  • this match race was kinda evil. war admiral is seabiscuits uncle. lol how cold!

  • Seabuscuit was an amazing horse, he was smaller than the rest of the horses. When seabuscuit started racing they trained him to lose, when Tom Smith got him, he trained him to win and they taught him how to be a horse again. Read the book and watch the movie

  • No wonder Biscuit beat the Admiral. He was a cheat - at least his trainer was. There have been allegations in the past that Seabiscuit was administered horse growth hormones (HGH) and other drugs by Tom Smith and Red Pollard. Smith was actually busted for drugging a later horse. Biscuit does little at 2 and 3 years and suddenly starts winning under Smith - this just doesn't happen. It was observed that he looked bigger at the Anita in 1940, and he died much younger than most racers.

  • Seabiscuit racing against his half uncle. Man O' war sired both war admiral and hard tack but with different dams and hard tack sired seabiscuit. aparently hard tacks side was better.

  • I really don´t know why everyone has to argue who is better. Sure, I like Man o' War most, but all were great race horses, Man O' War, Seabiscuit, Ruffian, Foolish Pleasure, Native Dancer and so on! Respect, the 20th century brought the best horses. But also a favourite of my is Eclipse, one of the first unbeaten horses ever. In the end he was banned from racing cause no one wanted to bet for another horse, lol! He lived in the 18th century.

  • @Rimfaxe96

Secretariat? The only PROVABLE "greateast racehorse of all time". Numbers. ie times CANT be argued.

  • @bigjohnfl I don't actually care. ;)

And I only didn't mentioned Secretariaz 'cause everyone knows him. Names like Citation are about to be forgotten. Or Round Table.

  • This sucks.

    Where is the race?

All I hear is some old fart who is a lousy caller.

This is why racing has not moved forward in 50 years.

  • @JR08620 it has not moved forward because a 14 year old put pictures of the race together with the call?

  • @carlykaiser "it has not moved forward because a 14 year old put pictures of the race together with the call?" This comment owns JR08620 like Sea Biscuit owned War Admiral lol!!!

  • SeaBiscuit is Man O War's Grandson and War Admiral is Man O War's Son...but then you knew that...

  • oh yeah, i know lots about Seabiscuit.

  • you know phar lap beat Seabiscuit , War Admiral and Man O' War.

well phar lap, seabiscuuit, war Admiral and Man O' War was my favourite, but sadly they died. =[

  • Um excuse me, War Admiral wasn't even born when Phar Lap DIED in 1932.Two years later Admiral was born.

Phar Lap never saw Seabiscuit or Man O' War--ever

  • my horse is related to both of theM!

  • They are family. Man-O'-War is the father of War Admiral, en the grand-father of Seabiscuit. I read the book of Seabischuit now. It's a wonderfull story's and he is my favourite horse. Excuse me for my bad English. But i do my best. (i'm Dutch)

  • hm cool dan is mijn paard famillie van allebij. welk boek is dat als ik vragen mag?

  • there never will be another biscuit you may get champions like the admiral but not legends...the biscuit is about the heart not about speed

  • Such an amazing little horse :)

  • seabiscuit is one of my favorite race horses too.

  • Now is the time for all of us horse lovers to step up! Thousands of horses are being slaughtered right now in the US for human consumption.Even Racehorses and pregnant mares are killed. USDA studies show over 92% of horses slaughtered are healthy and 3 out of 10 contain unhealthy chemicals.

  • Yes, but what will one do with the thousands (if not millions) of horses sent to slaughter once one has "saved" them? I do agree that it would be a great thing to save horses from slaughter, especially the wild horses, but it is just not plausible. Just as the slaughter of other animals, horse slaughter is an evil that is necessary to prevent horrible over population. In a perfect world I would be whole heartedly behind you, but the world we live in is very very VERY far from perfect.

  • The total number of horses killed yearly is only about 1% of the enitre US horse population. Horse slaughter numbers have been dropping yearly for along time. According to the USDA in 1992 243,585 horses were killed, in 1995 the number was 112,677(more than a 50% decrease!)in 2000 the number was only 47,134. This was with the 2 TX and 1 IL slaughterhouses still operating. With the numbers getting continually smaller where did all those spare horses go? Its simple, the market simply absorbs them.

  • Good race. Seabiscuit was a good horse, but I don't like how this portrays War Admiral. War Admiral was the better horse but he's remembered by this race, one of his only losses. He should be remembered as the Triple Crown winning and record breaking son of the great Man O' War.

  • And that's why the result sticks in the mind public conscience so much. Going for the underdog and all that.

  • yeah but note that this movies maincharacter is seabiscuit, so why should have they told about all his victories and trophies before and after this one race? Btw didn´t mention his triple crown victory in the movie? O_o

  • Wow! Seabiscuit is one of my fave race horses! :)

  • Yeah i remember seeing the actual black and white footage on tv which was incredible. I saw it through PBS so they might sell the documentary dvds

  • If I remember correctly, the video is available. I just can't remember where I've seen it, though....

  • I uploaded the video!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this. The public euphoria over Seabiscuit would have been very strong on this date in 1938.

I just finished reading "Seabiscuit" by Laura Hillenbrand today. In her book, she tells how she acquired a film of the actual race against War Admiral. I wonder if we can get her to post it on YouTube.

  • The actual race is on the special edition of the Seabiscuit DVD. I don't have the software to download it to youtube, though.
