We will all be judged for OUR own choices in life. Just because you prefer to believe lies and hear say over what is the truth, or just NOT believe anything at all because it makes you feel safer, doesn't mean you will be unaffected. Although I am a Christian, this isn't from a biblical stand point. It is from an honest one. get with the program. Or not. Your choice after all..free will and all that.
It's not our job to force anyone to follw God's laws, it is to simply spread tell others about the laws and to spread the news of salvation, afterall, it's your soul, not ours. you may be laughing at us right now, but if you go down the wrong way after death, you won't be laughing at all.
This is absolutely ridiculous!! Women give life...government stepping in, in these cases shown..shows how our government has nothing better to do than step in where it is not their business or decision! Pray that this is NOT passed!
@Crazeemom1978 Save your prayers and vote those idiots out of office......the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution in which federal laws take precedence over state laws when regulating the same activity will stop this amendment regardless of its passage.
This amendment is a publicity stunt and a waste of time.
Who does it really benefit when the lawmakers and the hospitals in this currently troubled nation that has it's head up it's ass for a huge number of reasons seriously state that a fetus has more rights than a pregnant woman? A FETUS IS NOT A PERSON...A FERTILIZED EGG IS NOT A PERSON. To force this upon expectant mothers is not only a violation of human rights but is a sin. How dare these supposed "professionals" who are really self made big shots with shit in their pants play God.
@gawdawlmitey When does a fertilized egg become a person? God says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you," It sounds like you are a person before you are even conceived. How is it a sin not to allow a woman to abort, and not a sin to abort a child in the womb? Also, isn't it playing God when a woman aborts a life? I just don't think you are seeing the whole picture.
@Bombshell205 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,"
But....what if you're not a christian and do not believe in anything the bible says? Aren't laws supposed to be for everybody.....and not just cator to one religion?
"isn't it playing God when a woman aborts a life?"
Isn't it playing god when a defibrillator shocks somebody back to life? Is playing god against the law?
@clubindiana4 If you don't believe anything in the Bible, then there are also laws that you don't believe in like You shall not kill or steal. Also, where do you think your morals came from? Do you think it's ok to commit adultery? God gave us these laws so that we will live a worth-while life, honoring Him. God also gave us brains to use to create things like defibrillators and Hospitals. It's a shame some have chosen to use their brains to murder babies in the womb.
@clubindiana4 Morals and commandments may predate Christianity, but they don't predate God. Christianity started with the life of Jesus, but God spoke of all these things even before that. So, Yes, it is really an issue. Non-Christians follow Christian rules everyday, like I said, you shall not kill or steal. The US was founded on Christianity. I think if the 53,000,000+ babies that were aborted since 1973 could speak, they would say that someone was forcing their morals on them.
@clubindiana4 because you may not believe that God exist, does not mean that He doesn't. I have faith that says He does, and I have experiences that prove to me that He does. God is the author of Jewish rules. Islam and Pagan rules came much later, and based much of them on those very same rules. The US was founded by Christians. Christianity if what led them through the founding of this nation. I notice you had nothing to say about those 53,000,000+ dead babies.
@Bombshell205 "you had nothing to say about those 53,000,000"
Right. Other peoples choices are beyond my control.
Why were the founding fathers so intent on Freedom of Religion if they intended to force christianity on everybody? These were educated men.....they KNEW there can be no freedom of religion without freedom from it.
Why were the founding fathers so intent on Freedom of Religioun if they intended to force christianity on everybody? These were educated men.....they KNEW there can be no freedom of religion without freedom from it.
Wouldn't it be more accurate to say YOU WISH the US was founded on christianity?
And....since it clearly wasn't......isn't it time you started accepting reality?
@Bombshell205 Since prop 26 was voted down this subject is moot. As for playing god, so many people do that on a daily basis. Since the bible was written by earth men, for earth men, to control earth men, who can really say if there is a god really? What kind of god lets the people he supposedly created in his image be so abused by assholes? Why do the assholes always seem to have the upper hand? And don't give me that crap about how god works in mysterious ways. Fairy tales.
@gawdawlmitey He created men with free will. He did not create robots to follow every command it was given. Free Will allows love to happen. Love, without free will, is called rape. Protecting life will never be a moot point. God loves you, gawdawlmitey, more than you can ever imagine. He created you for more than this.
I am conservative, but I believe women should make their own choices, not the government. I do not have much faith in the foolish hee haws of Mississippi. Let's see what happens when these wing nuts try to get fertility treatments or wind up with an ectopic pregnancy.
Any one who votes yes for this deserves bad karma.
I am a Christian but I am still voting no. Nt bc I believe in one side or the other, but bc God gave us free will. Bc in whatever decision we make in our lives, I know that at the end we will all have to be accountable to him. I will not be accountable for anyone else. I also am not going to force feed my beliefs on anyone as well. I will talk to them and let them make the choice(free will). I may be wrong for my choice in this, but that is btw me and God. Not me and the government.
