  • The Hammond B3 organ in the hands of a great jazz organist is an instrument of God.

  • Isn't this "Chitlins con Carne"? Awesome :)

  • He makes walking bass with his left hand and puts ad lib line with his right hand ,both

hand work independently ,how does he get

this crazy skill ? genius !

  • This is american -Jimmy Smith- style.

McGriff, Holmes and other giants. Bass go with left hand but the quarter beats with foot on tonica sound. Plus added slides on peddles. (slow tempo complete bassline on peddles)

  • @1950110able Did you know that 'The Doors' did not have bass player?! what thay did have, is also a great keyboardist:D

  • Thanks for posting this fantastic vid. I like jazz organ but please forgive me I don't know the names of the musicians but I admire their amazing skills. Well done gentlemen.

  • If he doesn't loose some weight soon, we'll loose another great before his time!!!!!

  • hmm, "déja vu" (or "deja lu", rather)... and deja answered: his dad's as fat as he, and 70, and still playing like hell. so we're gonna hear from Joey D for a looooong time, I'm sure.

  • @krishotsaucemiller maybe without the weight he wouldn't be what he is. maybe.

  • poor person that has to follow Joey..... doesn't really matter HOW good you are :)

  • 1:46 - 1:55

so awesome yeahhh so jazzy i like it !!!

  • Why did Joey leave Hammond UK ?

  • Mit megadnék a teljes felvételért! Nem a minőség lenne a lényeg. Sajnos csak a hajón láttam őket.

  • Add tag &fmt=18 to end of the link for betterquality

  • Great Hammond 'grinds' from the Great Joey De Francesco I have known of Joey for many - since his days in South Philly

    Incredible talent! Forever De Francesco!

  • Joey's the baddest B-3 player alive. He can swing and swing and swing. Looking forward to his next 20 albums

  • I uploaded Legacy. Not swing. But rare of him.

  • Joey is defiantly a great organ player. I would like to seehim and Mt Man Tony Monaco On stage Together what a jammin session that would be Thanks KTF

  • Similar in Joey's Incredible CD with Jimmy Smith?

  • that would be great!!

  • isn't that chitlins con carne?

  • Can't really tell where he stops and the organ begins. Is he trying to become the same size?

Is this for the opening of a rollerskating rink?

  • swell: 888+perc+c3vib,last accord: full. great: 848+c3vib

July 2006 open air summerfest in Hungary, Veszprem, near lake Balaton. It was rainy day, therefore this day went into the sport hall.

  • Hilarious!!!!! He's an awesome organ force.... he's fuckin' huge too!

  • You hear all the little Jimmy Smith riffs he slips in there?? Sweet as...

  • he grow up listenin to jimmy....jimmy took him under his wing...joey once said in a live interview in 06

  • Thought it was Jack Mcduff

  • reputedly joey defrancesco inherited jimmy smith's cut down B3, built by Chuck Webb at Jimmy's request after Chuck repaired the 14 year old Bill Beer Cutdown, so twud seem jimmy smith too took him under his wing, and then let him fly

  • Joey's killin'!!!

  • This guy shreds on the organ - awesome!

  • it's chitlins con carne

  • I have always liked Joey and his program, he contributes to the jazz organ style by keeping it in the spotlight and showing great devotion to the craft; as an artist he is largely derivative however. I also wish he would lose some weight because its way bad for your heart.

  • And cut out the hemp too.

  • Neither; Chitlins con Carne, right?

  • all i have to say is incredible, all haters shut the f*&%$ up! this man is blowing my mind, Jimmy Smith is looking down, proudly!!

  • And how would you possibly know whether he's high or not??

    Just curious!!

  • The name of the tune is not open house, It's messin' around. It's from the Home Cookin album.

  • Similar, but not exactly Messin' Around. Open House is more similar (i think, and Joey sad) but this tune is our way.

  • The guitar player started to play "messin' around"... But after that Joey started playing "open house".

And for those who know, there is a part where Joey quotes some notes from the song "blues for J"...

I really like his B3 style...

He's the bebop (virtuoso) side of organ jazz...

  • Sorry... It really is Chitlins con Carne. :-)

  • He's high!!!!!!!! But he's killin!!!!!!!

  • Outside of my #1 music gospel, Jazz is next in line! And between Jazz organist, Joey D. & Tony M. they are my all time favorites!!!-thanx

  • It's the great Guitarist Jake Langley too! Gotta check him out elsewhere on you tube and the web, guys! Lovin' it!

  • great!!! thanks.

  • thanks for posting this, unbelievabally, the best vid of him on youtube. People will always find something wrong with someone when they feel less competent than them.

  • joey has definitely taken the torch of jazz organ to another level. bananas!!

  • freaking effortless. this man is my idol.

  • Hey can play. Too bad he's gettin as big as a house.

  • Joey is the man

  • viszketnek az alsó manuál alsó billentyűi -> megvakargatja. kegyetlen...

  • Joey is so good, thanks for sharing tehtube. (And I really like your playing also) I was fortunate enough to see Tony Monaco at Indianapolis at the Jazz Kitchen. Will never forget it. Joey and Tony are good friends.

  • The Hammond looks like an A-100. Beautiful sound. Beautiful jazz phrasing and effortless high speed playing. Joey is the man!

  • Yes, i wrote into the video options the instruments.

  • actually the tune is "Messin Around" from JOS' "Home Cookin'"

  • Yes, approx. the first track.

  • Yeah, it's great to see some "behind the scenes" stuff like this. Thanks for sharing! Joey, you're the best

  • Great.

  • I push the buttom to fast. I want to say: Great to see a rehersal like this. Joey is playing so sweet.
