Just happened to find your videos today. It's surreal to see what Fortuna looks like now. I lived there 20 years ago. I was a volunteer teaching English at the high school. Back then, I was the only "gringa" living in town. I used to hang out at El Jardin - and get free "platos del dia" from Henry & Johnny. This "salto" video reminds me of the time I went during rainy season - I stubbed and broke a toe on the rocks. Hijo... Can't believe all the 2-storey buildings!
@Chicktrips Yeah, it has really changed...and mostly in the last couple years........ i think the recession will help though....building was getting a little out of control..... hotels EVERYWHERE....and a few are 'vegas' style... but it's all good... love living here. Thanx for the comment
went to costa rica last month...amazing that i didnt see any snakes....did see alot of monkeys....spider monkeys...howler monkeys (they sound like gorillas lol)....the grasshoppers (grio) are huge!!! I saw one that was the length of my hand....
@nintendoneil haha,,might have been a good thing you didn't see any snakes. Yup, BUGs are BIg here,,,hell, grasshoppers here, are the better white meat.

I visited Costa Rica a while back and it would have been nice to know a lot of what you guys have on your videos. I had to buy a lot of what I needed in Costa Rica, which is really difficult if your not a local. The place that we stayed at was a hotel called Barcelo and another hotel that we stayed at was by Volcan Arenal. Thank you guys for doing these videos. Costa Rica is often misunderstood. Thanks
I LOVE this place! My boyfriend and I went last Christmas and did the quad ride/tour and the guide took us here. I did the rope swing, but screamed like a crazy person the whole time I was in the air while the Tico's(a) gave me the "thats an annoying gringo" look. Great job with the videos!!!! Hope you keep doing this for us!

You can float down the river a bit to where it gets ankle shallow, but you will then have to follow a path back up to the top, which is a lot of work if you want to jump in alot. And the guys said it, but bring water shoes. The locals will be barefoot but I woudnt recommend it. Same goes for Fortuna Falls.
Though I want to tell you it can be very dangerous there. In raining season you shouldn't swim there. The water comes from the montains where fallen trees etc hold the water in one place but when it gets lose it comes down with lighting speed. Mi sister almost died but they got out in time. Water rose at least a meter!!

omg i had no idea u could dive into that thing, i thought it was shallow with a swing, it looks really cool i remember passing it and trying to decide if we should go there or not, now i regret it. wtf fml
It's a little on the rise in San Jose and Limon,,,but most theft from tourists is brought on by the tourist not taking precautions...like leaving a laptop in the front seat of a rental car...it's not usually 'violent' in nature, we have other videos on our site explaining it more......
Okay, thanks I'll check them out. I'm going for the first time in January so I'm not really sure what to expect. The only person I know who has been told me it is nice there but you have to be careful driving because drivers are super aggressive.