According to Prop 26, if passed, I potentially would've already been in jail for multiple miscarriages due to factors I COULD NOT CONTROL. (As well as several friends and acquaintances). Everyone knows someone that this will effect either directly or indirectly. If the intent is a ban on abortion, then try to pass a bill on that merit instead of hijacking the reproductive rights of 50% of the population.
(1) Any person WILLFULLY AND KNOWINGLY causing, by means of any instrument, medicine, drug or other means whatever, any woman pregnant with child to abort or miscarry, or attempts to procure or produce an abortion or miscarriage shall be guilty of a felony unless the same were done by a duly licensed, practicing physician:
(a) Where necessary for the PRESERVATION OF THE MOTHER'S LIFE;
It's about forcing women to do what the right wingers want them to do - that's the bottom line here. In the eyes of these forced birthers, women are ONLY here to give birth. That's it. Once they are able to get pregnant, in the eyes of forced birthers, they cease to be human beings and become only walking wombs, there to serve men and children, and with no thoughts, ideas or legitimate wants, even when it comes to survival.
@splashy9 It's a matter of right and wrong. Murder is wrong. It is against the law in our country, except for babies. Women should not be allowed to murder there children. I will pray for you. That God will open you eyes and reveal to you the truth. He loves you. You are obviously very confused about the truth of abortion and the amendment that will stop it in my state.
@bmyers251 Wow. You are obviously the one confused. I'm christian, and I don't think that a person that is not born yet should have more rights than the mother giving agonizing labor to the child.
this is amazing, playing on the lack of knowledge of people. pick up a biology book, the human body KILLS many organisms much more advanced than a day one zygote/fetus. this is one step away from the old testament, "menstrual cycle is a crime" days. pro-lifers need to stfu and improve adoption/foster services, that and education is the only way to reduce abortions. forcing your personal choices on others is wrong, persecution is not our job
What a stupid state. You can't constitutionally ban Abortions in ANY state, due to Row V. Wade, a federal law which makes abortion legal in every state. Even if the majority votes "Yes", Prop 26 can't constitutionally be enforced.
I live in Mississippi and I will be voting NO!! Initiative 26 is so poorly worded that it puts us all at risk. The government needs to focus on getting our economy back on track, not getting involved in decisions best left to a woman, her doctor, and her faith.
This is insane! What cracks me up about the video "Will Personhood Ban Contraceptives" will not let me comment without my comment meeting approval of the person who posted it, nor will it let anyone rate it, pretty much giving the look that this video is well liked, since all the comments are for Prop 26. I don't think I would get an abortion, but if I did, it's none of the government's business!
@tobygray There may not be any direct cost linked to this proposed law, but the costs of it will be very substantial. Medical malpractice insurance will absolutely go up, and so will the cost of health care for patients in order to offset the cost to health care providers. With a large increase in unwanted pregnancies, welfare and other government assistance will skyrocket. Every person in Mississippi will be affected by the economic repercussions of this law if it's enacted, that is a fact.
this has nothing to do with devaluing women. Not sure exactly why I am being asked that question, because it really makes no sense as to what 26 is about. 26 will define a baby as a person from the moment of conception that has nothing to do with devaluing women whatsoever
@bmyers251 Oh no? Google Rennie Gibbs . Google: Bei Bei Shuai; Google: Amanda Kimbrough! What about women who don't have / can't afford health care? Planned Parenthood provides health care to women who otherwise can't afford it, but people like you want to completely eliminate Planned Parenthood. If a woman is pregnant and doesn't get proper prenatal care because she can't afford it and then the "baby" dies should she be held accountable? Where does this lead?
@elizturner13 Well I hope enough ppl will come out and vote... Im afraid alot of ppl are not even aware there is smthg to vote on Nov 8.. But of course these extremists all know about it and will be there with bells and whistles on.
@bmyers251 To say that it can hurt ALL pregnant women for one thing. For another, it shows only snippets and not enough solid "evidence" to support the claim that it will "hurt ALL pregnant women." Give us the links to these mentioned cases so we can review them all.
Some people are just completely clueless as to what this is all about.. Why would any one vote no? Do you not have a heart? Lets stop murder.. not keep it going
@bmyers251 I had 2 ectopic pregnancies before I got pregnant with my son. I'm grateful to the emergency room doctors for their care and swift actions in both cases. I never would have lived to have my wonderful son.
@ScarletAtheist I am glad that you are ok... but I do not understand what that has to do with prop 26? go to yeson26.net to get the facts. It will take you to the actual amendment and it says nothing about that.
@bmyers251 I've read the amendment. It leaves no exception for the life of the woman. The "baby" may very well have still been "alive" when I had surgery to remove it. But it was "alive" inside my fallopian tube. Had I not had treatment the tube would have burst and I would have bled to death. Not to mention that one of the forms of birth control that could potentially be outlawed are IUDs. In my case both ectopic pregnancies were conceived while I was on the pill. I conceived my son ...
@ScarletAtheist A baby might have been alive in your tube, but chances are it wouldn't have survived. I am glad that you see that all birth control won't be outlawed as opposed to the popular lies. I see your name says atheist and that makes it more understanding as to why you would be opposed to 26. God gave us the choice of free will and you are more than entitled to your opinion or your beliefs. But if you ever do decide to accept Christ... my email is bmyers1218@gmail.com. I wish you well
