this is part of the stephensons tunnels. the other two arch shaped ones on the other side where the two boiler rooms. their is also accomadation for the workers who worked there back in the day.
Look North-West ran a story years ago before the Williamson Tunnels became even locally famous. A guy who was being pursued down the underground system by police when he climbed through a small hole in the wall and got lost. He was rescued/arrested after being missing for 12 hrs!
He was wandering around the "Williamson's Tunnels". Is this part of the same system?
