  • shame he's shit now

  • its a gud try i would like more if he wasnt english doh

  • @ieyedmonster Pardon?

  • It's Mathew Tait, not Matthew Tait.

  • @travellingmansk someone cares a little too much eh..

  • @CratosCreations No it's not.

  • @kingdaniel69 Yes it is.

  • @jimmyzo3o No it isn't.

  • Cratoscreations. Hope you realize you're wrong. It's the Comm Games 2006 final. NZ won 29-21.

On a side note, the All Black Jersey isn't so sacred with white stripes on it huh? How dare NZ use OUR colour!?!?!?

  • @kingdaniel69 its Sevens not full rugby and England are using NZZ colour for world cup though haha ;P

  • @jameshigz Really it's sevens? I didn't know that, der!! Of course it's sevens as i already said it's the Comm Games 2006. Keep up the good work brains!

  • matthew tait = englands best 13.

  • @Scrum059 tuilagi.....

  • those kiwis got GASSED!!

  • @otumoetaipat To watch the video...

  • who is that on his outside?

  • Tait was a star player in 07 world cup final, but it's a shame I haven't seen much of him since. he's a good player

  • Tait over Tindall any day, with a 10 who plays on the gain line and a 12 who gets him the ball, Tait could be such a great player...

  • @yeahhhbuddy100 agreed! Tindall has experience and size but he has no speed at all now!

  • @matthewhortop And Tindall never passes either.

  • he is one of the more underrated players in the england squad. he should have been given more game time.

  • FCK Greate

  • Speed of a greased gazelle.

  • Comment removed

  • Run Forest Run.

  • @Josh7711Dub cos XV is a completely different game to 7s.... people score tries left right and centre in 7s from everywhere on the park. i mean kenya beat SA in 7s not so long ago. this isn't that great a try.

  • Is that Varndell running/jogging alongside him? Crikey, he is quickkk!

  • @timmyholland Yes, that is Varndell, and yes, he is bloody quick. Unfortunately he also has the rugby brain of a concussed eel, and so cannot pass, kick, tackle, or, strangly, run with the ball.

  • andyE844 knows absolutely nothing about rugby whatsoever

  • wat yr was this

  • @MrGingGongGing

    Commonwealth Games 2006 in Melbourne.

  • @asterix50bc thank you

  • lightning.

  • what a run!!! love mathew tait lol :P x

  • several? more like two....good try though...even if it is only sevens

  • even if it's only sevens? sevens is far harder than 15's. you have to be so much fitter, even though it's for shorter you work unbelievable amounts.

  • "its only sevens" as in there is much more time and space to work in, more gaps, less defence. Defence definitely has to work harder and players cover more ground in sevens but scoring a try like that is definitely much easier in sevens than in 15 aside where there is another 8 players in the defensive line

  • Geraghty, Moyne, Flutey, Clarke, Ashton, Foden.

  • corey jane - smell you later

  • Flood, Geragty, Cip - whoever is in form. Wilko lost a bit of distance kicking out of hand and he stands far too deep to make any good use of the back line, but his open play is still outstanding, making him an ideal IC.

  • I actually think it's about time for Wilko to start another life in England's 12 shirt. The management quite frankly is letting his reputation run ahead of him.

  • Thats not a bad idea.

Flood, Wilko, Tait, Sackey, Varndell and Armitage.

  • Christian wade should start for England, best young winger in the premiership(and not just because he is the fastest!)

  • Tait may get his chance on sat but lets not get too excited, this was sevens, v different.

  • I still don't understand why he doesn't start for Sale or England regularly. Both suffer from chronic un-creativeness and yet will leave one of the most exciting players out of the 22 or on the bench... madness.

At the moment England seem to win 50% games by grinding out a victory. If we won loads by stifling others creativity and the kicking game I wouldn't mind so much. But we don't! I wish we'd actually start playing positive rugby... =(

  • Agreed.

  • @plamicus

After being the closest to scoring and setting up a try, Eddie Jones talked over the air that he should play FB. The idiots in the management bought that idea and Tait did play this position to some success in the tour to hell in NZ 2008. When he moved to Sale ppl got so confused where he should play so everyone agreed to leave him at 13. Then injuries and disasters struck and MccAlister bended over backwards to cover the entire midfield (which changed my opinion on him)

  • @plamicus

I think Tait was pretty solid when he did start at 13 in the 2010 6N. We can't really make a fair assessment until he's paied with a 10 who doesn't stand 10 feet behind gain line, a 9 who would just make up his mind instead of screwing arounf the break down and a 12 who doesn't kick away possession without thinking 1 or 2 steps ahead. But to be fair Tindall does have the best all round game at 13 for England. Sometimes 13 can be a very subtle position.