@bmyers251 ...while I was on depo provera and no... I did not miss a shot. So far my IUD is ONLY form of birth control that has been effective and safe for me to use. Luckily I live in CA but I can't imagine what could happen to woman like me if they're forced to switch birth control, or not use it all.
@bmyers251 also for clarification purposes, I was asking the original question to the people who claim to be completely pro-life and christians and against the amendment. Because someone saying they are a pro-life Christian, but against 26 is a contradictory statement. I do realize that some people are pro-choice and therefore this did not apply to them. I do not know your standing, that is between you and God. Not for me to judge you whatsoever your standing might be.
@bmyers251 For the love of God and every human being .. Would you radical taliban morons please all pick ONE state and secede and leave the rest of us alone! You will not be happy until women are chained up and forced to get pregnant and give birth as many times as they are able! You fucking retards!!
@bmyers251 I figured that.. But you extreme anti-choicers are indistinguishable from the taliban! You would feel very at home in Afghanistan.. Even Saudi Arabia is to the left of you guys! It surprises me how much you hate them considering you share the same anti-woman anti-democracy views!
So please do the rest of us a favor and just move there, Im sure you will love it.. Or else.. please pick a state in the south and secede and do whatever you want.. Let the sane people live in peace!
@MsKBrennan Prop 26 has nothing whatsoever to do with 'anti-choice,' 'anti-woman,' or 'anti-democracy.' I understand that you feel strongly about your "right" to have an abortion, but there's no reason to resort to ridiculous hyperbole and lies.
anti-choice: Prop 26 gives choice to the unborn.
anti-woman: Prop 26 would cover both male and female unborn.
anti-democracy: Prop 26 is up for VOTE, so I've no idea where you pulled that from.
@cazcow WTF!! What about the woman? What about her choice? Why should she be forced to give birth if she does not want to for any personal reason. Pregnancy and childbirth is not something easy.. It takes a toll on a womans body and can result in injury and death.. Why should a woman be forced to go through that pain and risk her life for a pregnancy she does not wish to keep? Its not your business! STFU!
@MsKBrennan Pro-abortionist: What about the woman? *a commendable position*
Anti-abortionist: What about the baby? *also a commendable position*
Take a breath, realize the other side is not evil, and get over yourself. If you disagree about when life begins, fine, but disagree intelligently. Lying about the other side and slinging gems like "fucking retard" adds nothing to the debate and just makes you match the description of your own accusation.
It has EVERYTHING to do with being anti-choice and forced birthing. It's about others deciding what a woman will do if she is pregnant. That's anti-choice.
@splashy9 Has your frothing hatred of those who disagree with you blinded you to the point that you can't see how asinine your comments are? Simply because the popular labels are 'pro-life' and 'pro-choice' does NOT automatically mean the other side is 'anti-life' or 'anti-choice.' Someone who sees a fetus as a human deserving of rights, the right to life among those, cannot be anti-choice by wanting to protect the unborn. At best it's a wash, choice of mother vying with choice of unborn.
You will not stop abortions. The REAL issue is whether they will be safe or not, and whether women can make their own decisions about their health care.
@Szedg Sometimes a C-section is necessary. NO WOMAN should be forced into it. I had a C-section with my son. His heart rate dropped every time I contracted. I dilated to 5 1/2 cms after 10 hours, 11 hours later I was still at 5 1/2 cms at which point I was rushed in for an emergency C-section. They gave me pain killers but didn't give them enough time to take effect. It felt like the entire left side of my abdomen was being set on fire when they cut me open.
These situations seem to have less to do with personhood laws and more to do with hospitals' attitudes towards delivering babies when and where THEY want to. Cesarean surgery means a woman spends at least a couple nights in the hospital, more money for them that way, too. Personhood laws are just an avenue by which hospitals can legally force women who can't otherwise be coerced to have Cesareans. Plenty of women are coerced every year; let's work on solving unnecessary C-sections!
good vid, and I'm shocked the some of the "theoratical" examples I would use in an argument, have already became a very sad reality.
charged with murder for giving birth (to only 1 live baby)? will they next charge a mom with child abuse for not having enought money to buy the iron pills they suggest you you take while preg'?
and I (don't) want to see the day they refuse to let a preg' mom into a sport club, saying they don't want to take the risk it will hurt the baby.
Concerning prop 26 in my area Undisclosed... Right across from a planned parenthood office where I witnessed 3 hoody cloaked individuals defacing a vote on 26 poster spray painting (FUCK THIS) And even drawing a stick figure of a man stabbing a smaller stick figure with the brilliant statement fuck Pro life... Ah the essence of western civilisation a millions dead in the name of western Empirialism.. And now funding another Eugenics project...
Giving fetuses rights in the manner outlined by Prop 26 does not necessitate the actions described in the video. To suggest otherwise is wrong and disingenuous.
1-Forcing rape victims to carry to term would still be akin to slavery, and thus wrong.
2-Not allowing life-threatening pregnancies to be aborted would still be a denial of basic self-defense, and thus wrong.
3-Not allowing VBACs with a reasonable success rate would still be an intrusion of one's freedom to parent, and thus wrong.
