I thought £600,000 was a bargain at the time after I read the whole press release on the car detailing the engineering that went into it. Never understood why they did not sell more as I think MaClaren set out to build 300 but could not sell them.

Relate that to now when Bugatti sell Veyrons no problem and the Supersport version was sold out very quickly at £1,800,000.

A second hand F1 is worth £3,000,000................a Veyron is worth £700,000.............. says is all really!

The MC F1 is an engineering masterpiece. To anyone that does not realize it has taken 10+ years for ANY car "maker" to meet or beat this beauty is....just in denial. That record of engineering accomplishment has NOT been beaten in the modern era. Think about it. Seriously.

lol, actually, have the real maths and statistics, you might actuatly might find the perpetual top speed, intreted, give me a message, and ill tell you, for eg: the veyron was at 407 kph at over 8000 rpm, rev limit removed and tall gear ratio, the Mclaren was tested with a 7500 rev limit, stock gear ratio and hit 391 kph, the mclaren is well capable of the 8000 rpm, and give it a tall gear ration, i think it will punch the face of 400 and kick the ass of 410 and maybe scream at 420

actualy the mac went over the limiter quite a bit, 7800rpm.But anyway, it did that with only 627hp.the veyron does only 16kmh more with almost twice as much. Give the mac two turboes and it'll go all the way to 460kmh!

veyron only hits 231 in normal config. Mclaren F1 hits 241 homogenously in normal mode.

ive got 1 statement to say, the mclaren F1 is still the fastest, weather ssc or bugatti like it or not, it hits a officail top speed of 398 kph, and mclaren lovers want it to be tested for top speed when the rev limit is removed, this car will go from 7567RPM to over 1100 RPM when removed.

i agree,the naturaly asporated enine did punch out 627hp but 2 turbos and retuning,intercoolers and modification of the cams could do a lot more

The reason they didn't add turbos was to keep the engine as reliable and low tech as possible. The engine also made an impressive 400ft/lb of torque at 1,500 rpm. But I agree with the technology of today it would be very easy to build a reliable yet much more powerful engine.

about the veyron, nobody cares about the veyrons speed, the veyron is one ugly mother f**ker, and if the mclaren was built with todays's technology it would be much faster than the veyron too. Plus the veyron weighs about 1,850 with 1001HP, the Mclaren F1 weighs 1000kg, yes, thats about 850kg less and has 631HP in normal form, the road legal race form has even more and is faster

I agree with you. I am an enormous supporter of the F1 and had I been instead of Bill Gates, I would have one, but you can't say anything about the veyron eh. I would buy one too. It has a lot of gadgets to it. Mclaren should try to rebuild the F1 with modern technology, meybe they'll hold the record for fastest road car once again. I'd like to see them there again, although the F1's not that behind. Just 10 mph.
