Perhaps I wasnt clear but my point was that every animal alive today has 3.5+bn Years of evolutionary history behind them, regardless of species.Due to human ability to adapt our surroundings to suit us, our selective pressures are perhaps dulled. Couple that with interbreeding over history and the collapse of geographical and isolating barriers (global travel etc) perhaps we are diverging less right now?

But for divergance (speciation) of the human 'races', surely they would have to be isolated from each other and subjected to differing selective pressures over very long periods. I dont see human speciation happening in the short term, perhaps we will become more homogenous over time. Interesting stuff but who knows what the far future brings?
