Socialism isn't about free goods, it's merely about being forced to pay for those goods through coercion.  Mother Theresa offered private charity, but she was nothing like some welfare bureucrat. A genuinely free university is just private property still and is still capitalistic therefore, the same a private charity like The Salvation Army or United Way are capitalistic in a sense.
