The lifebars in this game can sometimes be misleading. I saw video with the final boss where it looked like the boss only had a sliver of health left, but in fact it wasn't even close to being dead.
the second game is very fun. but in my oppinion the first one was a better experience for me. I just found many spots in the game more memorable and I loved the simplistic storytelling

SNES. Its not on the VC to my knowledge, but Breath of Fire 2 is.

Its more difficult than Breath of Fire 1 and is different in a number of ways. I do recommend it though.

I read the dragon forms are much weaker in that game because they one last for one attack.
