More broadly, Om is said to be the primordial sound that was present at the creation of the universe. It is said to be the original sound that contains all other sounds, all words, all languages and all mantras.
aummm... ommm the original Amennnnn .... shalommmnnnn ... to take it one step deeper bring the tongue to the roof of the mouth and turn it into a hummmmnnnn vibrating all the resonaters in your head and sinues and let it massage your whole nervous system... activating the pituatary gland and the pineal gland oh yesss... getting into that vibration is blisssssss.... with love .... namaste' Sadie... thank you for your offerings <3
As Im just learning about the Om vibration, I've been doing the Om practice for two months now and I must say the energy is continuously growing. Right after my yoga, I go into it and then into silent meditation.
you seem awesome. ohm is one of the most amazing things to me it everytime i use it, it just send this incredible feeling throughout my entire body. I have yet to find another person who lives around me that is into meditation and yoga and things like that it seems to me it would be a much more posotive feeling if i had people to do those things with do you know of any sites to search for meditation and yoga groups?
Om the primordial ancient vibration of the universe. The begining of all things and the end. The tiniest oscillation between atoms. The enrgy behind all living things and then yet, it is nothing at all. Om.
Hey Sadie! I was just wondering what type of camera you use. I need one that doesn't blur when I move my hands and head because I was going to start a make up tutorial website. And the one I have is garbage ($80). I'd appreciate the input! Thanks!
I use a Sony handycam, but I just loaned it to someone so I'm not sure of the model. It's an HD and connects to my computer. Was about $250, and worth it.
I also know that Om supposedly contains everything, and that it is also formed in the back of the mouth ending with closing your lips. (from begin to end or your mouth).
Recently I started meditating, and I'd like it to include this Om chanting... But I dont really undertand how one does that. Is it simply repeating the word Om, or does it also have to do with melody or something?
Inhale deeply, and sing Om in a monotone of your choice, beginning with O until your breath runs out and you're at M. Sing it one, three times, or as many as you wish. The traditional note is a B flat, but any note will do. Or, sing different notes for each OM or in a scale, because the spectrum of sound heals in different ways. Ooooooooohhhhhhmmmmmm. or Aaaaaauuuuuummmm are both great ways to sing it. Enjoy! xoSadie
I really like how you said that the "spectrum of sound heals". I'm a singer, and I'm also very interested in Music Therapy. Do you know of any great resources (books, videos, etc) that touch on that "healing" aspect of sound?
I read some interesting info about sound in "Meditation as Medicine: Activate the Power of Your Natural Healing Force" by M.D., Dharma Singh Khalsa and Cameron Stauth. Singing the scale for 23 minutes caused cancer cells to die! Check out books on Naam Yoga too--they use a lot of singing and vibration to heal. Let me know if you find a good one!! xosadie
Hi Sadie, Just finished watching all of your recent videos and as I have expressed in the past I really appreciate your sharing your knowledge, experience, ideas, and skills with all of us. You always seem to be having fun and I usually learn something from each video. Having said that, I do feel (and think that you know) that OM and the chanting of OM is ( or can be) a much deeper meaning and experience for people seeking union with the universe. Does that make some sense.
I agree that OM can have as deep a meaning as you wish to put into it. If you want it to be nothing, it will be nothing. If you want it to be something, then it will. The whole point of this video is to show that the OM is the "Universal Sound", which means that it is a neutral essence, there for the forming and creation of each person who sings it....[continued below]
Union with the Universe is already complete, since in yogic philosophy, you are an inextricable part of the universe. Om helps you express your unique offering of the energy you already are. So if you want it to be fun, it's as valid a part of that union and expression as if you choose it to be, well...Universal;) It's all up to you.
you're so welcome! I didn't sing it for years because I didn't know what the heck it meant. I don't say or sing stuff I don't understand. Now that I do, it's pretty cool, and I wanted to share;) OOOOOM!
