I completely agree that these cars were popular until the economic boom around the 00's. Although the boom is a good thing, I always think it spoiled all the fun because small cars are no longer any priority and the attitudes of owning anything are mimicking those of large world economies (cars are becoming uninteresting tools or symbols of status).

the tico is a perfect city car. go ahead buy a fuckin" american car with minim 8 cylinders ,5000cm3, with cable tv ,bathroom,and a big bad -and pay rents 20 years ,and vith a galon of gas maybe you go 10 km or less.... sory for my bad english . we dont need big cars in small citys.

cars in the US started getting ridiculous in the 1990s, but now (since gas is becoming more expensive and everyone is poorer), people drive smaller cars. keep in mind that 1000km is not a long distance here, since everything in suburbia is far from people's homes. That's partly why cars in the US are generally larger than in europe.
I own a tico for 12 years.. over 250 000 km made.. on any kind of road posible.. can't compare it with any car. it has a uniq style .............. I'm proud to have a TICO. :)

It's supposed to be a joke - I realize this car is a steaming pile of shit. - You seem to be from the US so I can't blame you for thinking it's a pile of shit, but actually if you buy a car to get you from A to B, it's a great car. Very good reliability and fuel economy and tiny price. Then again if you only consider a car to be good if it has a V8 (w/ probably 120-130 HP) and is bigger than 2 VW Golfs solded together (american philosophy), then this one is shitty. yeah, i am from the US. i do actually enjoy driving it, but it would be silly to drive this car in the US because people routinely drive a combined 200 km every day to get work, home, stores, etc (if you don't live in a big city). a small car like this would be ridiculously uncomfortable. american cars have been getting much smaller, though, since the economy sucks now and gas is not as cheap. most new cars are 4-cylinder (~150 HP) or V6 (200-350 HP in a mustang).
this is the best car for a rookie driver, i have riving license for a year, and i have a 96 Tico SX, the best, teh cultch is awsome, and in the back i have 2 160W sound system:D 41 hoursepower, awsome

daewoo's Tico. is a great car, i did cross over the country on it, is really cheap and dependable. is not the more fasten on the way but you can go where ever you want...

I drive a 2.0 Turbodiesel Volvo or a 1.6 Audi A4. They're perfectly fine... I've no need for a Mustang or a Caprice...
