  • Hmm, i found what looked like one of these in a small crick (slow if any movement, it dries out at some points in the year) not too far from house. It was under a bunch leaves under the water. I live in central New York, (like 300 miles from the city for all you thinking i live in the city) and I'm curious as to whether or not it was this or something else. I don't know much on salamanders but love the out doors. oh, and i didn't take the salamander out of the crick for more than a few minutes.

  • Small cage..

  • they are poisonous idiot!

  • how big does my tank have to be because am thinking of getting one..

  • Isn't it illegal to own fire salamanders?

  • cute cute cute!! do they like to be handled??? or is it preferred to not handle them?

  • were can you buy them at?! i want one!

  • this looks like spotted slamander

  • my mom says i have to throw them in the wild

  • are tiger salamanders poisonous to human?

  • haha nice vid i have an orange one and a spanish one but yours tops mine :) nice european !!!

  • are they friendly? im thinking about getting one.

  • bring sie in die natur zurück schon mal was von artenschutz gehört

  • Can i mix in salamanders with my whites?

  • i wish i could catch them like you guys too...actually,buying would be enough.Ugghhh!!!They are so rare here.

  • All watch my first video about amphibians :)

  • can u find these in Missouri and if so in the spring or summer more?

  • @IStoleYourCookie1 they only live in Europe, northern africa, and some western countries bordering the Mediterranean! look up salamandra salamandra @ caudata(dot)org

  • you should add more of a foresty feel, like logs and grass and some sticks, stuff like that. they seem a little bit boreded out there =P

  • i had some b4 and i loved the set up i had half dirt/soil and a log where they went under and a bowl of deep water for them to swim and drinkbut sadly it died 5 years later

  • These can be found in forests in south europe.

  • lol i dont buy them i found six in the forest last month and three days ago i got some eggs.

now im only waiting them to grow to salamanders.

actualy they are quite nice pets , and about toxins , i have fire salamanders since i was 7 years old and noone of my salamanders released toxins.

the oldest one is gilly and hes 9years old and for others i don know coz i found em big in the forest , so they are probably very old too.

  • i am getting one in april :D and a tiger salamander

  • Hehe....cool but why April?

  • saving up money and i own some ppl money xD

  • The Poison of this salamander seems to give you hallucinations :P

  • there did you get that Fire Salamander

  • wer did u get them!!!!

  • they release a toxin which can cause muscle spasms and hyperventilation but they very rarely excrete this toxin

  • Aaaw! They're soooo cute!!

    ♥Samantha♥

  • if they cant get there food as easily cuz the crickets jump alot buy crickets and freeze the crickets for like 5 min and they stay slow for a while so try it

  • Of course they have poison! I don`t know all the english words but in their skin they have these little "things" that produce poison. And when a Salamander is in danger or at least thinks he is, then he excretes this fluid that can cause skin irritation and even kill a dog when he swallows a Salamander...

But there is really nothing to worry about for humans... they are pretty chilled animals :-)

  • where did you get yours

  • try to feed them earthworms.

  • Wow... Ive always wanted a pet salamander

  • Win!

  • They don't have any poison glands. Trust me, I'm getting one this month and I[m doing a lot of research. Even if they did have poison, it wouldn't be near enough to kill you.

  • considering at leats one person is known to have officially been killed by a fire salamander....

    idiot.

  • They don't have any poison. Do you research.

  • yeah they have two poison glands

  • FINALLY SOME1 HAS DONE RESEARCH!

  • YES THEY DO!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can their poison kill you.i was thinking of getting one but i wanted to know more about their poison.

  • ive got 2 of dem...crakers an squigglz...wats full grown length?

  • i is godzilla!!!! prepare to die tiny criket ppls!!!!!!!

  • did you order it online if so what website

  • how many times i have to say it's the temp old tank i just kept them there for few days...they already be moved to a huge tank for more than a year now.

I should just delete this video.

  • @morrisseybond its because you don't have a new video of your big tank. thats why everyone is saying that.

  • @morrisseybond Some people just say things ignorantly. The point of the video was to show them right? In that case you made a good video and as long as your salamanders are comfortable then youre all good. :)

  • i like this video a lot actaully, im thinking of getting a fire salamander in a vivarium with 2 long tailed anole lizards, the person at the pet shop said it can be done

    =]

  • gl with that

ive heard of anoles and long tailed asain lizards but not long tailed anoles are you sure its not just a typo

  • Awesome video... these have to be some of the most beautiful amphibians! Could watch them forever. Got some too in a terrarium btw they are not dangerous at all, they do have poison in their skin (looks like sweat when they excrete it) but they only use it when they are hurt. I took em in my hand many many times and they never used that poison. The poison is harmless to humans but can be harmful to cats or dogs. Almost all animals avoid these being warned by the yellow-black color.

  • i like empereror newts too

  • no wait I mean they are so cute :)

  • where did u buy the salamander at i tired petco and petsmart they dont crayy em

  • I bought it in Hong Kong!

  • they arnt pousisons are they?

  • yes very poisonous

  • hi lol.

  • They are not harmful to human!:)

  • only to other small animals but not at all to humans

  • Hey err,are those poisonous....and if they are...can some1 suggest another non-poisin species of newt or salamander?

  • tiger salamanders

  • are these poisnouse?

  • he looks full. cuz thats one lazy salamander.

  • very healthy those salamanders

i have 7 of this species and 2 marbled ones.

    SALAMANDERS OWN!

  • i asked my dad and he said no

  • dude i will buy all of them

  • Sorry..I meant $40 bucks for the shipping?

  • hey, i'm not sure!

As I bought it in shop!

  • How much did each one cost you dude?

  • it's pretty expensive here, cost $100 usd per one!

  • Was the shipping like $40 bucks for one?

  • did u buy them at a pet store or off the internet

  • you need water,a cave, and rocks!!!

  • no worries, i did them allfor their new cave for a long time!:)

  • that is a cool one where did you get it?

  • why is it call fire salamander???...does it throwed fire?

  • In medieval times people tought if this animal will be thrown into the fire, it would extinguish it.

  • lol...oh ok...throw i of thos 2 da fire n record it lol j/k

  • Here in Spain tradition explains that salamanders born from fire. Maybe because when people threw away wood to the fire, salamander went out running away...

  • look at this ...youtube()com/watch?v=n6p28KRwstE

  • I like these animals, I have taken some pictures of a speciment with a "3"-shaped spot on it's back, when I had been walking in the mountains. In Hungary it is illegal to keep them, just like all of the other amphibians and reptiles living here. So we have to be satisfied with foreign species.

  • 2 lovely looking Fire Salamanders but the terraruim could be alot mor interesting there is NO hiding places!!!

  • No worries! It's their old temp tank, they have been moved to a ,much bigger one for a long time now. With cave!

  • ok im very glad to hear that!

  • yeah! It's fire salamander!

  • Hey what specie on salamander is this? A fire salamander? x.x It just sounds weird. and I think I spelled specie wrong. x.x

  • Das Fur... ya hur?

  • Salamandra Terrestris? What subspecies are they? Nice looking animals.

  • yeah! I think they are S. s. terrestris!

  • lol crikets

  • i suggest that is in america?? no one else would keep m in that small things... tss, they are f*cking depressed

  • No worries! It's their old temp tank, they have been moved to a ,much bigger one for a long time now.
