The supra ran more than half a second slower spinning almost the whole track, but still had 7mph on the queermaro. The supra is a much faster car. Supra heavier Im sure of it. Camaro has more than a motor, betting a whole lot of chassis tuning also. Couple nice rides. Supra has the mph over the Camaro just has to get it to the ground.

You really should learn to do that stuff yourself, It will save you a fortune in the long run. You gotta remember, people have been racing V8's forever now there are used parts galore. Just hang out at a strip or a dirt track and you'll soon meet somebody that has what you want for cheap. I've seen 8-71's go for less$1500, A 454 can be had for ~$500-$700

Besides that if 5k is an issue then drag racing is not the sport for you. sure a supra may be able to make 700 peak hp on a dyno cheaper than a V8. but compare the torque bands and you'll see why people use the V8. Both can be fast, its really about what your ultimate goal is and how much time and money your willing to put into it.

Jump forward to $5k in total mods and I'm making 600whp (previous mods plus a used single turbo and injectors). Thats why Supras are so popular. The Camaro was making Good power, Nice shifts combined with excellent traction. If the Ricer was truly making 700 Horses it sure wasn't making it to the Track. Perhaps a Traction issue. Otherwise the Camaro had a 1,000 ponies.

They're top end just isn't as good as what a v8 or v10 can put out. I'm not knocking that supra. That is one fast car! Get some better tires on it and that would be a really close race. He just couldn't get decent traction.

But you're right 500hp usually is enough to keep the tires spinning, if the supra had big slicks like a drag car, then you can put all that power down and really see what is capable. It just gets to a point where you need good tires to harness horsepower exceeding 400+.

If you want to talk like that I can make 700rwhp with 5 grand in mods in a Supra with an ebay turbo kit and fuel system. It goes into the whole concept of Cheap and fast, fast and reliable and reliable and fast. You can't have all 3. And I'm a member on LS1tech so I've seen a few of these builds as well.

With $3,000 (previous mods plus exhaust, FMIC, and tires) I'm making 450whp on race gas and doing low 11's in the 1/4. Jump forward to $5k in total mods and I'm making 600whp (previous mods plus a used single turbo and injectors). Thats why Supras are so popular. How about actually learn something before talking shit. And your S10 sucks.

They are not Muscle cars or Sports Cars. The Supra could be called a Sports Car but most Tuners and/or Ricers are niether Muscle Cars or Sports Cars. A Corvette is not a Tuner car, a Honda Civic is not a Sports Car (no matter what you do to it) and NO Ricer will ever be a Muscle Car.

The S2000 and Miata are examples of sports cars (rwd, front engine, 2 door, 2 seat coupe) The Supra is a Grand Touring car (RWD, front engine, 2 door 4 seat car). The term tuner car is some bullshit term coined by magazines and ricers are a term coined by idiot domestic owners. They are imports that is all.

And ricer is a derogatory term that was made because many Mexicans would make their cars look faster without changing the engine. I'm not saying anything bad about the camaro, I love old maros and birds. I'm just saying the typical sbc is more of a low/mid high torque monster v motor. I have a t67 turbo lt1 95 z28 motor @ 12psi, yes it hauls ass, but on the freeway on the fly at 60pmh, no way in hell it will come close to my 2jz gt4088 @ 17psi. You can't argue with 5psi difference, it's a smaller displacement with 2 less pistons.

@lt1snail A stock 69 Z28 doesn't put out anywhere near 400 bhp. And no, if the race keeps going, the supra won't win. That is the one issue of suping up 4-6 cyliner engines. They're top end just isn't as good as what a v8 or v10 can put out. I'm not knocking that supra. That is one fast car! Get some better tires on it and that would be a really close race. He just couldn't get decent traction.

But you're right 500hp usually is enough to keep the tires spinning, if the supra had big slicks like a drag car, then you can put all that power down and really see what is capable. It just gets to a point where you need good tires to harness horsepower exceeding 400+.

@crzygutrsnobrdr i know, ive met alot of people with supras. i see them everyday. im stationed in okinawa atm. i know supras make good power easy but so do v8s, take the cobras for instance(coming from a chevy guy too), they can make 800hp on a stock motor with a twin turbo swap. im pretty tempted to buy a supra myself but i cant really seem to find one in a condition i want for a reasonable price even though they are so plentiful over here.
