I believe it was the indians who coined the phrase "Buffalo Soldiers" for the African-American soldiers. They were an asset to our wars and got little respect. Thank goodness we now recognise their worth. Great song by the way. Thanks for sharing it.
My uncle Rosevelt Tigner was my Captain Buffalo, He was a Great Like Woody Strode. He taught me so much about life and people;how everybody just trying to make it. To remember see the good in all life experiences. Learn to appreciate what one does for country. Just Love and Love some more. Here to a great movie and Great men!!!!
Woody Strode , all time Hollywood great , if only he'd lived in more enlightened times , but then maybe he wouldn't be such a figure to admire, sense a world of politics behind his eyes
Revenge is the only word, 'that' does not stand in military terms, as a military action, therefore; when a military unit commits revenge, there 'is' no honor. Revenge is the only word you could put on this stupidity of killing old women, men and children. What honor is there in such an action? Therefore, rescind the Medals of Honor for the Wounded Knee Massacre (battle, in military terms).
Read the epic novel Rescue at Pine Ridge, 5 stars Amazon Int., the story of the revenge and redemption.
14 years after the Little Big Horn, the 7th Cavalry was entrapped in a box canyon, and if it wasn't for the 9th Cavalry, there would have been a second massacre of the 7th Cav.
The Buffalo Soldiers, 9th Cavalry was rewarded with Presidential Parade Escort and Guard Duties for accomplishments, furthermore; the 9th Cav. received as many citations as most of the white cavs.
Read the epic novel, "Rescue at Pine Ridge", 5 stars Amazon, and Barnes & Noble.
@realcav11: Hate to burst your bubble, if you know your history, and you do, you know the Troopers were known as "Buffalo" Soldiers to their enemies, so let's not debate fine distinctions.
The 7th Cavalry was entrapped the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. The 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers rescued the 7th Cavalry.
Read the novel, Rescue at Pine ridge, the story of the rescue of the famed 7th Cavalry by the Buffalo Soldiers, and visit website; rescue at pine ridge. com. The novel embodies Native Americans, Outlaws and Buffalo Soldiers, in the days of the Native American Wars with the approach USA. Story is about, brutality, compassion, reprisal, bravery, heroism and gallantry.
Phillip, this IS a good movie. One that does justice to the memory of the Buffalo Soldiers. It's something that is STILL left out of the history books; that most of the fighting against the Indians and the U.S. Cavalry was done by black soldiers.

@mocharger06 I don't know about MOST of the fighting, but the 9th sure as hell got more than their fair share of dirty jobs.
