I like your short and to the point videos thanks for the info as im just trying to find a dj name that someone does not already have :-) Dj Ozz AKA Dj Ozzick
I agree with kagenooni here. If you are in the rave scene, you don't get paid much at all. If I'm doing a private party gig like a frat party, I charge $50/hr (I'm just starting out here). Whereas if I do a 1-hour slot at a rave/dance party at some underground thing, I am very lucky to be paid half that.
It's the economy. Nobody can afford to come out to parties where I'm from... It's just too hard on their wallets. It's hard on ALL of our wallets...
Starting DJs in the rave scene and certain clubs don't even get paid to go out. There is a huge influx of DJs, and until your name means something, you don't get paid shit.
Luckily my management company gets me $150-200/hour depending on the event I'm spinning at... plus a 15% booking fee.
just kiddin, the best way to start djin in gigs is chargin very little, to gain experience, its very different to be a bedroom dj than to be a gig dj and its also very different in being a club dj... its all about experience
Every party is different and so every price is different. Good advice about passing on the rental cost of the equipment to the client because after all you are being hired for you TALENT! Why should a speaker or an amp make as much money as you? It's not like they can spin the tunes :) KNOW WHAT YOU ARE WORTH! but most of all, BE WHAT YOUR WORTH!!!! A veggie platter for 200 ppl cost 4 - $600 should you get paid as much as broccoli? "BE BETTER THAN BROCCOLI" from Mark Ferrel and the "Worth Tour"
Thanks for all the responses. I didn't even realize E.Village posted these videos. Defiantly very Basic topics ;-)
