prelude is a game from portal addicts to portal addicts, so there really is no bitching about how difficult it is. If you didn't know about propelling yourself out of a portal using crouch, this mod may not be for you.
God, this game bugs me. I totally agree with Richccst. The thing is the game's not hard because the SOLUTIONS are hard to find; it's hard because the solutions only work on the twentieth try, when they're the totally right ones. It's luck, not brains.

Any professional video game maker will tell you that hard should never be so frustrating as to cause the player to lose interest. It's no longer a game of logic. It's not fun like Portal was. It depends on "gnat fart" tolerance positioning and unknown techniques, not hinted at in the puzzle. It's gone from a game of logic to a frustrating result of blind luck.
TOO DAMN HARD. It takes the "fun" out of it supposedly being a game. I have better and funner games I can play.

rightio, whats with the all the complaining about how hard this game is? im lvl 17 atm, had to look up two chambers for guidelines. sure its hard, but thats just because its challenging. portal was fantastic, but way too simplistic. though this is shaving the line of no fun, too hard, it hasnt yet cross it. perhaps you should stop complaining you need help and say...improve?
Well, almost all the comments I read about Prelude share the same opinion: too hard. Maybe the real "gamers" don't mind about spending 30 minutes doing the same jump over and over but most of the people do. Portal 1 was fun because it didn't required complicated gamers skills.
to be honest i see it mixed 50/50 over hard and fine. though the second group doesnt mention it. i will admit, this particular room is based more on luck and that should be changed. after that though, everything is just effort and skill. i am little more than a casual gamer, i barely play, and only on weekends. if you pause, think, form ideas and then utilise them, you'll be fine. unlike portal, the solution isnt handed to you on a silverplater, thats all.
Yeah, Portal was really good but this is way too difficult... There is no more "logic" challenge, it's just a bunch of precise moves that takes like forever to do. So f***ing frustrating....
Note to the developers: If, even after hours of practice, success is entirely dependent on luck, you have failed. Basing levels on chance is utterly frustrating.
agreed, I also don't like at almost every momentum gap, you need to jump before entering the portal because they don't have it so you can get sufficient speed from falling by simply walking off, as in Portal

@richcsst portal was way too easy. this mod is for those who are a little bit smarter. this is the real "now you're thinking with portals" cause portal was too easy. this is harder , takes more time. it's ment to be hard. this is for those who are more advanced with portals. ofc a noob wont complete this game.

ok i must sound like an idiot but ive downloaded it,ive run the .exe to install it and when its done installing it says it wont show up until i restart steam so i restart steam and nothing i cant find it anywhere not even when i browse for it if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated

rightio, whats with the all the complaining about how hard this game is? im lvl 17 atm, had to look up two chambers for guidelines. sure its hard, but thats just because its challenging. portal was fantastic, but way too simplistic. though this is shaving the line of no fun, too hard, it hasnt yet cross it. perhaps you should stop complaining you need help and say...improve?

Well, almost all the comments I read about Prelude share the same opinion: too hard. Maybe the real "gamers" don't mind about spending 30 minutes doing the same jump over and over but most of the people do. Portal 1 was fun because it didn't required complicated gamers skills.

to be honest i see it mixed 50/50 over hard and fine. though the second group doesnt mention it. i will admit, this particular room is based more on luck and that should be changed. after that though, everything is just effort and skill. i am little more than a casual gamer, i barely play, and only on weekends. if you pause, think, form ideas and then utilise them, you'll be fine. unlike portal, the solution isnt handed to you on a silverplater, thats all.

Yeah, Portal was really good but this is way too difficult... There is no more "logic" challenge, it's just a bunch of precise moves that takes like forever to do. So f***ing frustrating....

its not just crouching while you jump, but as your going in the portal for the 2nd time, remember to hit the up (W) key as well.

Note to the developers: If, even after hours of practice, success is entirely dependent on luck, you have failed. Basing levels on chance is utterly frustrating.

agreed, I also don't like at almost every momentum gap, you need to jump before entering the portal because they don't have it so you can get sufficient speed from falling by simply walking off, as in Portal
