Starting around when these two commercials were out, the bugs started a new trend of getting arrogant and defiant when they thought they were winning: laughing; sticking their tongues out; etc. That makes it more devastating to see them killed since it seems at first they would FINALLY WIN FOR A CHANGE. This is a reply to PrinceAdam's comment below about the "tough guy" bug. I LOVED that bug. I call him Mugsy and have a 3-part story on him in my website. Before I give more, I want to see if this comment goes through.
Hi Again. These bugs are my favorite characters of all time. They would do some of the cutest things like the leader in this one sticking his tongue out, other times they would sneak around at night, rolling over singing about how sneaky they were. They remind me of mischievous, naughty children. It is disheartening to see them lose to the Raid EVERY TIME, no matter what they try and these particular roaches tried a REALLY GOOD TRICK, but NOTHINGS ever effective against Raid.
I watched Raid commercials for over 20 years and this is in my top 5 of the hardest hitting of all. The poor roaches thought they were SO safe behind those hills and valleys. The leader's laugh was kind of wicked, but he was a good leader making sure the other 3 were "safe" in the nest first even using tough love on that foolish roach who stayed behind. Plus he was cute when he stuck his tongue out. Then there screaming "WHAT ME!! WHAT ME!!!" when the foam was closing in. More later.
@pierre72ify This commercial was hard hitting for sure. At first the roaches are all arrogant that no spray can get them deep in the corners of the nest, then the roaches are terrified when they realize the raid foam is chasing them and catching up fast, and finally they are all huddled together trapped in fear at what the raid foam is about to do to them.
@carpetsucker Yes it IS VERY hard-hitting in fact in my top 5 personal hardest of all time. It's a devastating turn around when the foam is closing in on them. Plus it was SO CUTE when the leader stuck his tongue out! His laugh was kind of wicked, but he was a good leader making sure the other 3 were "safe" in the nest first. Even using tough love on that foolish roach who stayed behind. How sad to think how futile their survival attempts turned out to be!!!
I remember one where a roach walks in to find the word "AFRAID" on-screen in big block letters. He scoffs and does this "tough-guy" bit, claiming not to be afraid of anything, and kicks away the A and the F to show how tough he is. Unfortunately for him, the remaining letters spell out the dreaded word "RAID", and the letter I turns into a cannon and blasts him!!!
@princeadam3 Yes Adam, I LOVED that bug!! As I mentioned above, I call him Mugsy and have a story on him in my site Raid Bug Drama. It was breathtaking watching him squirm in front of that cannon, especially with it moving with him constantly. It was adorable when his antennae drooped down.
