High Drama. The greatest gift you give God is the chance form him to live though you vicariously. It takes two. One to project reality, and the other to view reality. All I do I do for you O lord. All I am I am for you O lord. Our life is the greatest scarfice we can give God the greatest gift to God, so God may know what it is life to be an Aryan person.
@Mrherbalful You can not kill god. The reality protected around you in not a figment of your imagination, It is what you are able to observe via your mind. Attachment is the bond that binds you to materialism. To control your mind and defeat attachment is the only way to free yourself form this world. The purpose of all this is so God can live though you in this world, live as you and experience what you do, as all of us do. You can not kill God any more then you can kill your soul.
@MrAppleseed88 Your assumption of my attachment to materialism is somewhat bold having never met me. I guess if we are to bring materialism into a debate about spiritualism and God then we must include the attachment religious organizations have to land, money, political power. While the world enters further economic turmoil, these strengths of greed held are not being used to assist their followers accordingly. There's nothing wrong with God, just mans interpretation of God.
@Mrherbalful There's nothing wrong with God, just mans interpretation of God... I can accept that. In western world I think it is deliberate misrepresentation of him.
You have very good points on the dynamic of human-environment relationship.
My feelings on our purpose as humans is derived by what we do, what we are doing and the direction it is taking us.
I see technology, culture, information, science, spirit, love, everything about human life expanding exponentially. We are becoming more conscious, intelligence is working on intelligence. I believe i see consciousness evolving, and i - for now - believe that is the purpose.
most people believe that there isnt a meaning, or a truth to it, when in fact there has to be one truth and an infinite amount of wrong answers. the meaning of existence is that it is impossible to not exist. imagine not existing... you cannot because you have to. that means that you always have, and always will. the ultimate gift is the point of view you have been given, that is why the now is called the present
When a Child sees a Rock, it does not see a weapon.
When a Child sees a Tree, it does not see fire wood.
If there is a truth, a meaning to life, then you have to look at our origins, not what current society has shaped as to be or what faults society had made our ancestors think in the past.
The fact we desire not to die... has to mean something. On the surface that might sound "dumb", but if you can conclude "life is meaningless to me," then why have you not ended it? Pain isn't a factor.
+ there is a reason to exist...and that is to exist, life was given to live. Life was supposed to be appriciated, and rejoiced...and figured out. Once you seek, the more you find, you journey into enlightenment. You trudge through the mud and the muck, and you end up on the otherside stronger, faster, wiser,
You eat healthy, you live life bashing fear in the face. You get up, stand up, let the world know where you stand, and stick with it. You find the one that completes you, you find infinity
@narutosxdemon1 nah I am pretty sure the original meaning of life was to screw around so the planet is not so empty - and reproduce to ensure next generations will continue screwing around.
@narutosxdemon1 they do something, they feed herbivores which feed predators which do whatever, all that stuff is designed for ensured screwing around for future millions of years
this was pretty much what i would say until the end where he said the questions do not matter. i find the questions themselves to be my own meaning i make up, which is to question everything.
Ha, you basterds crack me up, did you ever look at your hands lately?- I mean look at the details, look at the details within the details...- eventualy you'll see that its real, too real, everything is too real. Noone will find the answer to why is everything too real, or why we live our lives, our pain. No one is that simple enough to understand. Its confusing but maybe you're looking at it in a different way.
I'm gonna go to sleep now? Yeah, you're obviously tired cause that's seriously gotta be the stupidest thing I've ever heard anybody say. People question why they exist because they have the intellect to, and they will share their knowledge with others because they want to learn, educate themselves, and educate others. Something wrong with that?
We do have one objective reason that we exist; passing on our genes to the future generations.Society is another monolithic entity that has a purpose for us. However, we can question weather we wish to do what we were created for, or what the autority of society wishes us to do, very legitimately. Whatever purpose we choose for our life is our purpose, and so we actually do have a purpose but we create it for ourselves.
