  • RIP SHIRLEY 1ST FLORDIA EVANS NOW U

  • @mhz313 Yeah, sad, they died within about a year of each other.

  • I remember coming home from school and this would be on TV. Back in the days where the channels went Clack, Clack, Clack, Clack...LOL When you had to get up to turn the channels on the TV knob. Those were the days. I was born in 1977 so you know I know about that! LOL

  • Not going to take a job just to be your "token" black. Right on Shirley.

  • uh oh....

  • When Dee advised Shirley... I thought it was very sage. This was a very telling episode for that period as well as today.

  • I ALL WAS REMEMBRO THAT

  • You younger ones have to understand that this was the 70's and MLK was just the 10yrs prior. Todays' politically correct try not to offend anyone tv shows are recent of the 90's and beyond. But I still love these shows over anything in the last 24yrs.

  • do you think this would be a good show to show to a group of high school students as an example of how things were in this time for black history?

  • I think it would be a good episode to show the contrast in tv for blacks/minorities between then and now.

We've come a long way. You wouldn't see an episode like that anywhere today. But in the 70's it was commonplace.

  • yes, this show and some of the earlier 70's black shows where race and social issues were discussed and added these shows, something that would be controversial today.

  • Ok.. I'm 23, so obviously this is far behind my time. But just from watching 2 episodes, it seems very stereotypical, and depicting. Just look at all of the subliminal messages throughout the show and of course if you were growing up around that time - its simply a humorous childhood memory and I respect that, but its just so demeaning... Did people really act like that back then? It made me laugh I have to say, but did they had to take it that far??

  • who the hell is Raj? this isn't a Bollywood production

  • Very Funny.

  • you're out of order. Shirley was an integral part of the whole~

  • Unquestionably, she was. However, I stand by my comments. That's the beauty of being a YouTuber: we can agree to disagree...an open exchange of ideas and opinions. Have a great weekend.

  • I have the first season on DVD. I remembered watching this show when I was a kid and it was great to see it again (on DVD).

  • lol Dee qo hard. pushin Raj outta the way && tellin everyone what to do lol

  • whats happening was awesome i wish they would show it on tv now.

  • They should have used Randy Watson instead, he played Joe the Policeman on the What's Goin Down episode of That's My Mama.

  • Ziannarose, I really like the rainbow suspenders comment. And this show was a whole lot of fun!
