Amazing and very beautiful movie. Visual effects were brilliant for that time, no wonder the movie won the Oscar. The 80's had some kind and sweet Sci-Fi films - E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, Flight of the Navigator and Cocoon of course. I like the fact that it were calm films - not action wars like in Star Wars or scary monsters like in Alien films. All the actors/actresses did a brilliant job. Movies today need to be movies like this before. In fact, I don't want the special effects in. I want to see the real film rolling with that classic sound. Movies today don't cut it like it used to back then.

Cocoon Proves it. And it's one of the saddest movies I've ever seen in my entire life. In Fact this is one of those movies that changes your opinions in life. Who, you are, what you do. I always cry after the movie, and I don't want to stop watching it. It never got old.

I agree with you but when I saw it as a kid, it scared me. Today I own the movie and I think it is hilarious, sad and a good human feeling movie. It is actually one of the few movies that can make me cry. I think about my grandparents when I watch it.
