  • My heart is broken

  • It's no wonder this is the best recording of this song, after all, she wrote it.

I just found that out . Please, no "well DUH"s

  • I was lucky enough to see her in concert in '79 I think......amazing!! Love her.

  • Wish I could see her on YouTube, performing Never Stop Her Heart..one of my favorites..maybe it's up here, but I can't find it..

  • I wore this album out, literally, when I was a teen. Saw her tour with Jackson Browne in 1978, and bought the album the next day at Finders. Then we saw her solo in Toledo in 1979, when she had her second album out. What a great voice. Thank you, Linda Ronstadt, for singing her songs for the rest of us to enjoy -- and for helping to launch her career.

  • what a beautiful song....was researching lyrics and I found this.....a band called The Kentucky Cow Tippers are playing our place this month and they play this song......nice

  • Wouldn't it be "mind up my mind I would leave today"?

  • Beautiful! Listen to Bryndle too!

  • Nice...

    With you eyes closed especially.

  • beautiful song, but i was introduced to this song with the alison krauss version so i enjoy that one more

  • listen dusty singing the song

  • She is a masterpiece in and of herself. I think she is truly the best love ballad songwriter ever. And of all the people who sing songs she's written, she sings them best. (I guess that makes me a pretty big fan, eh?)

  • what a beautiful song! and i love her voice!

  • Such a talented songwriter. Karla has so many great singable songs. Always beautiful melodies and full of emotion. Love this classic 1977 album to bits!

  • A great song and by far the best version!!! I heard with James Taylor and solo- a great and gifted lady!!!

  • A long lost favorite.

    ty

  • After all these years, still such a beautiful song.

  • wish i'd gone to the show with her and James Taylor. Karla can do no wrong.

  • I saw Karla in Seattle, at Bumbershoot in about '89. I had loved her albums for years...it was a transcendent moment.

  • i perfer dusty springfield singing the song

  • I first heard this song at a Ronstadt concert. Linda was plugging Karla big time! She told everybody they had to go out and buy Karla's record. She was right. I've been hooked on Karla ever since.

  • I am 'of the 60's and learned of her when her first album came out. later saw her in Portland, OR in about 99. I believe no one speaks to the heart more than this wonderful lady, with a voice that says more than words and notes.

  • I wish I'd heard this version before the more up-beat.

    Beautiful...

Will have to listen to it a few times before I get the other one out of my head.

    Thanks

  • what a fantastic song! she does it so well. after all, it is her song. rondstadt's version is very good, but not as vulnerable. may karla rest in peace.

  • @tearmann you said, " may Karla rest in peace". Is she dead? If so details , please. Im shocked. a big KB fan for years..

  • @cvte2 oops, my bad! she is alive and well -)

  • Thank you for uploading this wonderful song!

  • Great song. I've loved it since I heard it in the late 70's.

  • Saw Karla in Norman OK in 79 for $3 best $3 I ever spent I had never heard of her before that night, thanks for the memories

  • gonna miss you all :((

  • Akira

Thank you so much for posting this.

You can't imagine how many times I listened to this album back in the late '70s.

To be able to once again here these songs.....priceless.

  • thank for your comment!! i can because i did like you^^

  • @spinozareader lov lov lov this album, i mean cd.

  • My Heart...........oh what a song......

  • If there be such a thing as this 'singer-songwriter' era we're in now, Karla was not only a pioneer, she was a fearless and honest practitioner. Way too much depth I guess for the mainstream. Thankfully some other voices recognized her greatness and recorded her songs.

  • Theme song of Red State's Erick Erickson

  • Only one word describes this - beautiful.

  • I've been listening to Karla's Wild Heart of the Young and Restless Nights albums for 30 years. Her recent work still inspires.

  • I'm a long time fan who found her music

back in the late 70's after moving to the midwest from the boston area. In the vein of music by

Bonnie Raitt, Steely Dan, Jackson Browne & Joni

Mitchell, Karla's lyrics were real masterpieces

and her voice a lonely sound scape so many

related to, those lucky enough. You rarely here such confessional

songwriting and a voice like this to match. Its

great she has a live recording, much like Phoebe Snow, another jewel and under appreciated all these years

  • @littlebibs

Same deal here. Boston to NC to Cinci, OH. Karla B., LInda R., Bonnie, R., Jackson B., and Phoebe Snow were my anchors--memorable stuff!

  • i heard linda first...but this is the first time i really enjoyed an original version.

  • ........the Train's gone down the track and I've stayed behind..... (well put) S - I miss you terribly!

  • What a wonderful song. It's good to see so many KB fans on here. I've been a fan since the late 70's. I have 3 copies of her 1st album and 2 copies of her 2nd & 3rd album(all on vinyl of course). I just kept wearing them out. Check out her website at karlabonoffdotcom. She released a double cd live album in 2007. If you buy it from her store, she will autograph it for you. I've got mine and I just can't hardly turn it off. It has all the best from old & new.

  • Forgot all about her. I have a huge vinal collection and I think I have her in there somewhere, gotta check. Thanks for puting so much of her stuff up here. reminds me of better times...wayne all the way from nova scotia canada

  • I 1st heard Linda Ronstadt sing this. Didn't pick up a Karla Bonoff Lp till many years later. Then got all her LP's at used record stores, and the best of CD at my Library. Then the 1st Bryndle CD, which is fantastic!

Karla is 56 today, 12-27-08 - Play all things by Karla today!

  • Way back when I was in high school I received this LP as a Christmas gift from a friend of mine. I had never heard of Karla, but when I listened to this album I was hooked. She has a beautiful voice. Her songs helped me though some rough times. Thank you for sharing, Akira.

  • Thank for your comment^^ Akira

  • saw ms bonoff in mid 80s in boulder co. small venue.sat at a table maybe six feet in front of her. when she sang this, like she was singing to me. will never forget. she ended up playing there again couple weeks later, went again. fantastic.

  • Beautiful song, great performance. Dusty Springfield covered this song and put her magic on it in '79. Thanks for posting it.

  • There's an aching, simple beauty in Karla's version... pure and sweet. I've always loved this version.... the best.

  • What a voice!! A gorgeous song..love it

  • Love this song. I'd only heard Alison Krauss and Linda Rondstadt singing the song before this. Thanks for posting this lovely song. :)

  • I'm so glad you like her ver.^^ akira

  • lovely... just beautiful..

  • Akira - A beautiful, heartbreaking song-- perfectly describing more than one bad relationship I've been in over the years. I had forgotten how much this piece of music has meant to me until I came upon it by accident here. Thanks so very, very much for giving it back to me.

  • Thank for your nice comment!! Akira

  • I love this song, so powerful and sad at the same time.

  • Thank you for comment!

  • thax for your comment!

  • Such a sad and powerful song.

  • I love this song and appreciate that you put this up here. However, you have one line incorrect, I believe. It's "I made up my mind I would LEAVE today," not "live." Right?

  • Ok I see. Thank you for your advice!!

  • Thank you for posting this hauntingly beautiful song, akira. So many times I listened to this album back in the 1970s, and this was the most powerful song on it. I am amazed and grateful to see it on youtube.