@ScarletAtheist If the law does not allow for it (which this one doesn't), then law enforcement officials and doctors who choose to ignore the law would be exceeding their power. That they *might* choose to do that is a poor argument against Prop 26, as you're assuming police and medical professionals don't care about the law. If that were the case, they could force these decisions on women now even in absence of new legislation.
BTW these "miscarriages of justice" as one poster has termed these 3 cases presented happen all the time. Those "fetal rights laws" are meant PRIMARILY to target pregnant women and make no mistake: if there's a way that anti-choice folks can harrass and pursue women who had miscarriages, if there's a way they can treat them as criminals and put them in jail, then they will do so. Heck that's the POINT of those laws. To criminalize and punish pregnant women.
Vorting agaisnt Prop 26 is perhaps THE most important thing women will have to do in order to secure that they remain healthy, that their basic rights are respected, and that they keep control over what happens in their bodies, and for ALL women to avoid the potential of being treated as criminals for miscarriages. It's sad that we still have to fight to keep birth control legal, to keep IVF legal, and to keep the state out of our uteruses.
This video is horrible. It takes three very real miscarriages of justice and uses them to argue against a proposal that in no way, shape, or form necessitates those other gross misinterpretations of law. This video is an insult to logic.
I live in Mississippi and will be voting "No" along with many friends and most importantly, my husband! I am going against how my church wants me to vote. I am going against how my employer wants me to vote. This has to be one of the most vague pieces of legislation I have ever seen. It leaves open so many loopholes for judicial interpretation. I shouldn't have to go to TN, AL or AR for an IUD. That's between me, my husband and my doctor, not me and the government.
I live in Mississippi, and god forbid I ever get pregnant. I will fear my life and well-being! If I do not know I am pregnant and fall or get hurt, they will call me a murderer. I am working hard to leave this place!
Rise up and let them run themselves into the ground! FIghting!~
I live in Mississippi and I'm strongly against Proposition 26. Placing the life of a small bundle of cells over the life of a woman or a child who has reached puberty, especially a rape victim, is wrong.
Anyone who is thinking of voting for this Proposition, please think of the consequences it could have. Anything that could "abort" a zygote (fertilized egg) could be outlawed. That would even include standard birth control pills! This isn't about abortion alone!
Why does the government always want to mandate what women do with their own bodies. Hospitals always try to force you and intimidate you to have a Cesarean section.
@careyt What about birth control? You think its not appropriate for women and men to be concerned that we might be subjected to a law that could limit which types of birth control we can use?! How about miscarriages? Is it wrong for a doctor to perform an abortive measure then, to save the womans life? Ectopic pregnancies? Is it wrong for a doctor to perform a D&C then? These are all things that the majority of MS find acceptable and nothing close to abortion, yet will come under question.
@careyt Well why dont you anti-choicers try caring or respecting the life of someone else that is already BORN!
You hypocrits dont give a shit once they are out of a woma's body.. then you dont give a damn if they are sick.. and denied insurance and Die! you dont care how many women and children and fetuses are killed in our wars.. You dont care if innocent ppl get executed for a crime they didnt commit. You selfish bastards!
this is just more proof that people are seen as commodities, not individuals by our political leaders. forget the life of the mother, because a baby has more value in being able to be molded as saw fit for the purpose of production. They are playing a dangerous game that they will lose.
Women have all ready lost some say in pregnancy and delivery. Let's not give doctors and hospitals more ammunition to deny us our rights. When a man can push out a 7.5 lb. baby, then, just maybe, he can have a say on this issue.
@MultiDaniel56 i think if you vote yes, you will be voting on feelings. The truth is that this prop hurts women and the child. Put aside your own feelings and vote for truth as you said yourself.
The "Video Laws, Lies and Videotape" debunks this entire video. These cases are not about personhood. They are about hospital liability avoidance, helping a cancer patient deliver a baby she was fighting to bring to a viable delivery point before she died, and addressing a situation of reckless disregard for third trimester twins by a drug abusing (marijuana and cocaine) which resulted in the death of one and the severe medical danger for the other.
@sjspiehler Good for you honey. I agree, this is one of the most important things a Mississippian will do in their lifetime, man OR woman. We need to make a stand and let these people know we will NOT tolerate their interference in our reproductive health, we will NOT tolerate them inserting their religious views into governmental practices and we will NOT be pushed over the cliff by a group from CO who will leave us to eat their dust and deal with the can of worms they had us open up! Vote NO
Please see the American Life League and click on the "Laws, Lies, and Videotape" to see the whole story behind these deception of using these cases. Spend 7 minutes to learn the truth. Refuse to be manipulate by this propaganda laden and deceptive piece of tabloid journalism. Demand the truth, whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
The "Video Laws, Lies and Videotape" exposes and debunks this entire video. These cases are not about personhood. They are about hospital liability avoidance, helping a cancer patient deliver a baby she was fighting to bring to a viable delivery point before she died, and addressing a situation of reckless disregard for third trimester twins by a drug abusing (marijuana and cocaine) which resulted in the death of one and the severe medical danger for the other.
