I remember the two level playable demo with Acorn User, damn I played that to death and then for Christmas.. the only Christmas Dinner I ate in my room with my A3000, it's 2mb upgrade and the full game. I literally couldn't play the next day because my hands were killing from keyboard cramp (I was like 10) this, my first 3D shooter experience, what memories!
Hello, I'm looking for the shareware version of this. I had it a while ago but cannot seem to find any information on the internet. Do you know of a website that still works relating to downloading the shareware of this game?
Poor Eddie Edwards. I remember an article in Acorn User about how he converted this game to the Acorn. He had to pay iD Software about £20,000 for the rights. But he managed to fix bugs that were apparent in the PC version, such as apparently disappearing soldiers. End result - splendid conversion, and many fond memories! Thanks for posting :-)
Are you playing this on a real Acorn computer or are you playing it on an emulator? I've not had any real experience with Acorn hardware post BBC Master, but 2 years ago I suddenly developed an interest in these machines, i don't know how popular they were in Australia where I live though.
It definitely ran on the A3000 - played this to death at the time :-) It may have needed the 2MB ram upgrade though. Classic game though and thanks to peebles for posting all these great video's!!
Someone in our school managed to load Wolfenstein onto Acorns in our school network round about 1995.I always used to play it at break times, although not for very long for fear of being caught by a teacher.Eventually, the IT teachers and techs found out that someone had hidden the game on the school computers and deleted it.
I got this game one Christmas, it was in a double CD case which was weird at the time. The suspence this game had at the time was unreal and the feeling you got when you found the Minigun was awesome! Its a shame the older you get and the more games you play, you start to loose the imagination you once had when these games first came out.

Would this run on an A3000?

Dunno if it would work on Risc OS 2 but you can scale the settings for an ARM2 :)

I've got an A3010 somewhere which has Risc OS 3.10 on it which might work but I've got no idea how I would find the game itself! any ideas?

Yes It runs on An Arm2 RO2 Machine.... and from floppies only! Many a School break and lunch were spent on my Maths Dept's 2MB A3000....

the intro to this version reminds me of Goldeneye 007 on the N64.

It later evolved into the Risc PC line, but then it was already commercialy dead.

They had computers that were 5x faster than 50 Mhz 486 in some operations - IN 1991!
Unfortuanatelly the prices were too high, even if it was perfectly reasonable as it was extremmely-ahead-of-time computer.

Never seen any acorn computer before never heard about it! i don´t know why but
i actually want to know was it just a commercial failure or was it ignored

Price.
The performace of the first Archie was 4x more than that of Amiga 500 so about the performace of an Amiga 1200, in July 1987!
So, naturally, the price of most of these gems was close to or even more than 1000 pounds!
It was popular, but just in Briitain because it was brought to schools shortly after its debut.