  • @plamicus i think he was rushed into international before he was ready tbh and it ruined him

  • @plamicus fair point, but nowadays he hasent got a great chance of making the back 3 (ashton, foden , armitage/cueto) so maybe butting him inside tuilagi, half to tindall at 12 and half to tait??

  • Sackey is the perfect winger, unfortunately he has suffered from injury and whenever he does play he can never unveil his skills as he never recieves the ball.

  • Holy shit that tait is fast.

    awsome

  • varndell should be in the squad, hes more an all round player now and better than he was. monye's a given to be in the team, but sackeys defence is awful, and vainikolo jutsisnt good enough.

  • vainikolo is too hit and miss, you want consistent wingers, and monye and sackey give you that, varndell is not up to standard yet, he's a good try scorer and got blistering pace but his tackling is shocking, sackey and monye are both quick and solid

  • Should be in Englan team. Agree that Varndell and The Volcano should be too.

  • whats the volcanos name mate is it alesana tuilagi?

  • dont reli like monye either i rekon in rugby u shud mix it up n have streetle on 1 wing n vainikolo on the other i mean cumon every thing u want in a winger vainikolo has scores tryis can defend mashes people and draws men to him so others can use the space

  • sackey most overrated winger in the world he cant defend if u watch him with the ball and hes running at some 1 hell slow right down just be for the tackle point of that i dont kno.joe simpson as more gas than care n ellis he shud start been in amzing form streetle hopefullyon the wing with monye foden full back cause of injury with tait and j turner-hall in centre wilko fly half, stefon armatige shud be in as well thats the forwards

  • look at varndell on the wing, hes out pacing that NZ guy and it looks like hes not even trying. and great try by tait btw

  • i was on about a Sub FH. that other douche said cipriani

  • Compare an on form Ellis with Care, my assessment is:

Ellis and Care both have a lot of gas off their feet. While Care has better passing, Ellis has better game reading. Above all, Care needs to drop his habit of taking two steps before every pass. But after his come back from injury, Ellis cannot match Care in overall game.

Tait's injury in November was a blessing in disguise. Let's forget all the crap about him playing FB

  • pffff c du 13

  • my england xv would be

    9.ellis-care as sub

    10.wilkinson-cipriani as sub

    11.banahan-vainikolo as sub

    12.flutey

    13.tait-turnerhall as sub

    14.monye-varndell as sub

    15.armatige-foden as sub

  • elis isnt bad.. johnny is johnny... but i think flutey is crap.. tait is awesome how he dosent play i dont no.. monye well i wanted him to be good but he was so bad on the lions cueto is better than both banahan and vainikolo is so bad i cant believe they would ever let him play again

  • but i think we as the british, want vanikolo to be good...he would be like our version or Jonah lomu!

  • Lol, Care deserves 9 now. 10 has to be Flood as Sub. 11 has to Be Monye & 14 cueto with Sackey on the bench & 15 Armitage with Morgan as sub..

  • 9. ellis

    10. wilkinson

    11. cueto or banahan

    12. flutey

    13. tait

    14. monye

    15 . armitage

Wilkinson & Tait should start for england, tait has amazing pace and even tho wilkinson has been said to be not good enough anymore or to old he's still good and the younger then stephen jones and ronan o'gara

  • I don't think anyone can break the back 3 trio of Cueto-Sackey-Armitage yet.

Individually, they're good players, but as a unit, they're very powerful. They offer so much in defence and Cueto and Sackey have the sense to cut in field to look for work

  • Its a shame that Sackey has been dropped. Cueto for Experience & Quick Thinking - Sackey for Defence & Armitage for Pace such a great trio as u said

  • sackey cant tackle for shit, he jus has speed, a limited player thats why he's been dropped and rightly so

  • Comment removed

  • Cant Tackle my ass.. he was one of the best defensive wingers in the world during the world cup. and He can finish well. Sackeys better in defense then Monye although monye is faster. Sackey Honestly shouldnt of been dropped. Martin Johnson said he didnt perform well in the 6nations.. Most wingers dont perform unless there passed the ball!

  • are u kinding? on the field other players mock him cos of defensive frailness, and the world cup was 2 yrs ago tats a longtime in rugby. Monye is a more versatile player is better than Sackey in every way.

  • Don't forget mjameso that it was Sackey's tackle on Mortlock in the world cup that prevented Australia from talking advantage of a 3 on 1 overlap, saving a certain try and leading to england getting to the final.