you ask a great question and from my understanding this would give the unborn child the legal status of being a separate patient to the doctor. Therefore the doctor would be obligated to save both lives if possible. If that is not possible, then they would save the life of the one most likely to survive. In most cases that would be the mother. This is a long standing medical practice that is legally and ethically acceptable.
@MultiDaniel56 What's wrong with that is that you cause undue delay in attempting to save a pregnancy that has gone awry and cannot be saved in most cases. If a doctor would even be CONSIDERING an abortive measure as treatment for a woman experiencing a problem with her pregnancy, there would be little doubt that the fetus cannot be saved. Delay and attempts to save the child take serious risks to the woman's life and is cruel.
@MultiDaniel56 - Amazing how many times you've posted. You're personal ideology should not affect other women in families in MS. Government should not interfere family planning and child birth. Please take your energy and put it to good use. I suggest looking at poverty & hunger, educational system , adopt one of the thousands of children that need a home, and make sure every child and family has access to health care. That's just for starters. We could use your vibrant spirit in those fights.
@MsAferrell I TOTALLY agree. The money spent on this campaign and energy and time spent to try to find ways to support it and get the public to back it COULD have been spent on something that would have actually helped our state instead of just potentially causing a GIANT legal battle for it.
@MultiDaniel56 Um, this is simply just not true. Death due to an abortion is relatively rare, you're more likely to get hit by a car on the way home. And to be honest with you, pregnancy and labor are FAR more dangerous to the mother than an abortion procedure is, its very risky to your health and life. I'm not saying that no one should ever be pregnant or have a baby, but your information isn't accurate.
@careyt Quite a lot of the people who are opposed to I26 don't consider themselves advocates of abortion. We're just not willing to cut off our nose to spite our face, so to speak. Outlawing abortions at all costs and not thinking things through before you start taking rights away from people is NEVER a good thing. You should do plenty of research on your own. Unfortunately, the information IVE found has led me to believe I26 will hurt more than it will help and Im glad so many others agree
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@MissIndianaJones83 I personally believe that abortion of any sort IS taking rights away from someone, the baby. There is no reason that I could ever accept for killing an unborn child. sorry, but I just do not agree with you and I support anything that moves us towards outlawing abortions completely.
@careyt How does that even remotely apply to what I said. I said that I26 stretches FURTHER than abortion into the reproductive lives of EVERY woman in a very holistic way. Birth control, IVF, how doctors treat pregnant women, miscarriage and dangerous pregnancy protocol will change. I'm sick sick sick of Yes"ers responding to my legitimate concerns with a simple "well, abortion is bad" comment. Its disrespectful and shows lack of intelligence and free thought. I need more.
@careyt You are not "taking rights away" from something that has never had them. You must be awarded rights first before one can "take them away". A fetus, in the U.S., has never been awarded any rights, so it is definitely not having them taken away. If we vote this initiative down, it wont be taking away the fetus's rights, it will simply be that we have agreed that we should deny them rights still.
@careyt BTW, its not a baby, its a FETUS which is a MEDICAL term to describe the unborn...its not defined as a BABY until it exits the womb. Let me ask you, once its born, its a freeloader, right? Since many of these fetuses which you're forcing to term AND/OR created bc you limited birth control, will be unplanned and will most likely be on welfare/food stamps/ etc. You only care about these "people" until they're born.....then they're on their own and they better NOT reach in YOUR wallet
@MissIndianaJones83 that is where we do not agree. I believe a person exists from conception and that ending that life should be illegal and we're just not going to agree on that.
if you want to believe that lie, then go ahead and wallow in your ignorance.
@careyt You are completely side-stepping the issue here. Its not so black and white, as you Yes on 26 people keep trying to make it. This is NOT a simpIe issue of abortion. It involves nearly EVERY level of a woman's reproductive health. You people are trying to turn the gynocologist into an Inquisitor and the obstetrician into a butcher!! I am SO glad that Mississippians are figuring out how dangerous I26 is and are actively speaking out against it. This WILL get voted out.
@careyt IGNORANCE?! Ignorance is believing that everything will be fine and only abortion will be affected "Because we said so" I am not IGNORANT for trying to get my questions and concerns answered and to gather information to base my decision on. I'm also not IGNORANT for expressing my opinions to facilitate dialog to gain those answers. You "Yesers" keep losing support from people bc if they ask any questions and want REAL answers, you call them names and insult them.
It doesn't matter what he or she is called before exiting the womb; they're still living people. Though the legal repercussions are extreme for Prop 26, I agree with the acknowledgement of the "fetus" as a person at conception. Now, when it comes to the mother's life being in danger (such as during ectopic pregnancies), I believe she and/or her family should have all legal right to choose what to do. The govt shouldn't control that decision
@futureBroadwaystar17 Fetus is the medical term used for the unborn, its only a baby (medically) after its born. Simple as that. Now, if you feel as if the government should not be involved in the decision making process of what to do in the case of a pregnancy complication, then you should vote NO on I26 as it most certainly will insert the government between the doctor and his patient in those cases as well.

