  • amazing song! could listen to it all day.

and its not about drugs or anything, he's singing about staying up late to write a song. which i think is more clever anyway.

  • awesome song great blend of horns and guitars

  • who can play this riff on guitar

  • 5 people are deaf

  • why is it that all the best bands of all time have to be before our era

  • We are playing this song for jazz band. I play trombone. I am so excited :))

  • @sasseybeachgirl That is awesome! :D

  • @sasseybeachgirl Rusty Trombone? hehe couldn't resist...

  • @sasseybeachgirl I played trombone in school too you go rock on and feel that music its abeautiful thing

  • totaly born wrong era-_- EVIL FATE!

  • My mum used to listen to this (only when I forced her to)

I was born in the wrong decade (definitely, they still had food rationing)

    I am 15 (going on 70)

I hate Justin Beiber (whoever he is)

And yes I am listening to this in 2012 (I think)

  • I love this guitar solo !!!!

  • Did anyone in Greenday ever say they were a Chicago fan?

  • @Mustardtigerstain I too was born in the wrong decade

  • I love the myth(s) about what this song is about. Kinda like "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and "Eight Miles High", people insist it's about drugs when the reality is it was about writting a song, according to the song writer Robert Lamm.

  • @rumidude and puff the magic dragon

  • @rumidude even though though terry kath died by accidentally shooting himself while he was high

  • this song is about cocaine and the long periods of waiting on the dope man to get there

  • @PEOPLESNATION78745 your nuts this is just a fun play with words DRUGS?? you must be on them to reach your conclusion

  • When they made good music, shame they lost it.

  • Music. In one of it's many forms. All are to be appreciated. Any Age, Era, or Genre.

  • I can play this on clarinet!:D We play it in my 7th grade band all. the. time. We're gonna be playing it in a parade along with " Baby " by Justin Bieber!!:DDD <3

  • Yes! my man Jimmy play that trombone. Thanks

  • Whenever any of my music teachers says "Go to rehearsal number 25", somebody (usually a trombonist) ALWAYS says "or 6 to 4" without fail. It's awesome.

  • And it's all about whether to drop another tab of acid or not ,....just great stuff.

  • Awesome guitar solo. Awesome horns. Excellent audio. Thanks for posting.

  • They say that this song has nothing to do with drugs but only writing a song. I have never sat cross legged on the floor, twenty-five or six minutes to four o clock to write a god damn song. Just sayin.

  • 25 or six to four yeahhhhhhhh

  • my radio brought me here

  • King of the hill brought me here

    :D

  • @CommandoEb King of the hill brought me here too =D

  • I've always liked the old Chicago with the horns. So much of a better sound/band than the latter years/sound.

  • one of the best guitar solos ever :)

  • he was DEFINATELY talking aboiut tripping

  • @evangelistbarry65 Did LSD while listening to this in the seventy's, good times for sure.

  • great beat, musical genius............

  • @szarbaugh1 The tempo was so slow then, i like the faster music of today better.

  • @mcgaugh57 thats because people were more laid back then not singing about how rich they were or how hard they were or how many ho's they got.

  • @baconhead10 Just drugs and tripping, much more wholesome :)

  • great song, i was born in the wrong decade

  • @Mustardtigerstain we were put in this decade for a reason my friend, to take this shitty decade and make something meaningful out of it .

  • @Mustardtigerstain me too!

  • @Mustardtigerstain Twas great. This was on one of the first albums I bought, way way back then.

  • Picture this: It's somewhere around 3:3O in the morning... the beer in your hand is half empty... they're still passin' the mirror around the room... you look at the clock on the wall... you're seein' double and it's all blurry... and you ask yourself, "should I try to do some more?" It's 25 or 6 to 4.

To one of the great guitarists of rock...R.I.P Terry

  • QUE AGRADABLE PUDE SER COMENTAR LO SIGUIENTE EN LOS AÑOS 70s HAY UNA BAJADA QUE ES LAS FAMOSAS TORRES DE SATELITE, EN EL ESTADO DE MEXICO, MEXICO. Y CON ESTA MUSICA REVENTABAMOS LOS AUTOS COMO BARRACUDAS, MUSTANG¨S, CARROS CON MOTORES 350, 351, 440, ETC.. RECORDAR ES VIVIR

    [insert Grammar Nazi]

    *morons

  • Prob one of the greatest solo ever playd, after 40 y its still take the breath out of me. It couldent be anything left of the guitar after tthat solo, its like there is nothing more to say, just bow. It's not easy 2 take up your own guitar and traggling "house of rising sun" feels just stupid. The whole song is a big punch, goooooodby.KO 8-9-10 an out!

  • hahaha Lucky as noted below is Tom Petty!

