  • I read Nobuo Uematsu wrote this in 10 minutes flat, because Square said, at the last minute, they needed some kind of intro, which they had not foreseen. They were maybe a week before production/shipping. Nobuo was like "chill guys, I got this."

  • I really hated FFXIII, and no one cant come here and tell me that i'm not a real fan, because i am, i really love the whole serie in general, but that doesnt mean im going to blindly worship every single game

  • @gabrielenriquez You seriously aren't only one. I know around 20, including myself, FF fans that didn't like FFXIII. I didn't even like FFXII. FFX was probably the last game that i actually ENJOYED playing. X-2 was okay but it was way too different from the other FF games.

  • @MP9220 It's the same basic scale over and over again, to write this all he had to do was: sit at w/e instrument he is best at and play a scale. Then he chose which key he wanted to play in. Voila, you have a fricking awsome prelude :D

  • I'm already 26 years old, I played all the FF games in the main series, and listening to this track still draws tears from my eyes, really.

    It is like one of those things that's so beautiful that it makes your heart ache.

  • Does anyone skilled in sheet music know how you can write this kind of melody without raising everything one pitch all the time? =P

    It looks really messy when you start with the low notes and go up four pitches.

    Can't you just write "Pitch+1" or something above the notes instead and refer them to the first pitch? If anything that would've been much more convenient.

  • I have decided to play this game. I've always been a big Final Fantasy fan, and I love every game of the franchise that I own or have owned (VIII, IX, X and even XIII). I'd love to finish every main game from the franchise, simply because they're all wonderful in their own unique way - different from the other games, but still that famous Final Fantasy touch.

    Wish me luck, I've been doing research, apparently #1 of the series is one of the most arcane and difficult FF games. But I will persist!

  • The prelude just tells you that there is an epic adventure waiting to begin. And all you have to do? Why, just press start and select new game, my freinds.

  • Prelude and Final Fantasy (the music, not the series) are pretty much the series theme songs. They've been present is just about every FF game out there.

    I hear this and think about FF being a legend and being told as a story.

  • @TheCasjerem Y'know, that reminds me. When I was younger, I sometimes thought about taking the best videogames and telling their plots as stories. :) Final Fantasy would be a great example. I also liked the idea of telling the "Ocarina of Time" story, too.

  • @TGamersFB Don't get me wrong, I actually do love the Final Fantasy XIII title screen music. A lot. In fact, all the game's music is brilliant. It's a bit of a shame, though, to lack those classic themes like prelude and victory fanfare... but they DID do a great job with the soundtrack, (Boss theme is one of my favourites so far) so I'm ok with it.

  • A very soothing piece of music. Somewhat balances the game's demanding courses with this.

    This is the best music soundtrack I've heard so far. TOTALLY AMAZING.

  • This is the original theme: I'm pretty sure they didn't have the after 43 extension until IV. And why are you talking about XIV??? XIII hasn't even come out yet, lol! They've had the prelude in every Numeralled FF game, but I THINK IV was the first one with an extension. Please correct me if I am wrong, because I'd like to know also. Oh, and could somebody PLEASE tell me when the prelude plays in each game??? No serious spoilers, please. :P Thanks!!!

  • It plays in just about every Final Fantasy game to date, and is always (I think) played in the menu screen at the beginning where it says New Game, Load Game and Continue.

    It's also the song that plays in the special rooms of Final Fantasy V. I'm not sure about the first extended version of it being in FFIV, but it was definitely in V. I may be wrong about that, though.

  • I think only FFX didn't have this playing in the beginning. It did play in the beginning of the game, though, in a more joyful sound to it.

  • If you're referring to the lack of a strings section, then FF2, FF3 and FF11 have that too.

  • The only problem I have with this song: as lovely as it is, it is impossible to sing or to hum, because of how many octaves it covers.

  • I miss the idea of FF1, it wasnt grandiouse plots or schemes, just a simple "get the mystical items, save the world" story

  • I agree and disagree. I enjoy how Final Fantasy's story is simple, but mythic and interesting at the same time. It's the actual actions of the characters: killing monsters, traveling, and the rest is left to players' imaginations.

    They still had ambition with the time travel plot which is interesting, sort of makes sense, and, most importantly, doesn't take a bunch of bullshit to develop: show up in towns "Oh shit the fiends fucked shit up!" and then you are free, no cutscene bullshit
