I love this guy. This isn't sad at all,he's just fuckin around. I mean shit guys, you feel tk bad for him. He talks wierd and has bi polar disorder. If he talked normal in sure nine if you would feel nearly as bad.
The best part is his shaking at the end. its so full of angst and despair. Its the PERFECT closing. This is my fav music documentary. Fearless Freaks (Flaming Lips) and Wise Old Little Boy (The Microphones) is awesome too

The fact you put Stayley and Cobain in the same list as John Lennon is really pathetic. First of all, There was no SAVING John Lennon unless you could've talked some sense into the man who brutally shot him down. It's not like he killed himself like the other two. Second off, Kurt Cobain is a terrible musician. His music was bland and simplistic and he only got recognition for being eccentric. He was a second rate musician in life and a second rate musician in death.
Lennon was a emotive tosser who helped transform left wing politics, from an active and working system, into a series of meaningless and substenceless statements. He was a self-serving egoist and did a lot of damage.
DLwhinery- Music is art and millions of music lovers loved his works. If it sounds bland to you so be it but that sure doesn't mean that millions of listeners are hearing something great. When nevermind was released it blew the doors off most other stuff. And you were about 5years old.
daniel johnston is the last REAL musical genius there is. hes undoubtedly one of the gods. we wont know it until hes gone though. then well all say "fuck why didnt we save him". just like cobain and staylee and lennon etc...
He was such a beautiful and talented young man. with an angelic voice.
This guy really fell hard, now he can hardly mumble through his songs, his voice is totally unintelligible. He has no teeth, immensely overweight and cant keep from shaking.
not a tragedy. His shakiness developed throughout his life. my best friend has the same disorder, and he it's becoming more and more present of his inability to control his shaky hands unless he is drawing. Daniel is doing what he loves, he still loves it. He enjoys his life and experiances difficulties like we do, but in different ways.
ive seen this movie and tried to find HELD THE HAND it is IMPOSSIBLE to find also i remembered this song playing at the end credits so what are you talkin about
he looks like a lot of my neighbors here in the tenderloin please believe me im not making fun of anyone the last i heard of him (by)(before youtube) was speeding notorcycle
I just re-watched the DVD, and all the special features... and I don't know what song he was actually dancing too... though I did not watch the movie with the Director commentary on, maybe that's where it's at. Too bad it wasn't Devil Town... the dance fits very well to Devil Town!
cpould anybody tell me whats he listening to in this final scene? i am from buenos aires, argentina, and since i'l never see the dvd cause i cannot get it down here (wink wink) I'l fkng never know!
I love you so much daniel, thank you for being YOU
the reason why I like daniel so much, is that when Im loving him, Im trying to love him so much that it brings some sort of balance to everyone that didnt see how great he was.
what happened to home recordings?!!! theyve lost so much of their charm w some of these new artists. some of daniels stuff had the worst quality but the songs were still amazing. i heard a guy recently on myspace who records all his stuff at home and doesnt like anyone else to be involved at all i guess. very danielish. i liked it a lot, good sound. i think u can find his stuff at myspace backslash benklamm if anyones curious. long live daniel!!
Anyone notice how the chord sequence is almost the same as 'A Day in the Life' by the Beatles? Might just be coincidence but I know Daniel's a massive Beatles fan.
It probably is less of a coincidence than you think. I mean, he said before that he used the Beatles song book like a bible. And he also said that he used some chord progressions from their stuff and modified it for his songs. Although, I don't know about each and every one.
WOW I really wanted to beat his ass when I saw his documentary but after seeing this I want to kick his whole familie's ass. Asshole no talent shit on the fur. This circus geek, acid damaged, pinhead really touches cloth. People that like this are lemmings.
If you have a soul, you would feel sought out by his music. You obviously feel like he is unjustly taking attention away from your music heroes... So who do you like? What are you basing your opinion on? Talent = Commercial success, huh?
Well, Ashlee Simpson and the Hip Hop crowd would agree...
quite clearly you know nothing about Daniel Johnston at all, you have no idea what a beautifully written song is, or the genius behind its insanity. Its fine though, Im sure your quite content with listening to britney spears and madonna. Please fuck off. Kindest regards.

No se cómo explicarlo. Esta danza es la síntesis de su vida y obra, cargada de vitalidad, tristeza, emoción, sinceridad y surrealismo.
