Requiescat in pace

I'm italian, and I also know latin. "Requiescat in pace" doesn't exist in italian, but it's correct in latin.

"Pax" is only used when it is the subject of the phrase, but after "in" we have to use "pace".

The saying "Requiescat in Pace" is the shortened form of a prayer that was originally used in the Roman Catholic Church for burial services. The original was something like "Anima eius et animae omnium fidelium defunctorum Dei misericordiam requiescat in pace". It's Latin, and the "requiescat in pace" bit means "rest in peace".

Are you sure? I know that peace is "pax" in latin, but in the phrase it's used as "pace" I'm pretty sure, as I've seen it on gravestones before...

Right Ezio from the AC games is speaking Italian, but i believe they simply used "pace" instead of "pax" when they did the funeral services in Latin.

@Furkan125 No Requiescat in pace is really in Italian "rest in peace" but from older times now it says "Riposi in pace" but some ppl stil use Requiescat
