thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you for posting this! it must have been epic, being there. i wish i'd been there so bad. i watched the whole thing from my living room couch and kept telling anyone who walked by, 'we should've gone, we should've gone...thats history.'
What time did you get to your spot? I was very close to that jumbotron on the left at Ninth St, got there at 6:45 a.m. and didn't move for over 5.5 hours.
I drove to the Branch Avenue Metro and was in line all the way out to the beltway for a half-hour, parking at 5:15 a.m. $4 on the way IN single-file, what a bitch!
Then buffet breakfast at the Holiday Inn on C St near L'Enfant Plaza Metro, where I saw the HUGE crowds on TV in the dark! Hustled west on Independence past Air/Space, check points NOT OPEN...the to the gates at the Haupt Gardens (old castle), which were open in the DARK, and from where you were up to the jumbotron on 9th.
Was this your first time in DC on the Metro? (We locals don't say "train" unless it's VRE, MARC or Amtrak. Our subway is just "The Metro" or "Metro." Metrobus is just "the bus," same as any ole city.)
I've been to a lot of Inaugurations in DC and this was the first one with any ethnic flavuh.
I hope it's a sign of good things to come for our country.

"..oh, I just remembered! He's black too! ... ... ..oh yeah Dog!"
Best sentiment of the day; and the people around you were quiet and respectful and LAUGHED with you!
The spontaneous songs, cheers, jeers and verse added to the spirit of the moment, I think.
For the record, I did not hear Kumbaya one time.