How dare these supposed "professionals" who are really self made big shots with shit in their pants play God.
gawdawlmitey 4 months ago
@gawdawlmitey When does a fertilized egg become a person? God says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you," It sounds like you are a person before you are even conceived. How is it a sin not to allow a woman to abort, and not a sin to abort a child in the womb? Also, isn't it playing God when a woman aborts a life? I just don't think you are seeing the whole picture.
Bombshell205 4 months ago
@Bombshell205 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,"
But....what if you're not a christian and do not believe in anything the bible says? Aren't laws supposed to be for everybody.....and not just cator to one religion?
"isn't it playing God when a woman aborts a life?"
Isn't it playing god when a defibrillator shocks somebody back to life? Is playing god against the law?
clubindiana4 4 months ago
@clubindiana4 If you don't believe anything in the Bible, then there are also laws that you don't believe in like You shall not kill or steal. Also, where do you think your morals came from? Do you think it's ok to commit adultery? God gave us these laws so that we will live a worth-while life, honoring Him. God also gave us brains to use to create things like defibrillators and Hospitals. It's a shame some have chosen to use their brains to murder babies in the womb.
Bombshell205 4 months ago
@Bombshell205 Morals and commandments predate christianity......so, thats not really an issue.
Are you saying that non-christians should be forced to follow christian rules?
"Do you think it's ok to commit adultery?"
More importantly....is it ok to force my morals on another person?
clubindiana4 4 months ago
@clubindiana4 Morals and commandments may predate Christianity, but they don't predate God. Christianity started with the life of Jesus, but God spoke of all these things even before that. So, Yes, it is really an issue. Non-Christians follow Christian rules everyday, like I said, you shall not kill or steal. The US was founded on Christianity. I think if the 53,000,000+ babies that were aborted since 1973 could speak, they would say that someone was forcing their morals on them.
Bombshell205 4 months ago
@Bombshell205 "but they don't predate God."
They don't have to.....many people think your god is a pretend figment of your imagination. They're just not interested in your religion.
"Non-Christians follow Christian rules everyday"
And Jewish rules....and Muslim rules....and Pagan rules.....why should we give your religion favor over any other?
"The US was founded on Christianity"
No...it wasn't. Religious preference was intentionally excluded from our founding.
clubindiana4 4 months ago
@clubindiana4 because you may not believe that God exist, does not mean that He doesn't. I have faith that says He does, and I have experiences that prove to me that He does. God is the author of Jewish rules. Islam and Pagan rules came much later, and based much of them on those very same rules. The US was founded by Christians. Christianity if what led them through the founding of this nation. I notice you had nothing to say about those 53,000,000+ dead babies.