  • 9.Care

    10. Wilkinson(Flood when W isnt fit)

    11.Banahan

    12.Flutey

    13.Tait

    14.Monye

    15.Armitage

    Subs... Cipriani(can play anywhere)

    Strettle.

  • yeh monye is better option on the wing actually, but stil i would back tait over noon. his defence isnt to bad. i heard somewere he was actually heavier than noon :S

  • i think the best england back line would be :

    9: ellis

    10: cipriani/flood or possibly barkley

    11: Cueto

    12: flutey

    13: tait

    14: strettle

    15: armitage

Tait has some serious pace and skills. Englands answer to o'driscol.

  • er what about ugo monye? Strettle is just a bit too small and fragile for international rugby.

    9:ellis

    10:flood

    11:cueto

    12:noon

    13:flutey

    14:monye

    15: armitage

this is because we need a bit of power in the centre (noon) because i think our back line has a lot of pace already. However if england are playing a team that could be exploited with a lot of pace in the centre, i would move flutey to 12 and put tait in at 13.

  • I stil back tait as a great player, he's obviously got natural talent and pace in abundance.

  • i too would like to see tait at 13 for england my back line would look something like this: Ellis Flood Cueto Fluety Tait JSD Armitage the worry would be tackling prowess in the center and the bloody annoying habit that our back three seem to have, where running with the ball seems to have been abandoned as a tactic
  • Would agree with that backline save 2 points. Cueto is not an international finisher. Sackey is. Flutey, would prefer to see Barkley, when he's back to form...

  • jsd?

  • simpson-daniels

  • yea hes electric i suppose

  • agreed i would love to see tait at 13 i think ellis is good but i dont think it'll be long before micky young gets a call-up

  • fluety is good in the tackle. cant make my mind up about tait he is quick but i dont no seems like something is lacking.

  • You're probably looking for someone who can do the hard work (like Tindal) and break the line.

Tait is actually heavier than Noon now, no so reason to think he will get run over or dumped.

  • flutey and tait would be so much better than noon or tindall who just try to batter there way through and never succeed

  • the reason he put tindall there is, tindall is a experience player capable of great defense and for the six nations a safe option but i do agree with you tait is the long term!

  • I wasn't convinced by Tindal until the game against Ireland. He did put in a contribution in every aspect of the game.

Thing is, Tin isn't slow, he just needs space to gather momentum.

Would have liked to see Tait come off the bench as OC, but then injury prevented that from happening. Still gathering essential exposure though.

  • i'd prefer hipkiss as tindals succsessor at 13

  • Hipkiss is good, but Tait has more pace.

Love to see them both picked on a horses for courses basis.

  • i dont think hes strong enough though

or has the defensive capabilities, i'd much prefer him on the wing with strettle, with morgan at fullback

  • this is a very big misconception!!

Tait is heavier than Noon and not a bad defender!!

He showed he could tackle from full back against NZ last summer seriously, his ability to run through a midst of mess means he's best deployed in the thick of action!!

  • Tait is just the best! I cannot believe johno put Tindall as centre when tait is way way way better :)

check out my matthew tait tribute vid if you want :)

  • a real gas man!!!

Oh, by the way, WHo won at Cardiff last week?

  • wales you dumb ass, who won the world cup? have you everycome near?

  • Oh that is a classic England supporter comment, lets think about what happened over 5 years ago. Sorry to say mate but most of those good players have left and you're once great captain has become a distinctly average 'Team manager'.

Oh by the way, Wales have come near to winning, 3rd place in the 1987 Australia and New Zealand World cup...pretty good for a country with a population of 48,000,000 less than England.

  • i dont really care if you have a smaller population and your team may be better at the moment when it comes to the crunch england will be better btw no1 remembers 2nd place let alone 3rd

  • yeah england! sayin that tho we are poor atm, tait should play!

  • Wales is generally lucky to make the play offs. Group stage exit being the norm.

Right now Wales are the best coached they have ever been and they are still too shit to do any real damage. The moment France turned on a little power you lost.

'05 and '08 coincided with two of the weakest Fra/Eng teams ever. Wales are shit.

  • Definitely one of the weakest teams ever in 2008, especially when England got to the final of the World Cup(2007) and France got to the third place playoff.

By the way, your name is pretty appropriate considering that you have written about one comprehensible sentence in your 'Wales are shit' bashing...please try and get it right next time, you're only making yourself look like a bigger fool than your limited vocabulary already does.

  • Weak in form. Badly selected and coached. Since 1990 England has comfortably had a better man for man squad as had France.

Since 2003 England has been freakishly unlucky with key injuries but mainly have been managed and selected by retards.

