  • Cowboy Bebop rules!

  • I've got to disagree with your opinion on Wolf's Rain, but it's a series that is you will either Love it or Hate it. There's not much inbetween, and everyone has their own opinion. It's nice to hear as well, as long as you have your own reasons.

  • out of all the characters in cowboy bebop who's ur fav character im a Edward Fan myself

  • Of course incredible military decisions are done by children's games. Don't you remember when we started the Iraq War because Bush said he called their oil?

  • I didn't like Wolves Rain either and My sister plays the damn ending theme too much (probably to annoy me).

  • Hbi did you know that Hollywood is planning to make a Cowboy Bebop Movie??????????

  • there is all ready is one

  • ...Wolf's rain. It had it moments, but didn't like it in the long run either.

  • About "Wolf's Rain" hbi2k. I feel the same way about "The Day After Tomorrow". Whao wait a second I think I got an idea about why the sucked. Bad use of wolfs. Remember the day after tomorrow. lol

  • I tried to get into Wolf Rain, I really did. But I kept getting confused about what the hell was going on or who the $%&# were the main character supposed to be! Were they Were-Wolves but they could only be wolves? Were they wolves originally and for some reason became human; or was it that they were human and wanted to be wolves?! IT NEVER BOTHERED TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING!!!!

Now I may have watch an episode in mid-season, but at least FMA bothers to explain the Alchemy physics in EVERY OPENING!

  • hell ya man wolf rain sucked so much!!!!!

  • Amen to that brother

  • everyone has there own taste

  • <3 to your Not it chosen for military campaigns :D

  • The Story of the Sir Guy:

First, he appeared beside General Adon. His name was revealed to be Private Finn, thanks to a Tom Sawyer joke. Then, as I just realized watching episode 13, he was declared dead; killed by Guts, 2 days before retirement in fact. And then he appeared here today, on the other side of the war.

    Did I miss anything?

  • Nope, Private Finn's a different guy (he has a Mississippi accent).

  • Or maybe that's what the Sir Guy wants you to think... dun dun DUNN.

Maybe he's the one who's *really* behind the diet pill scheme.

  • hell yeah spike is badass but i like vicious better cuz i love swords

  • damn straight cowboy bebops awesome!!!!!

  • Another great commenary. I think the White Tiger Knight's lackey is actually the twin of the one for General Adon [sic]. How tragic is this war, that it turns brother against brother.

  • i like the white tiger guy's voice

  • Wolf Rain is good =P.

  • hell no

  • Hell Yesh!

  • Lol, thanks for the warning to never watch Wolfs rain now... Meh i didn't want to anyway, not since i heard the spoilers for the ending.

  • The "I want Griffith naked" joke is also a nice callback to Griffith's own, "I want Guts... for my army!" joke from episode two.

  • Never saw Wolf's Rain. What was so bad about it?

The concept does seem rather derivative.

  • It wasn´t entirely bad, but the pacing is pretty horrible and there are 4 filler episodes in between (i think the drawing team changed there or something) made me want to kill myself. But if u can hold out for so long: the ending kicks ass imho.

  • It drags on too long. The action scenes didn't interest me too much and I don't recall any comedy in it.

  • cat lover

  • JFK of course!

  • Wasn't the end of Wolfs Rain the beginning of it?

  • I didn't like wolfs rain either hb

  • I agree Wolf's Rain sucked. I can't even remember the plot, but I'm pretty sure that's a good thing.

  • I saw Wolf's Rain and I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't. I think the premise of the show could have worked, but the slow pacing simply killed it.

Also, the ending was horrible. Really, really horrible.

Whose bright idea was it to take what is normally a sarcastic remark when someone asks "how did it end" and turn it into the ACTUAL ending?

  • i saw 3 aps of wolf's rain and couldnt stand it it made no senans

  • I liked Wolf's Rain

  • Dude, truly. Wolf's Rain did suck. I forced myself to watch 'til the end and instantly wished I hadn't.

  • Wolf's Rain was boring....x-x; The soundtrack wasn't bad, but the show itself was like: -falling alseep-

  • good green grime! governer gennon gleefully gays guys gayholes/ getting griffith/ gaying griffith gayly.

  • SirGuy is obviously a double-agent, since he's always there when shit goes down.

  • The "sir something something sir" Guy is a turn coat. He goes from working with adon, to the white tigers, to the guard who makes the joke about the ham fisted irony when they rescue griffith.

  • Meh I only ever watched Wolf's Rain cause it had my fave things: Wolves be badass. And Bishies

  • i wasnt sure if it was cowboy bebop or not or if it was from a old western. still awesome ending for cowboy bebop poor spike :(

  • Yeah, as far as the wolf's rain thing. There were some okay parts of it. The soundtrack (especially the Steve Conte tracks) is awesome. But I had the misfortune of watching in in China with english subtitles that were a direct translation. Weird as hell man, weird as hell.

  • Shadow of the colosus is the awsomist game eva

  • Speaking of Cowboy Bebop, why is there an abridged series of it ? *ahem* I mean a good one.

  • You realize to even attempt abridging it would bring legions of angry fanboys to you doorstep ready to lynch you?

  • The episodic format of the show doesn't really lend itself well to abridging. Plus, it made a point of steering clear of anime cliches, so there's no help from that direction either.

  • your gay clown sounds just like darth bobo from tripping the rift without the daffy duck

  • what's wrong with escaflowne? that was the third anime i ever saw after speedracer and voltron(which sucked ***)

  • Who said anything was wrong with Escaflowne?

...Unless you mean the movie. Or any of the, what, half-dozen manga adaptations. But the original series was pretty decent.

