The audience probably wouldn't dance even if it was quieter, either to "make a statement" or to try and be as pretentious as MBV, if there is even any difference between the two. @precinct Shoegaze is a genre. It's My Bloody Valentines own take on the 'noise' genre, making it into a dreamy, loving sound, unlike the hard brooding sounds that Sonic Youth and the like. If you read a little bit you would've discovered it is a genre.
