  • Comment removed

  • ah yeah initially bowie was gonna be on backing vocals but they decided against it. loving this video, cheers!

  • Just to tell everyone this is queen so friddie is singing not tht other dude ok thanks

  • Great Bass!

  • Comment removed

  • @papatach Well... since this version is only available on early pressings of the vinyl its possible that when it was digitized the LP was going slightly faster than 33 1/3

  • When funk loves rock...a new life is born.

  • wataload of shit from bowie stupidfool

  • FREDDIES BIRTHDAY IS SEPTEMBER FIFTH EVERYONE WATCH BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY

  • david bowie and freddie mercury. the duke and the great pretender singing together. what can be more better than that?

  • @kjsh987 duke, my eyelash.David Bowie is the EMPEROR. The Thin White frickin' EMPEROR

  • yeaaach...so cool..

  • Though I see why Bowie wanted to have his part cut out, it's still interesting to hear the early version. Thanks for posting!

  • never heard this version. cool indeed!

  • good bass

  • i love it pure master i dont know why nobody ever talks about this song

  • wow what an amazing song !

  • It's like queen mated w/ bee gees smokey &miracles and the 4 seasons. very good voice crazy good and and fairly good rapping for '81 nice flow bowie. man these dudes wanted 2 mix it all up. that riff seems familar can't place it.

  • At 1:20 it sounds like Snoop Dogg is rapping

  • @soadlova That is exactly what I thought! :-)

  • At 2:20 it sounds like Snoop Dogg is rapping

  • Freddie sounds amazing! This could have been a huge hit but I guess it was never released as a single. Love it!

  • I must agree with Bowie - his backing vocals suck balls here and just detract from the goody parts. On the other hand, Freddie's voice sounds even better then in the final track. Go figure!

  • this is the way it shoulda been on the album!

  • hey, justin bieber listen up; now this is singing!

  • Their vocals were the absolute PERFECT match, Fred's high's and Bowie's low's were a match made in R&R heaven.

  • cooool

  • oddio troppo bella, amo questa canzone e quella notte che e stata composta!!!

  • mmm Im doubting about.. if his falsetto.. is higed up... It seems to be the same of the album version but edited

  • @nyto2 it's the demo version

  • I can listen this song thousand times :)))

  • I haven't read all the comments for this song so apologies if I've got this wrong BUT.....this version of the song is ever so slightly speeded up so Fred's voice does sound a little altered and higher than the original. However.....the original's pure, unadulterated Freddie!

  • @MrFixit1983 Nope, its all his falsetto

  • I haven't read all the comments for this song so apologies if I've got this wrong BUT.....this version of the song is ever so slightly speeded up so Fred's voice does sound a little altered and higher than the original. However.....the original's pure, unadulterated Freddie!

And on the Bowie note, I quite like it :-)

  • no bowie at all...but it doesn`t matter, freddie is the better singer anyway

  • @Romanacer there's bowie on the demo figure it up man

  • Previous comments suggest that Bowie is just going 'bum, bum, bum'. Remember that sampling was around for those who could afford it then. It's obvious that Queen (probably Freddie) used a single Bowie 'bum' for that part. I'll leave you with that thought..........

  • what does falsetto mean?

  • @LazyCheeseburger, Falsetto is a high pitched voice. Easy to do if you slow the music down for the recording then put it back to normal after (Like here). Have to be careful not to chipmunk it though. Bowie refused to allow this to be released.

  • i would like Fredddie Mercury and Bowie to say together in sync

  • the beat of my heart.... ahhhhh...... I would want to hear Freddie alive but this is impossible.... :'-((((

  • unique combination of musicians!

  • Incredible song! but why it's pitched-up? -_- the original tone is better -_-

  • Queen are the cool cats with Bowie getting the cream!

Just wish they had done more..............

  • F A N T A S T I C !!!!!!!!!!!!

    MARAVILHA!

  • John Deacon = THE MAN !

    have to say no more....

  • I wish that Queen and David Bowie made a whole album instead of just relasing the one song on Hot Space.

  • hot space is as cool as the cat

  • i like this version even better.

  • Don't be so stupid! Bowie's a God but going "bum, bum, bum" over a song just because You're David Bowie is just lazy, rubbish and ridiculous!

  • @bartlettandbosc , he possibly (probably!) had better things to do. Bowie requested that his vocals be removed from this track if it was to be released. The whole thing is ridiculous, & typically Freddie, bless the guy :) It's just not Queen or Bowie, is it??

