Does anybody have an answer to my question?

At the first part of the solo, I place my forefinger across the G and B string on the tenth fret, then play from there, but whenever you play a single note on the B string, then a single note on the G string (without raising my forefinger), the notes always ring. How can I clear this up? In the video, the lead guy does the same thing I do, and it works just fine...

If i understand your problem correctly, the answer is that you have to tilt where u apply the pressure. you should be able to tilt ur hand/finger to where there's enough pressure on the b string to ring that out, but not enough pressure to where the g string would ring out... the g string would be off the fret board if ya get what i mean. and vice versa. practice it, it takes time

First problem, is that your playing in the wrong tuning. The song is played in C Standard. C,G,C,F,A,D.

Well Avenged used drop Db on Scream because the band wanted it to have a very dark sound, on almost easy they used drop Db because Matt had some kick ass vocals, but couldn't sing them with the guitars tuned to just drop D so they went a half-step down. Atreyu uses drop C for he same reason, because the singers cant sing that high, and it sounds heavier as well. Van Halen has the same reason for doing this. So there is a reason that they do it. Make sense now? =]
