I've got to disagree with your opinion on Wolf's Rain, but it's a series that is you will either Love it or Hate it. There's not much inbetween, and everyone has their own opinion. It's nice to hear as well, as long as you have your own reasons.
Of course incredible military decisions are done by children's games. Don't you remember when we started the Iraq War because Bush said he called their oil?
About "Wolf's Rain" hbi2k. I feel the same way about "The Day After Tomorrow". Whao wait a second I think I got an idea about why the sucked. Bad use of wolfs. Remember the day after tomorrow. lol
I tried to get into Wolf Rain, I really did. But I kept getting confused about what the hell was going on or who the $%&# were the main character supposed to be! Were they Were-Wolves but they could only be wolves? Were they wolves originally and for some reason became human; or was it that they were human and wanted to be wolves?! IT NEVER BOTHERED TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING!!!!
Now I may have watch an episode in mid-season, but at least FMA bothers to explain the Alchemy physics in EVERY OPENING!
First, he appeared beside General Adon. His name was revealed to be Private Finn, thanks to a Tom Sawyer joke. Then, as I just realized watching episode 13, he was declared dead; killed by Guts, 2 days before retirement in fact. And then he appeared here today, on the other side of the war.
Another great commenary. I think the White Tiger Knight's lackey is actually the twin of the one for General Adon [sic]. How tragic is this war, that it turns brother against brother.
It wasn´t entirely bad, but the pacing is pretty horrible and there are 4 filler episodes in between (i think the drawing team changed there or something) made me want to kill myself. But if u can hold out for so long: the ending kicks ass imho.
I saw Wolf's Rain and I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't. I think the premise of the show could have worked, but the slow pacing simply killed it.
Also, the ending was horrible. Really, really horrible.
Whose bright idea was it to take what is normally a sarcastic remark when someone asks "how did it end" and turn it into the ACTUAL ending?
The "sir something something sir" Guy is a turn coat. He goes from working with adon, to the white tigers, to the guard who makes the joke about the ham fisted irony when they rescue griffith.
Yeah, as far as the wolf's rain thing. There were some okay parts of it. The soundtrack (especially the Steve Conte tracks) is awesome. But I had the misfortune of watching in in China with english subtitles that were a direct translation. Weird as hell man, weird as hell.
The episodic format of the show doesn't really lend itself well to abridging. Plus, it made a point of steering clear of anime cliches, so there's no help from that direction either.
@hbi2k the movie is ok if you watch it with an open mind and take it for what it is, the problem arises when you go in expecting something like the TV series
I couldn't agree more on the whole Wolf's Rain thing. I actually only watched it for the same reasons you gave, though I only watched three episodes hoping the first and second were just bad mistakes and that it would get better later on. Boy was I wrong!
By the way, are you going to do a Gantz Commentary too after the Berserk Commentary is over?
[insert generic statement about how the commentary is only a reflection of my own personal opinion and anyone who managed to glean some kind of enjoyment from Wolf's Rain is entitled to their own blah blah blah here]
I REALLY wanted to like Wolf's Rain, but I constantly found myself bored. There was hardly any plot, it just consisted of a bunch of wolf men wandering around trying to find "paradise".
so true about wolf's rain. it was really BORING. you'd think a bunch of wolves turning humans would have made for some awesome action scenes, but NOOO, we get whatever their version of awesome was, which was SUCK
ok having watched the entire wolfs rain series, i have to agree it wasnt that great, i think the ending ruined it for me, overall i kinda liked it just the ending, it was far to depressing, maybe some one should do an abridged series of it and give it a better one
I love how not only are big military decisions are made by a simple game of "Not it", but from Griffith's reaction, it seemed like he wasn't even paying attention to the meeting. XD
Yeah I really really tried to watch wolf's rain but I just couldn't keep with it either. I think the only reason that I watched it was b/c it was on between two better shows on cartoon network and it gave me a break to edit any papers I was writing for school that week.
It confuses me with this pedofile character did he have sex with griffith in the orignal anime or did griffith have sex with little kids and the old man in the manga?
but dont forget. in japan the age of consent is 13(not joking) and it was the middle ages and people live to be 30 if they are lucky. so char with grif aint that bad when you think about it. plus it was consentual. unlike the little boys gennon sodomized(since they didnt have a choice. they were his buttslaves. youtube to his google(the company. not google as a word for male organ))
actually, it's really just the national age of consent in Japan that's set at 13-14. Most prefectures however pass their own laws on what the age of consent is, ranging from 13 to 18.
To add a bit to CronoLegends's reply, pretty much all prefectures forbid relations with minors, which has effects comparable to the laws here in the U.S. Pedophilia is not widely accepted, regardless of the national "age of consent."
Actually I didn't care much for Death to Smoochy. I think the fact that it was hyped as this completely pitch-black, no-holds-barred comedy raised my expectations too much. Then again, I've kind of been desensitized to all but the blackest of black comedy....
That happens a lot, actually; just look at Daikatana.
But yeah, after watching a series like Gantz (which I consider to be partly black comedy) , I couldn't imagine other black comedies being quite as dark in comparison.
by the way i had never heard of cowboy bepop until the day before yesterday and since then i've heard of it 4 times (unintentionally, not like i was searching for it)...
gaaah! what?! never heard of cowboy bebop! blasphemy!!! trust me and everyone else, you owe it to yourself to watch it. one of the best anime EVER!!! anyway, yet again another great commentary hbi2k. keep em coming.
No, seriously, I respect Led Zep and realize that they're this big influence on music and yadda yadda yadda, I just plain don't enjoy listening to them. Bebop is the best of both worlds: good/influential, AND enjoyable.
I agree! I loved cowboy bebop! Mostly the music, but I use to stay up a 1:00 to see it come on t.v! Best anime ever! and Julia wasn't a good charater. just shoot then died!
To me it more depends on which songs you actually listen to. I enjoy both a great deal, and really couldn't tell you why I think of Zep when Bebop is on. To me they just mix really well. To each his own I guess
Cowboy Bebop rules!

The Story of the Sir Guy:
First, he appeared beside General Adon. His name was revealed to be Private Finn, thanks to a Tom Sawyer joke. Then, as I just realized watching episode 13, he was declared dead; killed by Guts, 2 days before retirement in fact. And then he appeared here today, on the other side of the war.