How do you explain that?

@Bombshell205 Since prop 26 was voted down this subject is moot. As for playing god, so many people do that on a daily basis. Since the bible was written by earth men, for earth men, to control earth men, who can really say if there is a god really? What kind of god lets the people he supposedly created in his image be so abused by assholes? Why do the assholes always seem to have the upper hand? And don't give me that crap about how god works in mysterious ways. Fairy tales.

@KindHrt77 I can't give you a link but I copied the text from a sample ballot:
Statewide Initiative Measure No. 26
Should the term 'person' be defined to include every human being from the
moment of fertilization, cloning or the equivalent thereof?
The Legislative Budget Office has concluded there is no determinable
cost or revenue impact associated with this initiative.

MsKBrennan 4 months ago
@tobygray There may not be any direct cost linked to this proposed law, but the costs of it will be very substantial. Medical malpractice insurance will absolutely go up, and so will the cost of health care for patients in order to offset the cost to health care providers. With a large increase in unwanted pregnancies, welfare and other government assistance will skyrocket. Every person in Mississippi will be affected by the economic repercussions of this law if it's enacted, that is a fact.

this has nothing to do with devaluing women. Not sure exactly why I am being asked that question, because it really makes no sense as to what 26 is about. 26 will define a baby as a person from the moment of conception that has nothing to do with devaluing women whatsoever
bmyers251 4 months ago
@bmyers251 Oh no? Google Rennie Gibbs . Google: Bei Bei Shuai; Google: Amanda Kimbrough! What about women who don't have / can't afford health care? bmyers251 4 months ago
ScarletAtheist 4 months ago

@ScarletAtheist A baby might have been alive in your tube, but chances are it wouldn't have survived. I am glad that you see that all birth control won't be outlawed as opposed to the popular lies. God gave us the choice of free will and you are more than entitled to your opinion or your beliefs. But if you ever do decide to accept Christ... my email is bmyers1218@gmail.com. I wish you well
bmyers251 4 months ago
@bmyers251 ...while I was on depo provera and no... I did not miss a shot. So far my IUD is ONLY form of birth control that has been effective and safe for me to use. ScarletAtheist 4 months ago
@bmyers251 also for clarification purposes, I was asking the original question to the people who claim to be completely pro-life and christians and against the amendment. @MsKBrennan Prop 26 has nothing whatsoever to do with 'anti-choice,' 'anti-woman,' or 'anti-democracy.' I understand that you feel strongly about your "right" to have an abortion, but there's no reason to resort to ridiculous hyperbole and lies.
anti-choice: Prop 26 gives choice to the unborn.
anti-woman: Prop 26 would cover both male and female unborn.
anti-democracy: Prop 26 is up for VOTE, so I've no idea where you pulled that from.
cazcow 4 months ago
@cazcow WTF!! What about the woman? What about her choice? Why should she be forced to give birth if she does not want to for any personal reason. Pregnancy and childbirth is not something easy.. It takes a toll on a womans body and can result in injury and death.. Why should a woman be forced to go through that pain and risk her life for a pregnancy she does not wish to keep? Its not your business! STFU!

Take a breath, realize the other side is not evil, and get over yourself. If you disagree about when life begins, fine, but disagree intelligently. Lying about the other side and slinging gems like "fucking retard" adds nothing to the debate and just makes you match the description of your own accusation.

splashy9 4 months ago 3
@splashy9 Has your frothing hatred of those who disagree with you blinded you to the point that you can't see how asinine your comments are? Simply because the popular labels are 'pro-life' and 'pro-choice' does NOT automatically mean the other side is 'anti-life' or 'anti-choice.' Someone who sees a fetus as a human deserving of rights, the right to life among those, cannot be anti-choice by wanting to protect the unborn. At best it's a wash, choice of mother vying with choice of unborn.

That being said, now is perhaps not a good time for personhood laws, if we still have such a culture of C-sections in our hospitals.
Szedg 4 months ago
@Szedg Sometimes a C-section is necessary. NO WOMAN should be forced into it. I had a C-section with my son. His heart rate dropped every time I contracted. I dilated to 5 1/2 cms after 10 hours, 11 hours later I was still at 5 1/2 cms at which point I was rushed in for an emergency C-section. They gave me pain killers but didn't give them enough time to take effect. It felt like the entire left side of my abdomen was being set on fire when they cut me open.
ScarletAtheist 4 months ago
These situations seem to have less to do with personhood laws and more to do with hospitals' attitudes towards delivering babies when and where THEY want to. Cesarean surgery means a woman spends at least a couple nights in the hospital, more money for them that way, too. Personhood laws are just an avenue by which hospitals can legally force women who can't otherwise be coerced to have Cesareans. Plenty of women are coerced every year; let's work on solving unnecessary C-sections!
Szedg 4 months ago 3

Giving fetuses rights in the manner outlined by Prop 26 does not necessitate the actions described in the video. To suggest otherwise is wrong and disingenuous.
1-Forcing rape victims to carry to term would still be akin to slavery, and thus wrong.
2-Not allowing life-threatening pregnancies to be aborted would still be a denial of basic self-defense, and thus wrong.
3-Not allowing VBACs with a reasonable success rate would still be an intrusion of one's freedom to parent, and thus wrong.
cazcow 4 months ago
@cazcow It may not necessitate it, but it does allow for it and clearly in other states it has.
ScarletAtheist 4 months ago
@ScarletAtheist If the law does not allow for it (which this one doesn't), then law enforcement officials and doctors who choose to ignore the law would be exceeding their power. That they *might* choose to do that is a poor argument against Prop 26, as you're assuming police and medical professionals don't care about the law. If that were the case, they could force these decisions on women now even in absence of new legislation.
cazcow 4 months ago
BTW these "miscarriages of justice" as one poster has termed these 3 cases presented happen all the time. Those "fetal rights laws" are meant PRIMARILY to target pregnant women and make no mistake: if there's a way that anti-choice folks can harrass and pursue women who had miscarriages, if there's a way they can treat them as criminals and put them in jail, then they will do so. Heck that's the POINT of those laws. To criminalize and punish pregnant women.
Skulander1 4 months ago 8
Vorting agaisnt Prop 26 is perhaps THE most important thing women will have to do in order to secure that they remain healthy, that their basic rights are respected, and that they keep control over what happens in their bodies, and for ALL women to avoid the potential of being treated as criminals for miscarriages. It's sad that we still have to fight to keep birth control legal, to keep IVF legal, and to keep the state out of our uteruses.
Skulander1 4 months ago 3
This video is horrible. It takes three very real miscarriages of justice and uses them to argue against a proposal that in no way, shape, or form necessitates those other gross misinterpretations of law. This video is an insult to logic.

