If we cut our foreign oil imports for 20 years the economy here would rebound and the Arabs would be crippled. We hopefully would have figured out another alternative by then.
From 2 years ago. And what do we do? Try to fix the old economy of wasteful housing and autos. Leading to more financial instability and making the day of reckoning likely sooner and more painful. Need really cut back on the money changers and unemployeed and get them working on the national grid, wind turbin generators, NG cars, electrify our rail network, expand passenger rail, build out of nuclear reactors. Stop the insane build out of McHouses, SUV or at least provide no subsidy.

Natural gas is NOT the aswer to decrease dependence on foreign sources:
Take a look at these numbers and tell me that changing to natural gas wouldnt produce the same problem in a few years time:

The only solution that will truly work is nuclear or the green energies in massive scale.
