McGriff, Holmes and other giants. Bass go with left hand but the quarter beats with foot on tonica sound. Plus added slides on peddles. (slow tempo complete bassline on peddles)
Thanks for posting this fantastic vid. I like jazz organ but please forgive me I don't know the names of the musicians but I admire their amazing skills. Well done gentlemen.
hmm, "déja vu" (or "deja lu", rather)... and deja answered: his dad's as fat as he, and 70, and still playing like hell. so we're gonna hear from Joey D for a looooong time, I'm sure.
Joey is defiantly a great organ player. I would like to seehim and Mt Man Tony Monaco On stage Together what a jammin session that would be Thanks KTF
reputedly joey defrancesco inherited jimmy smith's cut down B3, built by Chuck Webb at Jimmy's request after Chuck repaired the 14 year old Bill Beer Cutdown, so twud seem jimmy smith too took him under his wing, and then let him fly
I have always liked Joey and his program, he contributes to the jazz organ style by keeping it in the spotlight and showing great devotion to the craft; as an artist he is largely derivative however. I also wish he would lose some weight because its way bad for your heart.
thanks for posting this, unbelievabally, the best vid of him on youtube. People will always find something wrong with someone when they feel less competent than them.
joeyhas an album with jake ximo tebar jimmy brunohe is in contract with concord records playing with the old cats on cd legacy and organic vibes there is a cat in pittsburghwho plays b3 gene ludwig he,s great
Joey is so good, thanks for sharing tehtube. (And I really like your playing also) I was fortunate enough to see Tony Monaco at Indianapolis at the Jazz Kitchen. Will never forget it. Joey and Tony are good friends.
The Hammond B3 organ in the hands of a great jazz organist is an instrument of God.

Mit megadnék a teljes felvételért! Nem a minőség lenne a lényeg. Sajnos csak a hajón láttam őket.

Great Hammond 'grinds' from the Great Joey De Francesco I have known of Joey for many - since his days in South Philly
Incredible talent! Forever De Francesco!

Can't really tell where he stops and the organ begins. Is he trying to become the same size?
Is this for the opening of a rollerskating rink?

The name of the tune is not open house, It's messin' around. It's from the Home Cookin album.
devdlindsay 4 years ago
Similar, but not exactly Messin' Around. Open House is more similar (i think, and Joey sad) but this tune is our way.
tehtube 4 years ago
The guitar player started to play "messin' around"... But after that Joey started playing "open house".
And for those who know, there is a part where Joey quotes some notes from the song "blues for J"...
I really like his B3 style...
He's the bebop (virtuoso) side of organ jazz...
