watch worked awesome througha 10 mile trail race through the back country snow, overflowing creeks under tree canopy the whole time. Perfect GPS watch
What do you press just to start a random run & what to stop it. I tested this watch ran a 10k & after I crossed the finish line it tracked me walking all the way back to the car & ruined my upload.
I know how to set a 10 k & do workout but I just want simple instructions on how to stop start this watch.
i found this watch on the street nd took it home nd never touched it lol i fell stupid tht i had a 200 dollor watch

Nice to see Garmin is taking care of existing customers by making the new version compatable with the accessories that are already out there.

I really like the backtrack feature for those of us that go exploring on runs. My old Forerunner has saved me twice in cold weather. Time to upgrade!
