I worked for Roselle disposal. Driver did the right thing. Ejected the load in the middle of the street away from houses and power lines and did not let the quarter million dollar truck burn up. had the truck caught fire the fire would have been much harder to put out inside the body. sometimes people hide things in the trash that you just dont catch every time. you pick up thousands of cans a day it is hard to know exactly what is in there.
I have to admire the neighbour. He did what he thought was best for the community. Although he wouldn't of been able to put out the fire he would try his best. Good for him.
"wheres the fire hydrant? do we have a fire hydrant?" ...duh lady..its the big red and white thing thats been infront of your house since youve lived there
They got it all cleaned up. Fire dept has been going through the debris to determine the cause. They found all bad stuff that should never have been thrown out (or picked up) - kerosene can, car batteries, tailgate grill...
Should've let the fire burn itself out. Less clean up.

Any other firefighters here see this fire and then automatically look for the nearest hydrant?

Its common sense not to throw a car bettery in the trash. C's and D's dont to much harm but a car battery? Thats just stupid

Is this Fairfield's garbage recycling program?
Great job at making a video out of this fiery Fairfield fiasco. Maybe you should send it into Eyewitness News on Channel 7.
