@TheMaccis There are two main ways to make a server, one is through a programme called "Hamachi" which all of your friends will need to get in order to connect (you can find some more information about that online). The second is to forward your port. You do this by going into your router settings and allowing either port 25565 or port 80 to be forwarded so people can connect. Once you forward the port your friends will connect with your external IP, which can be found online.