  • great song but the recording seems distantly dull and muddy compared to the diirect power of the CTA album which is a recording masterpiece of its time

  • How many people listened to this song because they heard Lucky From King Of The Hell Talk About it

  • @ketanjn101 i thought the devil was the king of hell???

  • @Daltonalex25 christ holds the key to the gates of hell. cant quote the scri8pture google it only guy o go to hell and come back too. if the road to hell is paved with good intentions then i supose good intentions are the only way out as well.

  • 6 to 4 is 24...

  • Love this song! 25 or 6 to 4444444444444444444 yeah!

  • I used to think this song was called 250624. Lol

  • I would have loved to have played this in Jazz band (back in the late 90s). We had the typical Birdland; One More Time, Chuck Corea; After the Love is Gone, etc. We DID get to play Channel One Suite, though, which was just badass. Unfortunately, our drummer wasn't too hot. Props to your Instructor(s).

  • babbbbb y babbbbbbbbbbby babbbbbyy....

  • I'm playing this in Jazz band man is it cunfusing!

  • I played trombone in jazz ensemble 1981-85... That song is the reason I play drums now (lol)... Too difficult for horns... Fun song though... Good luck...

  • @detroitfirefighter really man? i am a first trumpet player in my high school, in CSU's honor band, and i play every once and a while with a jazz group called cream of the crop. all because i didn't quit. i'm not downing you at all. but i'm just interested, with a song thats even this easy, why you quit?

  • Got tired of trombone ('75-'85). Added drums/perc/piano in '81(dads advice). Drum scholarship to TSU '85. Principal Perc. for Detroit Metro-Orchestra & Detroit Inst. of the Arts '89-'94 (40 state National Tour every year). Played with world reknown jazz & classical musicians. Took hiatus in '95 to become a firefighter. Now, that I'm married w/kids, I'm a part time studio musician, in spare-time. Drums paid my cars, school, apartments. No regrets at for switching instruments. Traveled all of USA.

  • I personally know atleast 30+ professional drummers, making $, & having fun. I personally know less than 10 trombone & trumpet players combined. As a brass player, your technique had better be unique, if you're going to make a career of it. It applies to drumming too... However, I found drumming easier than trombone. Plus, how many trombonist you know, that always get the girl? Hmm? (lol). If you're going to make a career of playing trumpet, you'll have to be great at it. Good luck...

  • @mandms42 it's easy dude

  • brain stew green day

  • @slasheryer green day is shety. they fukin copy everybody

  • CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY = OOOWWWWEEEEE !!!!

  • Even though the band is called chicago this song reminds of New York in the 1940's

  • this is the first time ive heard this song. my buddy showed me these guys. now i cant get enough lol

  • Where is the Blow up Justin Bieber button?

  • I'm In 8th grade marching band, I play tenor sax, going in about an hour to start practicing then at 10 is the parade, cant wait, it's going to be awesome!! Wish me luck

  • great horn section bring the good music back!

  • sorry kzfisher. i accidently pressed thumbs down. im a horn player my self and i totally agree with your comment

  • trying to get my band teacher to let us play a couple chicago tunes in our jazz band, this being one of them XD

  • @ThatScarab444 in our stage band we are playing this and im listening to it for any differences

  • anyone hear this in king of the hill?

  • I breakdance to this.

  • @12321Walrus That's a GREAT question, so here's the answer, Robert Lamm had insomnia so bad 1 night, he was seeing cross-eyed N couldn't tell whether his watch said it was 25 minutes or 6 minutes to 4 a.m.

  • これも、私の70年代ロックの扉を全開させた不滅曲~偉大なり"CHICAGO"~"長い夜"~テリー・キャス~貴方が生きてくれていたら!(悔)

  • @blackandtanful hell yeah!

  • @blackandtanful

I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU SAID BUT I LIKE IT!!!

  • I'm playing this in marching band, and since I play bass clarinet I get to play the beginning part and the lead part =)

    love this song!!!

  • What the hells with the name of this song? Who can help me out with this? Im just curious

  • @12321Walrus As for the curious title, write Robert Lamm says, "It's just a reference to the time of day"--as in "waiting for the break of day" at 25 or (2)6 minutes to 4 a.m. (3:35 or 3:34 a.m.)

  • Every young air guitarist in the seventies wanted to do that guitar solo.....simply awesome and the guy isn't in the Rock hall of fame? wow.

  • @854RRR Yeah... I bet Jan Wenner went to school with Terry Kath and got his ass kicked in a guitar battle of something.

  • @854RRR i cant even do the solo in air guitar, such awsome solo

  • My school's marching band plays this. It's so awesome.