Have you considered though that it is religious societies that pass on their genes the most, in contrast to secular societies which invariably have low birthrates? The more secular a society becomes the more its birthrate falls. Evidence I would suggest that religion is intimately bound up with human survival and that secularism spells ultimate doom for society.
After taking one or two courses on global issues and development, I must disagree.
Human birthrates drop when women become educated, and the general quality of life per capita goes up. Secularism is not the main cause of low birth rates, though it may be a contributing factor.
Low birth rates are not a bad thing you know. We are getting a bit too close to the planet's carrying limit, making one wonder if we will have to deal with an almost Malthusian problem in the future.
I accept what you say. Even so, if Richard Dawkins is right about genetic perpetuation being the driving force behind life then the high fertility rates in very religious societies could be an argument for religion. Personally I think there are FAR too many of us. Homo sapiens has filled the earth with violence and cruelty. The suffering of the animals at our hands is my biggest problem in religious terms.
Scarcity leads to suffering; most animals cannot help but produce more offspring than the ecosystem can support, humans can. With modern machinery available in secular societies, few people can produce what is needed and wanted for many. Low enough birth rates may change society, but most likely for the better.
My good sir, or 'dude' if you prefer, I thought that I made myself perfecty clear. My points were clear, rational, lucid and hugely thought-provoking. Read them again, and again if needs be, and all of this will be clear to you.
Countries like Norway, Iceland, Australia, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Japan, the Netherlands, Denmark and the United Kingdom are among the least religious societies on Earth. According to the United Nations Human Development Report (2005) they are also the healthiest, as indicated by measures of life expectancy, adult literacy, per capita income, educational attainment, gender equality, homicide rate and infant mortality.
@blackplatypus Are you fuckin' kidding me? The entire united kingdom has all it's laws, traditions and holidays based on religion and it is becoming even more religious every year as the majority changes from christian to islam. Also life expectancy is degenerating due to un healthy life styles and the dick heads adopting gang culture. The UK and the rest only seem lesser religious because it compared with the other half of the planet of 3rd world countries which have little to no education.
Well, that is what the UN human development report said in '05.
The countries listed do have the highest non-religious populations in the world.
Works the other way too. The US is unique among wealthy democracies in its level of religious literalism and opposition to evolutionary theory; it's also uniquely beleaguered by high rates of homicide, abortion, teen pregnancy, STD infection and infant mortality.
I'm not saying there's a causal link, but there's clear correlation.
@atticana doom for society? this planet is allready over populated, technically we are parasitic vermin, to put it blunty people are living longer and fucking like rabbits, which means more people which means more un required mouths to feed which if taken to the extreme will spell doom for society due to lack of habitat and resources, if religion is indeed tied to constant human breeding then its also tied to utter stupidity, so leave your dick in your pants or use a condom.
Ever since secularism, Europeans just decided not the take the old values of the Christian belief... quite sad... your forefathers didn't build you the prosperity for no reason... but you just have it say that "humans exist for no reason"...
I saw a program on TVO recently about the problem of explaining evil. The speaker was Dr. Jordan Peterson,Department of Psychology, University of Toronto. He deals with mythology, religion, psychology, neuroscience and human conflict.
Tom, when someone claims that god gives life meaning, just remember this phrase. "So the meaning of life is to be god's play thing and toy? As a christian, isn't that your whole purpose? You're god's toy. Congratulations!"
"And so I ask you for The Meaning Of Life You look me in the mirror like I'm looking at a knife 'Get off as much as possible and do what you love there should be something more but we don't come from above' A lot of time alone means a lot of time to dream Nothing's ever what it seems It's a hard life, Charlie Brown!" -Cloan

When somebody ponders on the true meaning of life, and comes up with an answer that is joking...
it shows that their life is a joke.
The purpose of life, is to bring purpose to the lives of others....
That is the meaning of life. You recieve, by giving...and it becomes fractals...
Like ghandi said....become the change you want to see in the world.
WuNdAfRiEnD 1 year ago
The meaning of life is really simple, people just refuse to believe it, the meaning of life is death. No complex explanation required.
On another note belief in gods was for explaing things that man themself couldn't explain.