In 2008 we were way more dynamic than you but had some key weaknesses mentally.

No matter how good Wales have been in the last four years they have never been really good enough to do damage on the world stage. One or two home southern hemisphere wins.

  • haha, you're a typical englishmen who just can't accept that EVERY team has peaks and lows.

  • Racist twat.

England wins the challenge cup every year, the Heineken more than all the others. The talent the premiership produces exceed the other home nations,. The national side is shit. That is not the regular cyclic nature of rugby, it is mismanagement.

  • actually english teams(tigers and wasps exempt) have a poor record in europe, which is also made worse by the fact that the french couldn't give a toss about away games.the challenge cup is a total joke nobody cares about it in the slightest.

it is not mismanagement that the english national team is shit it just happens that they have no genuine world class players let alone lions players(dylan hartley/andrew sheridan excepted

  • i dunno this year the England team on its way back, we have a decent squad, we just need more dicipline and a decent effin kicker!!

  • Yeah I agree but I think we just need a more permantant fly half. I can see us winning the next world cup because we've got into that cycle, its exactly the same as the last time there was a mass retirement from the england squad, when we begin to gel, which will come from a constitant playmaker and captian I can see us thrashing everyone again.

Have to say well played to Ireland though, they did deserve it.

  • I think England has finally managed to pick a core of players to build on, so at least we aren't picking a team all over from scratch. Johnno has been talking up the team on their success, which brings them immense pressure but hey that's Johnno: never takes no for an answer, which is the thing we ask from him as manager in the first place

  • I wouldn't exactly say Wales are shit, I think they are getting better, as are all the lesser rugby Nations, Fiji nearly had a big upset over South Africa and Argentina while always being a strong team, put in it's best performance. I think a lot of countries are starting to improve their game and it is good to see, too many blowouts in group stages of the world cup. That being said, Wales did qualify automatically for the next world cup when Ireland didn't

  • No, perhaps not shit. But it is a comparitive term, I don't think Wales have the guns to trouble NZ, Aus or SA away.

My point is simply that England and France have flattered Wales and to a large extent Ireland. Two teams, which to some extent is due to the previous lack of talent meaning a few core players got massive experience levels now have a great opportunity to bring in youngsters successfully. Both are excellently coached. Neither have that many really world class players.

  • 9-care

    10-flood

    11-strettle

    12-JSD

    13-Tindall

    14-sackey

    15-Armatage

wilko and tait on bench :]

  • Why does everyone have Sackey on their team, hes fucking shit.

  • 9-Care

    11-Cueto

    12-geraghty

    13-Tait

    14-Sackey

    15-Armitage

  • My 9-15 team line up for the forthcoming Six-Nations would consist the following:

    9. Care

    10. Cips (you have to play him even though he's a c*ck!)

    11. Strettle (if not fit then Vainakolo or Ojo)

    12. JSD

    13. Tait

    14. Ceuto

    15. Armitage

Foden, Flood and Wilko as subs

  • clearly it should be

    9-Care

    10-cipriani

    11-sacky

    12-lewsy

    13-tait

    14-sacky

    15-armitage

  • 9.) care

    10.) ME :D

    11.)cueto

    12.)tait

    13.)tindall

    14.)vianikolo

    15.) armitage

  • 9-Care

    10-flood

    11-Cueto

    12-Barkley

    13-Tait

    14-Strettle

    15-Armitage

  • Agreed, although ojo is in good form. Clearly Vainikolo can't play. Got to be room for Simpson Daniel somewhere. Surely..

  • 9-Foden

    10-Cipriani

    11-Cueto

    12-JSD

    13-Tait

    14-Banahan

    15-Armitage

  • It's New Zealand - home of the Mighty All Blacks. And don't you forget it.

  • well the all blacks weren't so mighty when they got knocked out by france

  • Disagree. Sackey is absolutely rubbish in my opinion.

    9 Care

    10 Wilkinson

    11 Cueto

    12 Tindall

    13 Tait

    14 Strettle

    15 Armitage

  • I like to bring is Strettle but he's a bit light weight. How can you justify playing Tindal when he's a mile off pace?

    9.) Ellis

    10.) Wilko/ Geragty

11.) Cueto (why is he dropped in the first place)

    12.) Flood

    13.) Tait/ Hipkiss

    14.) Varndell/ JSD

    15.) Armitage/ Nicky A

  • agree entirely ith you on that!i don't see the fuss about sackey-he only has speed on his side. i would have

    9 Care

    10 Wilko

    11 Cueto

    12 Flood

    13 Tait

    14 Monye/Varndell

    15 Armitage

  • England back line should go like this....

