Adorable! I have a family of them living in the woods just behind my house. I don't dare try to get this close because I'm sure mama would move them. The kits are about this age...just starting to turn reddish. It's wonderful to stand and watch them from the edge of the woods or from my house when I can catch a glimpse through the trees.

Great footage you got. I found a den of 4 when I went to visit my mom last year. I got some great closeups with my camera (30D and 600mm) and had a really memorable experience. I was sitting with my wife watching and one trotted right up and sniffed my hand. It's something that will always stick with me.

Probably not a good idea, the dog we know now only came to be through hundreds and hundreds of years of breeding out certain behaviors, traits, physical characteristics as well as mixing breed results with each other.

You'd have to take really tame Foxes and breed them with other tame foxes in order to get a domestic breed over time.

In time and many generations, you would get a fox that was more like a dog, including loosing their "fox" color. But it is totally illegal in most states to take a fox and try to "tame" it. Only licensed animal rehabilitators have permission to take in a wild fox. It is not hard to tame a fox that lives outdoors, but it usually ends badly. My red-neck neighbor shot the tame fox that kept coming to my house for treats. I'll never do THAT again.