  • i like this im playing this with my band and now i really want to play it!!! this should be interesting ;)

  • Great tune. Miss those days!

  • :O my school band is playing this song :D this is so awesome :3

  • Green day totally ripped this song off with Brain Stew, which is pure sacrilage

  • @MattTheHack92

Yeah man, I never noticed that myself. But in listening to it, I can completely hear it now.

  • OK SERIOUSLY WHO HIT THE DISLIKE BUTTON!!!??? u guys r retarded for doing that WOW! keep it up chicago never die!

  • @sexybabe09able The deprived youth of our current culture hit the dislike button. Them or the f@%king rap brain dead individuals. One of each perhaps.

  • @TheKhaibear You'd be suprised. most of my classmates like classic rock.

  • This solo gives me a woody...

  • I'm not usually a fan of horns in rock songs, but for some reason it works well here. Just a groovy song (esp. the guitar solo) even if the lyrics are a little weird.

  • Yess their coming to houston too bad terry kath wont be peforming R.I.P

  • Love everything about Chicago!

  • LOVE THIS SHIT

  • Chicago was t he only Jazz Rock band. We had many variations in our music back then, Folk Rock, classic rock as in ELO heavy metal, hard Rock etc. Their was a lot of experimenting with music during the heady days of the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's.

  • This is the only song I like by Chicago, in fact its one of my favorite songs. It beats my favorite band "Nickelback" by a little, but still.

  • @ethanloli ................. I have no words.

  • @ethanloli YOU JUST WALKED INTO THE WRONG NEIGHBORHOOD MOTHERFUCKER.

  • @ethanloli yu b trawllin

  • @ethanloli u forgot to say #sarcasm, my disciple.

  • Love the brass at the beginning.

  • I wish teenagers of today knew good music, now they just have the crappy Justin Bieber or any of those other "artists" as they call them.

  • @Emmashaum That's kinda like people back then saying, "I wish teens today knew good music like Elvis...now they just have the crappy Donny Osmond." Don't blanket everything we have today under Justin Bieber. There's loads more than just prefab pop.

  • @crocetti1984 Oh really like what?

  • @MichaelIanHenry Behaviour aside, I thought Amy Winehouse's music is/was excellent, especially her album before the "Rehab" one. There's Adele, there's Gorillaz (have you heard their song Empire Ants?) Michael Buble (albeit he's retro), Any of John Mayer's blues stuff, Corinne Bailey Rae, The Civil Wars, Joss Stone, Erykah Badu, Driftless Pony Club...there's some cool stuff other than the 13 songs they play on the radio.

  • Such a fun song to play on rockband with guitar. Able to play it on hard, but I can't imagine how expert is...

  • @iamnatman it's harder than hard. I've only nailed the solo once.

  • Song is about shooting of 4 antiwar demonstrators at Kent State university by National Guard back int he 70's when they were having a sit- in demonstration. I remember this very well.

  • J

Just don't hear good stuff like this anymore.

  • This song is so METAL!!

  • Our HS band used to play this, Holy Holly, and When you say Bud back in the early 70's when I played football. Always got us fired up.

  • @SuckBigHorseDick Peter Cetera isn't dead, where did you hear that????

  • or they wer just too genius

  • I heard this song was about him getting high on coke...?? Listen closely & that makes sense....

  • @cmrutter1 Nope. It's about writing music really late at night. (25 or 26 minutes to 4 AM). Of course that's just my interpretation.

  • @freddyhoff7 -thank you, it is a controversial song, I guess only the writer himself knows the real meaning, lol!! TY!!

  • @freddyhoff7 I get that he has a bad case of Writer's block

  • DJ Bles One rules the world...

  • The intro reminds me of Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin :)

  • @ColorfulHyena the main bass riff is actually REALLY SIMILAR to "Baby I'm Gonna Leave You" from Led Zeppelin at 2:40 o.o

    I was really amazed xD

  • @Dan1loBr

Oh yes, that was the one, not Dazed and Confused Dx Thanks. I keep mixing up titles. Bahaha

  • @ColorfulHyena you're getting... dazed and confused ;O

  • melody sounds alot like "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" but different enough to get a separate copyright

  • @birdebyrd it is excalty the same thing

  • Best solo in any song? Who has heard all the solos? I like the stuff he does between the verses just as much.

  • How about best guitar solo of any song!!

  • This guy made that guitar cry. Love it

  • 1:58 - 3:28 = The best guitar solo in ANY song, including Comfortably Numb, Stairway to Heaven, Time, or any Classic Rock song! This IS the most classic Classic Rock song!!

  • @CMD9889 there is no such thing as best solo ever. never were or never will be.

also, dont compare songs to each other

  • @Anghorn32 okay MOM

  • @CMD9889 very mature