    9 Ellis

    10 cipraini (wilkinson when fit)

    11 sackey

    12 flood

    13 Tait

    14 Monye (strettle when fit)

    15 armitage (Abendanon when fit)

    (i should really be manager!)

  • does 2 players equal several?

  • The poms like to over-hype everything. Case in point - Danny Cipriani. He's such a joke. Just like Mathew Tait when Gavin Henson embarrassed him on the field. You never saw him again in an england jersey after that.

  • Clearly you are not 'Mr.Current-Affairs'. That was 4 years ago and since then Tait has proven time and again he is a much improved player and now has 20+ caps for England.

  • yes you did. put welldone you have stated a fact that is incorrect

  • Yeah he did mate would you like photographic proof? I can take a picture of the magazine just give me your email adress and i will send it to you, I am actually looking at it right now, and you will see who the idiot is.

  • really? thats amazing although it doesnt surprise me. Is there any place to check if this is a factual record?

  • Well not really, but sort of as our school does a yearly magazine summarising the past year and all sport records and results are in and its in there, but maybe if you go type barnard castle school on google and then go on the school website it might be on there but i havent checked.

  • unbeleivably quick...especially for a white guy!!

  • hes one of my favourite players, tait has it all, pace, skill, vision and hes good defensively. give him ball in open space and he is very dangerous. saw hints of that on the new zealand tour. he should be given more of a chance at outside centre, an maybe flutey at inside and lewsey at full back. fuck balsahw lol

  • josp182 u ave taste exactly wat i want to hear except i wanna hear it from martin johnsons mouth now hodgson will never touch the shirt

  • The only thing lacking is a proper position to play in.

  • He's a 13.

For some reason England have told him to play 15.

  • Freaking Eddie Jones suggested we play in 15 in the press and somehow the RFU bought that idea.

I can't believe when it comes to the most pressing issues, they never respond to the opinions of fans that quick.

  • Outside centre is his best position in my opinion. Can work wonders there. Fullback he can't show his true potential and the few time's I've seen him on the wing, he hasn't been very effective.

  • wow very fast for a white person seriously never seena white person run like dat plus he cant play fullback coz he dont like it in dat position he likes outside center for

  • That's fast for any person mate. In another vid, he paces William Ryder, and he's fast for a black guy!

  • true

  • im pretty sure its under 11 seconds.

  • mat tait is a great up and coming player who can really benefit in the centers just like toby flood danny hipkiss, and jamie noon. but jamie noons career is quickly coming to a close. iain balshaw is not around much longer therefore leaving space for tait. mat is only 22 years old. or 21 dunno guessing he wont be gone any time soon. i think that wilko will be gone next world cup being replaced by cipriani, noon and flood or tait will be in the world cup wilko will prob captain unless nick easter

  • no r u stupid??? i think da captain will probably go to som1 like lee mears or borthwick

  • wat r u on?? borthwick will captain. wilkinson will be lucky to be around, let along starting

  • i think tht Mathew tait will deffo be put in the team 4 the next match england play

  • noons a beast but balshaw??

is tait fukin invisible or sumfin the way he always gets left out of the team??

  • It pains me to see such a talented and quality player being left out of the English team. The way he was treated after that Henson lesson was terrible. I'm glad he scored a try against Ireland, and hope he keeps up the good 7s work..this try (and his one against Fiji) is amazing!

P.S This is coming from a Welshman ;)

  • he is so good he should be fullback not balshaw

  • who r u 2 talk. Im guessing tht u r welsh and u just cannot stand the fact that tait is a much better player than the whole of the welsh team put together. And yes i mean the whole of the welsh team , even henson, shanklin and hook.

  • lol, whats Tait won again?

  • lol, what've wales won again? 6N? Oh wait.. who cares

  • The English it seems...

    XD

Anyway my point still stands, whats Tait done?

  • tait shud tie his shoe laces

  • you have to play noon, defence is best in europe at the moment, tait instead of knuckle head balshaw

  • Matt Tait is quality, that's about the best outside break you'll see anywhere in the world!

  • after balshaws performance against france you have to play him full back

  • u r so right!

tait has 2 make the team!

i don't care if they replace noon, just use tait!

  • even as a scotsman, i think, why the hell use noon? tait is faaaar superior noon is just a musclehead

  • its all about how they play on the night tho, did you see Noon vs. Ireland today, he was excelent, other times he may not be as good.

  • To be fair Varndell has improved his all-round game. He is not just very, very quick but also strong. He does make errors from time to time but he is still young. Tait should really be starting for England. But where?
