To help answer your question about a library, the answer is "yes." They have an extremely high volumn of all the shows on video tape from the 60's to 1979 when the theatre exchanged hands. I work at RCMH for years on and off and learned from the best when it came to show production numbers. I've been after then Music Hall to make some kind of DVD of these great productions but i usually hit road blocks because of the music union. RCMH was a great part of my life since i was a kid. (now 62!)
@Bootboyrick Wow! Thanks for that info. I do sure hope they see fit to release them someday! Do you know or think by any chance, some of the organ solos were taped as well?
I'm so thrilled to find this recording of the RCMH Easter program. This is the first time I heard this music since being in the theater in spring of 1979. It's wonderful. If anyone knows of a CD release of this music, please let it be known. After searching high and low for many years, I found a CD release of the (original) RCMH Christmas music that was part of a compilation released by RCA some years ago. Thank you so much for posting this up.
I'm kind of stunned. As a life-long fan of Radio City Music Hall, I'm exceedingly moved and pleased at realizing that someone had the forethought and wherewithal to make and preserve a recording of these precious, classic RCMH performances. For decades I've wished their classic holiday programs could be made available to the public even if only in an audio format. I'm moved and most grateful for having an opportunity to hear this portion of their performance. I thank you so, so warmly.
@tonyny77 Your most welcome! I know my father made the 1978 Easter and Bach recordings as well as the 1978 organ solos. While I don't know who made the other recordings, I suspect, based on my father's notes and close ties with Ray Bohr, that he knew that era was coming to an end. Hence the recordings and preservation. I knew of these tapes for many years and once I got the equipment, I thougth it good to upload them here.
What great memories of the "Glory of Easter" show tape that you posted. I worked at the music hall on and off from the 60's-90's. I always worked the Easter Show. It's to bad they don't do that show anymore. If you have any thing else from past Easter Shows, please post them.
Thanks for your comment Rick. I only have 1 other recording of the same segment from 1978. The audio is slightly better and clearer at the end when the organ is played. Unfortunately some lady in the audience, not far from the microphone, is singing her head off---badly I might add. It's the only reason I didnt post it. If you really want to hear it, I could though.

I wonder if Radio City has a video/musical library to publish?

I can't begin to tell you how moved I am after hearing this piece after 35 years. It was a part of my childhood to attend Radio City for the holidays.
So very nostalgic!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
