My grandfather fought in the Korean War. He was just diagnosed with Altziemers. I plan to interview him and record it on camera, as well as all his stories and pictures that he has to preserve them for my children when I get older. Much respect. America Semper Fi!
My great uncle served in the Korean War, he's dead now...I wish I could have asked him about what he did and what he saw. My other great uncles served in World War 2, their also dead...Someday I might get to ask them again. Come to think about it, the only war my family wasn't involed in was Vietnam. This summer I'm planning on traveling to D.C. to see the memorials. May all the brave souls Rest in peace.
As an Korean America I thank all the men and women that made it possible for my family and millions of other families to live in a great country like the United States of America
Good stuff man. I served in Korea in 1988-89 in the 2 ID at Camp Greaves right up on the DMZ. Just glad to see that someone remembers the real hero's who suffered and died over there. God Bless
My 3 of my uncles fought in this war.Luckily all three came out alive and well.Exept that a boat my Uncle John blew up.He was floating in the water for a while
My grandfather served as an ROK soldier in the Korean War. My Uncle fought as a Korean Marine in Vietnam, unfortunately he died there, my father served as a marine as well, and now I'm following their footsteps
In this battle Colombian forces fought well but were overwhelmed when a full Chinese division attacked. Thus the 3rd Batallon had the dubious distinction of suffering the most casualties of any Colombian unit.
The 1st Batallon Colombia was assigned to the U.S. 24th Infantry Division on arrival but transferred to the U.S. 7th Infantry Division Jan. 23, 1952 when the U.S. 24th Division returned to Japan. The 2nd & 3rd Batallon Colombia also fought as part of the U.S. 7th Infantry Division. It is worth noting the 3rd Batallon was severely mauled in March 1953 when Chinese forces overran "Old Baldy."
The first of four Colombia Battalions — 1st Batallon Colombia -- to serve in Korea during the war arrived in Jun 1951 and stayed until replaced by the 2nd Batallon Colombia July 1952. The 2nd Batallon Colombia was replaced by the 3rd Batallon Colombia in Nov 1952. It was replaced by the 4th Batallon Colombia in Jun 1953 and stayed in Korea until Oct 1954. Each of these units had a field strength of 1,000 men.
Hello, my Grandfather served in the Korean War with the COLOMBIAN BATALLION. He was so humble about this, that I only knew he was a Korean War Veteran after his dead, when we found a medal among his belongings. He never talk to me about it. God Bles him because he was a good husband, a good father, a good soldier and a good men. I miss him a lot. Thanks for the video.
My grandfather recently passed away, and he never wanted to talk about the war. He didn't even go to some areas in Korea, because of the memories of his friends dying in front of him in those places. I didn't realize how big this was. I'm extremely proud of my grandpa, and will always remember him as a Korea Christian soldier.
@slipknot16323 Thats a good choice, I joined the Army and went to bootcamp the day after graduation. My dad was in the Korean War and I was in Desert Storm. Its the best thing I ever did in my life. It opened up my eyes to the world.
@DamnHippies1 there was small wars in the 1930's and 1920's also the only 2 wars in the 1980s was Grenada and Panama. young Americans? how about just Americans. lets not forget NCO and officers are not young and when you Join the Military your not a kid.
@pen24 it was VERY brutal my grand farther fought against the chinese, it was brutal..... but if your intrested in films i would recommend the film brotherhood of war.
Great uncle lost both legs with the Grenadier Gaurds in korea.Awful shame about all the chaps who werent as lucky as he was, but south korea is still free.
My Grandfather served in Korea with the "Fighting 45th" Infantry Division. Although he wants to forget I never will. Thank you so much it's about time people started remembering the "Forgotten War".
My neigbor went to korea war, and Japan war too, he is 85 now, most of the people he knew are gone now, in coming years, WW II will be like WW I, be forgot by younger generations. Life is short.
I know what you mean most kids only know the names of the wars, not what happened in them so they are forgotten, its sad, my Grandfather was in Korea, Hes 80 now.

@pen24 WW2 was just as brutal but more glorified and famous cause almost all of America took part one way or antother. Not the same in any war since.

I am saddened how few WW1, WW2 and Korean war veterans we have left. I find refuge in that Vietnam vets are still only in their 50's and 60's.
