For $.99 cents you can buy "Ghost Hunter M2".  It has a variety of tools. An EMF meter is one of those tools and it works great.

I do not think a magnetometer is an EMF detector. That aside I bought the app. It says EMF Magnitude 110uT, that would equate to 1,100 mili Gauss. So I guess I am toast. Sometimes it drops down to 40uT == 400mG, still toast.

So I suppose I have to buy a real EMF meter now....

i have an lg optimus t and the compass on it wierds out because of the magnetic feild sensor on it so u could use a compass and most compasses are free so...

Got a question. I tired to add this. When I did it tells me that I need a compass in order for it to work. What do I need to do to get one. Just download a compass to my apps? I have an iPod touch.

@congojoea The compass/ magnetometer is built in on the newer model iPod touch so the app won't work on yours unfortunately.

The 4th gen iPod touch and it doesn't have a compass so this app wont work. I have a 4th gen and I've tried.

I have this, works great and compared it with my REAL EMF meter on MANY tests including My Computer monitor, Microwave, TV, and wall area. All had the same readings but the iphone4 was more accurate.

I even have a SEISMOMETER app! the iphone4 is like a REAL Tricorder.

Nothing BS about it. It's based on actuall touch response and vibrations. Nothing random nor timed. I'd risk my paranormal reputation pulling crap like Ghost Radar. But I'm glad you question it. As you can see I only endorse apps that could work.

@hooman Yep. Cell phones cannot detect anything. It's just a 'gee-whiz' app. Pretty cool, though! I like the display. It would be nice to modify that screen into something useful. :)

most of the ITC apps like ghost radar and iOvilus are most likely bullshit, any apps out there that actually has a word data base and doesn't spill the words out randomly..

@hooman Gyroscope. You might be thinking of the accelerometers which detect tilt. The compass requires the magnetometer which is built into the iPhone 3G and newer I'm just not sure if the iPod model you mention has the magnetometer. That's why I say if it has the compass app from apple then it does have the capability as apple won't include that app if you don't have the magnetometer.

@daguy1234 unfortunately the Paranormal State app is fake or as the dev says "simulated" I only buy serious apps then remove the bogus ones like ghost radar and Paranormal State. I got tired if fake apps so I made Ghost Words which I say you may get nothing with but hey at least you're getting the truth from me. Hope this helps.

@kingrad01 nope... bought it today. Doesnt work for ipod touch but it works for my dads 4g phone. You need that compass thing that the ipod touch 3g doesn't have either.

you can set your phone to not turn off in your settings menu. So theres really no need for it to be built in to the app

EMF meters are TECHNICLY used by electritions to detect faulty wires in walls and other such electric stuff, it means Electro-Magnetic Field =EMF, however most paranormal investigators believe that when a spirit manifests itself, it focuses the energy in the air to manipulate objects or even form a spirit body, if the ghost is powerful enough