  • @MalquiLans Don't get me wrong. I LOVE this song! It's one of my all time favorite Queen tunes! It's good to know Bowie had the common sense to enforce a "no fly zone" on his track in the song. I shall hasten to add, mind, that NO WAY is Freddie's voice "chipmonked" in this recording and i'm quite sure Queen did not sit around a mixing desk saying "let's just sample that one "bum" David did and and put it all over the song" like a group of kids playing on a sampler in a school music room.

  • that cat sure is cool

  • ...but the red & navy

  • DELICIOUS!!!!!

  • This version was to appear on a Bowie album called " Glitter" but he didn't like the song and had a bit of a falling out with Mercury. He released the album Scary Monsters

  • Love Freddie's faulsetto

  • Where's Bowie??

  • pomp pomp pomp pomp....

  • he's burping in the background

  • Mika, tu che ti paragoni a Freddie..ascolta e impara!!!

  • Perché non hanno messo questa versione in HOT SPACE? Fantastica.

  • Bowie think when hear the song aren't not good as he want

  • Brilliant! This is one of my favorite Queen songs even though it's little known - I had not heard this version before.

  • 3.07 !!!!!!!!!!!!! So Good !!!!!!!

  • okay, that's it; to hell with the violins, i'm getting myself a bass!

  • For those who were wondering, this version wasn't released because Bowie wasn't quite happy with it.

  • funny! its actually cute!!! is that freddie mercury?! OMG!!!! and DAVID!!!

  • It's falsetto. Freddie was a master of the voice. It's very difficult to sing in falsetto.

    Cheers

  • Great song! Queen rocks!

    creamydistortion really SUCKS!

  • Bum bum bum... bum bum bum bum.. bum bum bum bum....

God why did it not get released liek that? It was so catchy.

  • If you scream at the top of your lungs in high pitch, is that still falsetto, or do you have to not be screaming?

  • whoa cc!!

  • Wow, amazing to hear it with David Bowies voice in the backgrund. It's like a whole new song.

  • oh yeah you are a fukin USA

  • Freddie's falsetto is fuckin fab.

  • what is falsetto

  • do u know the voice u make when u pet a dog?

like: oh look its so cute!!!

if u get me... thats a falseto

  • thanks

  • lolz thts a good example!

  • lol yeah XD

thats how my teacher xplained to me.

and i get it really fast XD

  • Not only is his falsetto incredible... but he had the best range of any vocalist I've encountered!

  • Maybe this was not falsetto. Could Freddie get up that high with his regular voice?

  • go see impromptu live at wembley... then you'll see if he cant do it ;-)

  • impromptu is wonderful

  • @beans909 YES YES YES!!!

  • is it me or is this one a bit faster than the official?

  • yes you'r right

  • The tone is higher

  • whoever David Fuller is, Thank you so much for these posts.

  • not the potency that´s not important, but yeah the melodic sound, he is a kittie in this song the best voice in the best man, he wanted to do it more acute to remark more the difference between bowie and him, and he definitely did it.

  • do you have the song? where can i get it?

  • is this really freddie?

  • Yeah it is a bit yeah

  • My friend and I were driving along to and Elton John/Billy Joel concert a few days ago listenin to my iPod on random. This song came on and my friend shouts "WHY DO YOU HAVE PORN MUSIC ON YOUR IPOD?!?!" he didn't know this was Queen..gotta love em XD. I think it's a great song. Not their best but hey...still rocks!

  • I saw you posted this exact comment (minus a space) on the other "Cool Cat" video.

  • ya I did. it really wasn't gettin any reads or anythin over here so I copied and pasted it to the other one to see if people would read it more there.

  • Well, at least I know of your friends thinking you have porno music. That's one point for you

  • thanks man. that's one tater for my tot.

  • This is one of Freddies best vocals ever on an underrated album - im glad they kept an innefective bowie off this song

  • :Feeling the beat of my hear, yea yea....."

  • i like this version better :)

  • Mmm... Queen+Jazz=Stupendous! :D

  • what a great song

  • You better slow down.

    YES, cool cat cool song

  • Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum

  • You're speeding too fast

    Slow down Slow down...

    You'd better slow down!

  • You used to be a mean kid...

Ooh, making such a deal of life

.... I used to know that (I used to know that)

Ooh, you were wishing and hoping and waiting to really hit the big time....

  • You really know how to set the mood

And you really get inside the groove

    Cool cat!

  • Right there. Such a deal.

You know your comment saved me today.

    You are the title.

    Happy New Start...

    JEff

  • WOW!

    Glad to know!

    ...cause I'm the cool cat...

Best wishes and a Happy New Year

    Aiwala

  • sounds damn cooL !

