I think it is Great that people have not forgotten Magoo he was a genuine person that loved racing till the day he left us. However currently Danny Magoo does not have a Headstone at his grave site where his fans, friends and Family can visit there hero please contact dannymagoo com or e-mail davegomez1618@ gmail com any contributions would be greatly appreciated Thank you International Riders Helping People.inc
I remember White Brothers Racing put the Suzuki RM that Brad Lackey rode up for sale in the Cycle News classifieds. Boy I wanted that rocketship so bad. The Brad Lackey/ Roger DeCoster Hangtown memorial had a funny story that Brad Lackey told about Danny in this race. R.I.P Danny.
Brilliant poem. I love it. I read it in reverse and it works even better. Danny was my idol when I started racing in 1980. I met him once at an A&W after he spent the day beating everyone at Dixon.
As a kid, I looked forward to the Super Bikers and the Carlsbad USGP on ABC every year. I always wanted a MXer to win the SB. It could be anyone, just a MX guy. :D
Danny Magoo Chandler, seen him win the double ,he was sumthing else, dont know what to say,bad news man wat happend to you Danny but you get on with it man.
I remember watching that race as a kid. In this main event, it was Springsteen and Ricky Graham on the Factory Harley XR750 dirttrackers. Steve Wise and Danny "Magoo" Chandler on the Factory Honda CR480's. The harleys would pass em on the paved straight, and then the Hondas would get them in the dirt, usually the mx section..... Toward the end the Hondas stepped it up and pulled away. Magoo the champ.
magoo was the shit, very fast. he did some cocaine back in the day, but who didnt? a fe years later I saw wayne rainey and kevin schwantz hauling ass at that race smoking everyone, least on the road part lol
Oh MY GOD!! I remember this!!! I was 11 at the time. Damn, look how they are dicing it up!! Wow!! This needs to come back. Is anyone at AMA listening?? Can you imagine today with all the super motards out there??
The who thing was an ABC WWOSports debacle, it was a great sporting event but they put their usual stuft shirts in there to announce it, Jim MCkay et al. They had a tendency to turn things into a kind of ridiculous show no matter what it was at ABC back then. Glad Supermoto/Supermotard is so popular now, it was ahead of its time and I loved it then and now.
I think Magoo would have gotten even faster if it wasnt for the broken neck.Hey they're on two strokes and riding fast too.I am SICK of the 4 strokes!!
Magoo should be a household name for ANYONE in the sport of motocross, period. He was balls out every time he rode. It's beyond sickening how the sport turned their back on this man. (I would never own/buy a Honda because they are the epitome of corporate greed/arrogance) He gave MX HUGE exposure in the 80's, and now the kids today barely know his name- such bullshit. He put the X in extreme and he should be given his due. FUCK HONDA.
Danny would of been the fastest man on two wheels (one wheel even)if he had not broke his neck in France, Dec 1985!! His flight back to the states was over $85,000. This IS the grandfather to the X-Games. Look in the Motorcycle Hall Of Fame! "FUCK YA!!!"

Carlsbad raceway, California. I raced a few motos there, and picked up a few time-slips on the dragstrip.
It's an industrial park, now. Sad. . .

My heart is broken, and my hero is gone
He was my dear friend and this seems so wrong
All his friends are reflecting that its just been to long
Now all our hearts are broken and our hero is gone
When the stories are told and the memories grow old
Hell always be young with a heart of gold
The legends will be that his courage was bold
The love that is Danny will never grow cold
Thanks for the friendship Dan you gave me so many good memories

Supermoto has it's roots in road racing, flat tracking, and motocross.
Hence why alot of road guys are good at riding supermoto, and alot of flat track guys are good at riding it also.
