There is probably some legitimate connection between them. The PC version I believe came first, but SemiCom weren't bootleggers, so I imagine there was an agreement between SemiCom and the producers of the original game (or they're just the same company trading under different names)
@Jac2Mac Yeah, it appears to be based on Baryon, a Raiden clone of (I think) german origin. Seems to use a lot of the same graphics, but I don't know if it's licensed or not.

yeah it sounds like ass, the sound hardware on these boards is worse than most bootlegs, it's a shame.