  • bowie was right... thanx david...great song without him

  • I can see why Dave asked for his vocals to be taken out, they were superfluous and took away from the song. It wasn't a complete loss though, if Dave hadn't come to record this, we might not have had "Under Pressure"

  • bought this album waaay back 81? awesome is queen...

  • Freddies vocals sound better on this version than the album version I think.

  • they are the same as the album version they only removed Bowies vocals... idiot

  • Calm down. It sounded like a demo or something, especially as this audio is a little faster than the album version.

  • your right im just foaming out the mouth

  • I love this song !!!

  • Ooh you used to be a mean kid

Ooh making such a deal of life

Ooh you were wishing and hoping and waiting

To really hit the big time

But did it happen? happen no!

You're speeding to fast slow down

Slow down you'd better slow down slow down

    Com certeza a melhor estrofe!

    Minha predileta!

  • good job david! vocally u're great in this song, ba ba ba ba ba... great performance comparing with that A4 note that freddie can reach...ma vaffanculo david

  • dici bn!!!XD

  • ;)..dai ma non t fa ridere?:)

  • si e anke tanto...:) Proprio un duetto tra due cantanti dello stesso livello!!!!XD

  • what a fucking bass .... john deacon is good !!

  • it's a cool song,but's i weird with bowie in the backround......

  • bowie in the backround is hilarious, like... rapping. ahaha.

  • His voice on this version is much higher than the released version

    I love it!

  • Bowie is totally unnecesary here. That's good that they erased his vocal because it didn't add anything to the song and it would look like an attempt to get more sales by adding Bowie's name to the credits. If there is something that I like on this version, it is the longer fadeout (always nice to hear couple of NEW seconds of Queen music...).

  • It was Bowie that decided to take it out according to wikipedia. I guess even he thought it was weird.

  • I love Hot Space. I don't see what all the fuss is about.

  • I must be a odd queen fan cuz ,Hot space is my fave album, & I love Bowie, This is a real treat, ur top cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Imaculados!

  • bum bum bong!. no actually bowie sings or raps on this version quite good

  • OH I wasn't trying to be mean I'm just saying. And your certainly right they sure did co write this song and it's wonderful.

  • john NEVER sang

  • Sometimes he sang live.

  • Technically, this is the original cut, recorded at the same time as Under Pressure. Freddie and Deacy wrote it, and it's Freddie alone on the final version. Cheers =]

  • cover?

  • meow

  • Freddie and Queen just never cease to amaze me! Believe for a moment you have heard all Freddie was capeable of and be surprised by something as priceless as this! Such a versatile and creative singer!

  • thats realy great song

  • zajebioza prawdziwy MOTOWN!

    Its true motown SOUL!!!

  • TOTALMENTE SENSACIONAL!

  • Freddie Mercury sounds awesome, but i wish Bowie would of sang a little more...

  • LOL, Queen is better than the Beatles, I'm sure and the Beatles never achieved as much as Queen and will never do, at least as far as I can calculate.

  • You can't calculate much it seems.

  • Dont get me wrong, Im a massive queen fan but the Beatles have roughly sold 6 times the albums Queen has, the Beatles are the biggest sellers period. I wouldnt dare say they are better, I prefer Queen music my self.

  • This album was panned by the critics but what the fuck do they know.

This album showed the versatility and brilliance of the only band to come close to the beatles.

  • Jesus this is incredible, but damn Freddie's voice...wow?

  • If im not mistaken this song was also intended for freddie to sing with michael jackson, somebody correct me if im wrong

  • Freddie made a few songs with Jackson, but nothing having to do with Cool Cat. One of them was called Victory and it was intended for Hot Space but it wasn't completed.

  • thanks dave u are the greatest info on queen around! i was totally into queen growing up saw them in 77 and the last freddie concert at irvine meadows in 82 greatest band ever

  • this song is the shit....i love it!!!

  • the two greatest singers ever together :D

  • How do you get this stuff Dave???

  • Maaaj Gaad never heard Freddie sing like this. Sounds like a girl :D

  • Bloody hell, I thought I'd never hear this! Thank you so much!!!

  • Hot Space! Cool

  • is it really Freddie singin'? it's really high vocals, sounds like a woman's voice! cool song though

  • freddy's voice is the best

  • yeah, of course it's his voice, I can hear that now, and oh my, his voice in this song just blows my mind!:O awesome!

  • it's high????

  • I like to sing this with Freddie exceot that i can't hit teh very last notes when teh song is over. Would i have been 14 year old again.. What a voice Freddie!

  • Very interesting. It's always cool to hear songs in their original form.

  • Loving David's vocs on this track, never heard this version before. Very Cool!!!

  • Sexy!!!

  • where can i get this song from??
