I actually took a look at the list of cars that are considered "clunkers". Now, I'm not going to run all these cars to see how much they are worth (I have too much time on my hands, but not that much) but I'd be willing to bet at least half of those cars are worth more than the $4500 you get.

As with most things this government is doing as part as the stimulus, it is a rip off. But, it's not my car getting traded in so it doesn't matter to me.

The government isn't trying to make people turn in cars worth more than $4500, thats why when kbb, a real company did a good video, they said to check the resale value of your car before looking into this program. But edmunds is full of biased reviewers that post stupid videos.

I'm not saying that the government is forcing anyone to take the deal, but there are plenty of stupid people who won't check the value of their car and the government is going to do very little to remind them. It is also a ripoff because I doubt we will see $3billion (or however much) worth of economic stimulation and the pollution of scrapping old cars and building new cars could out weigh the pollution of keeping the old cars (I don't know, I'm not a scientist).
