Nope, sorry Patty, courageous attempt but Waits owns this one in every respect. But if you like to sing it, by all means do so. The sound quality here doesn't help, though. As for going off key, the original hits bum notes often, but it never seems to matter with him.

Not a good cover at all. Tom Waits is the only human creature capable of singing this song as it should be heard . If you are looking for pretty , look elsewhere , Toms an angel but he's never gonna sound like one there's more to his songs than the sadness and the beauty . there is truth and you can't cover that , ever .