  • @hbi2k the movie is ok if you watch it with an open mind and take it for what it is, the problem arises when you go in expecting something like the TV series

  • oh and outlaw star. that was an awesome anime. wish they had made more.

  • I couldn't agree more on the whole Wolf's Rain thing. I actually only watched it for the same reasons you gave, though I only watched three episodes hoping the first and second were just bad mistakes and that it would get better later on. Boy was I wrong!

By the way, are you going to do a Gantz Commentary too after the Berserk Commentary is over?

  • i watched the whole thing aand i'm still not sure what happened

  • okay onna try to ignore that comment about wolf's rain to each his own

  • [insert generic statement about how the commentary is only a reflection of my own personal opinion and anyone who managed to glean some kind of enjoyment from Wolf's Rain is entitled to their own blah blah blah here]

  • I REALLY wanted to like Wolf's Rain, but I constantly found myself bored. There was hardly any plot, it just consisted of a bunch of wolf men wandering around trying to find "paradise".

  • Dito...just dito.

  • lmfao

  • XD he was treated wrong so now he swiched sides

  • so true about wolf's rain. it was really BORING. you'd think a bunch of wolves turning humans would have made for some awesome action scenes, but NOOO, we get whatever their version of awesome was, which was SUCK

  • I'm with you on the Wolf's Rain thing I'm trying to watch it now and I have fallen asleep 3 time and I'm only up to like the 7 ep. so ya it sucks

  • ok having watched the entire wolfs rain series, i have to agree it wasnt that great, i think the ending ruined it for me, overall i kinda liked it just the ending, it was far to depressing, maybe some one should do an abridged series of it and give it a better one

  • the NOT IT ! part was epic ^^

  • I love how not only are big military decisions are made by a simple game of "Not it", but from Griffith's reaction, it seemed like he wasn't even paying attention to the meeting. XD

  • i got the impression that he purposely paused because he wanted to do it

  • god that ephebophile king freaks me the fuck out.

  • WHO CARES!?!

  • Yeah I really really tried to watch wolf's rain but I just couldn't keep with it either. I think the only reason that I watched it was b/c it was on between two better shows on cartoon network and it gave me a break to edit any papers I was writing for school that week.

  • HELLZ YEA, Cowboy Bebop for life, Wolf's Reign to hell

  • It confuses me with this pedofile character did he have sex with griffith in the orignal anime or did griffith have sex with little kids and the old man in the manga?

  • I believe in the manga the old guy had sex with the little boys and griffith. Griffith isnt a pedofile unless you count princess charolette

  • I though Griffith was meant to be like 17 in that part of the manga? Though i hvnt read any berserk for a while.

  • Just because Gennon's a pedophile doesn't mean he can't be attracted to the occasional (relatively) adult man too.

  • but dont forget. in japan the age of consent is 13(not joking) and it was the middle ages and people live to be 30 if they are lucky. so char with grif aint that bad when you think about it. plus it was consentual. unlike the little boys gennon sodomized(since they didnt have a choice. they were his buttslaves. youtube to his google(the company. not google as a word for male organ))

  • actually, it's really just the national age of consent in Japan that's set at 13-14. Most prefectures however pass their own laws on what the age of consent is, ranging from 13 to 18.

    Also, remember Chef's words, "17, you're ready."

  • To add a bit to CronoLegends's reply, pretty much all prefectures forbid relations with minors, which has effects comparable to the laws here in the U.S. Pedophilia is not widely accepted, regardless of the national "age of consent."

  • Death to Smoochy for the underrated win. ^^

And yes, go watch Cowboy Bebop, folks. It has Steve Blum in it, so that's good enough for anyone.

  • Actually I didn't care much for Death to Smoochy. I think the fact that it was hyped as this completely pitch-black, no-holds-barred comedy raised my expectations too much. Then again, I've kind of been desensitized to all but the blackest of black comedy....

  • That happens a lot, actually; just look at Daikatana.

But yeah, after watching a series like Gantz (which I consider to be partly black comedy) , I couldn't imagine other black comedies being quite as dark in comparison.

  • he wants griffith naked? shame on him

by the way i had never heard of cowboy bepop until the day before yesterday and since then i've heard of it 4 times (unintentionally, not like i was searching for it)...

  • gaaah! what?! never heard of cowboy bebop! blasphemy!!! trust me and everyone else, you owe it to yourself to watch it. one of the best anime EVER!!! anyway, yet again another great commentary hbi2k. keep em coming.

  • Cowboy Bebop is the Led Zeppelin of the anime world.

  • Except, you know, enjoyable. (-:

No, seriously, I respect Led Zep and realize that they're this big influence on music and yadda yadda yadda, I just plain don't enjoy listening to them. Bebop is the best of both worlds: good/influential, AND enjoyable.

Well, except for Julia. She was stupid. (-:

  • I agree! I loved cowboy bebop! Mostly the music, but I use to stay up a 1:00 to see it come on t.v! Best anime ever! and Julia wasn't a good charater. just shoot then died!

  • To me it more depends on which songs you actually listen to. I enjoy both a great deal, and really couldn't tell you why I think of Zep when Bebop is on. To me they just mix really well. To each his own I guess

  • Actually, it's the Rolling Stones of anime, cuz it's more bluesy and badass.

Led Zeppelin goes to Akira, and Evangelion is Blue Oyster Cult. XD

  • I'd give Cowboy Bebop to Bad Company. I agree with Akira, Evangelion is more Pink Floyd. >_>

  • Oh man, how did I miss Pink Floyd? XD

  • How did I miss the Rolling Stones!?

  • awesome commentary