you ask a great question and from my understanding this would give the unborn child the legal status of being a separate patient to the doctor. Therefore the doctor would be obligated to save both lives if possible. If that is not possible, then they would save the life of the one most likely to survive. In most cases that would be the mother. This is a long standing medical practice that is legally and ethically acceptable.
MultiDaniel56 4 months ago
@MultiDaniel56 What's wrong with that is that you cause undue delay in attempting to save a pregnancy that has gone awry and cannot be saved in most cases. If a doctor would even be CONSIDERING an abortive measure as treatment for a woman experiencing a problem with her pregnancy, there would be little doubt that the fetus cannot be saved. Delay and attempts to save the child take serious risks to the woman's life and is cruel.

Its false, noone will be hurt. More women have died because of abortions.

I'm not saying that no one should ever be pregnant or have a baby, but your information isn't accurate.

bunch of pro-choice liars. hope no one else falls for this manipulative piece of shit.

@MissIndianaJones83 I personally believe that abortion of any sort IS taking rights away from someone, the baby. There is no reason that I could ever accept for killing an unborn child. sorry, but I just do not agree with you and I support anything that moves us towards outlawing abortions completely.
careyt 4 months ago
@careyt How does that even remotely apply to what I said. I said that I26 stretches FURTHER than abortion into the reproductive lives of EVERY woman in a very holistic way. Birth control, IVF, how doctors treat pregnant women, miscarriage and dangerous pregnancy protocol will change. I'm sick sick sick of Yes"ers responding to my legitimate concerns with a simple "well, abortion is bad" comment. Its disrespectful and shows lack of intelligence and free thought. I need more.
MissIndianaJones83 4 months ago 3
@careyt You are not "taking rights away" from something that has never had them. You must be awarded rights first before one can "take them away". A fetus, in the U.S., has never been awarded any rights, so it is definitely not having them taken away. If we vote this initiative down, it wont be taking away the fetus's rights, it will simply be that we have agreed that we should deny them rights still.
MissIndianaJones83 4 months ago
@careyt BTW, its not a baby, its a FETUS which is a MEDICAL term to describe the unborn...its not defined as a BABY until it exits the womb. Let me ask you, once its born, its a freeloader, right? Since many of these fetuses which you're forcing to term AND/OR created bc you limited birth control, will be unplanned and will most likely be on welfare/food stamps/ etc. You only care about these "people" until they're born.....then they're on their own and they better NOT reach in YOUR wallet
MissIndianaJones83 4 months ago 15
@MissIndianaJones83 that is where we do not agree. I believe a person exists from conception and that ending that life should be illegal and we're just not going to agree on that.
if you want to believe that lie, then go ahead and wallow in your ignorance.
careyt 4 months ago
@careyt You are completely side-stepping the issue here. Its not so black and white, as you Yes on 26 people keep trying to make it. This is NOT a simpIe issue of abortion. It involves nearly EVERY level of a woman's reproductive health. You people are trying to turn the gynocologist into an Inquisitor and the obstetrician into a butcher!! I am SO glad that Mississippians are figuring out how dangerous I26 is and are actively speaking out against it. This WILL get voted out.
MissIndianaJones83 4 months ago 2
@careyt IGNORANCE?! Ignorance is believing that everything will be fine and only abortion will be affected "Because we said so" I am not IGNORANT for trying to get my questions and concerns answered and to gather information to base my decision on. I'm also not IGNORANT for expressing my opinions to facilitate dialog to gain those answers. You "Yesers" keep losing support from people bc if they ask any questions and want REAL answers, you call them names and insult them.

@MissIndianaJones83 "it's not a baby, its a fetus..."
The govt shouldn't control that decision
futureBroadwaystar17 4 months ago
@futureBroadwaystar17 Fetus is the medical term used for the unborn, its only a baby (medically) after its born. Simple as that. Now, if you feel as if the government should not be involved in the decision making process of what to do in the case of a pregnancy complication, then you should vote NO on I26 as it most certainly will insert the government between the doctor and his patient in those cases as well.
