Wow...I had three stars left to get that were really hard for me. This one, Dreadnought's Purple Coins, and Dreadnought's Secret Star. Somehow I beat this one, and then Purple Coins in one try, and then Secret Star in 3 tries...How the fuck did I do that? Ah well, now I have....WEEGEE!

Even if the yellow platforms didn't rotate in SMG2, there were exactly 100 Purple Coins in SMG2's Luigi Purple Coin Chaos. IN this level, there are more than a hundred which give you more options on how to capture the coins, making it slightly easier.

This was HARDER in mario galaxy 2 because of those shadow marios that kept chasing you

When you consider that the cosmic clone guys only follow your own path, and that moving or diminishing platforms limit your standstill time, it doesn't make it that much harder. The only time it would become a problem is if you insist on crossing the same paths multiple times, but the stage was designed in a way you could glide through without retracing steps.

I agree with LinksDarkArrows..... it wasn't harder in SMG2, IMHO, mainly because the yellow platforms didn't rotate. That added a whole other level of difficulty to it that the version in SMG2 didn't have.

And yes, the only serious obstacle here is the camera, especially when long-jumping.:

I have a pair of advice for who can't do it:

-Use The air-Combo Jump + Spin instead of run through the blocks: you'll save some blocks that will help when you'll return to the star.

-Try to fix the camera whenever you need it: it helps a lot when trying to Long-Jump and prevents you from doing that damnit ground pound (that killed me when I was about to catch the star ;_;).

Yes, you can take it easy because, thanks for the platform, you have to keep moving. I'm Re-doing this with Luigi, and It's a LITTLE harder, since he tends to stop slower than his brother Mario.

Whew, got it after 10 tries. Why is it in this game that often the only dificulty factor is the camera? What is the point in perfect camera controls if they are NEVER active during the missions in which they are most needed?

I remember watching this video a few weeks ago and knowing that I wouldn't be able to do it and boy was I right. I can't do the jumps either. I end up doing a ground pound into the mud or off of the platform. I get so mad. It's funny how different people find different levels hard though. I bet you found other levels hard that some people whizzed through. Personally, I found the dreadnaught purple coin level also annoying and hard but I did after about 20 tries. I can't see myself beating this.

Despite 100s of hours at SMG and being a semi-pro at playing it, I can't do the friggin long jumps at awkward angles for some reason. My brain and fingers won't do it. I tense up when I know a long jump is coming and I do a regular jump right into the oil slick and punch the wall. I finally beat it by doing it the hard way - hopping and jumping, only 2 long jumps in my pattern. Took me over a 100 tries. Much, much harder than any other level for me!

ya see, i at first watched loads of videos of this, and really didn't get why everyone found it so hard. then i tried it for myself... -_-; yeah, it's incredibly difficult. The time limit is irrelevant IMO, as you need to keep moving anyway. Those YELLOW spinny tiles are a pain though!

I got this star on my 20th try, blehhhhhh.... Somehow this is harder with Luigi, perhaps because he slides around so often. And you have to keep him running to avoid either sliding onto platforms you need for later, or into the dark matter of DOOM.... x.x

Still, I think Dreadnought Purple Coins and Lava Spire Daredevil is harder. They make me fly into an uncontrollable rage x.x

Somehow, I got the lava spire daredevil run on either my 2nd or 3rd try, and the dreadnought on about my 6th, but it's been about 30 tries on this for me, and my highest coin count is about 60. meh.

This level is hard at first, but with practice you can beat it. And use spin jump.

The hardest for me is dreadnought purple coins, gusty garden purple coins or cosmic luigi race in gold leaf. (Cosmic Mario is easier)
