@3000legolover Move the bar to the right. It should be there. But I'd recommend that you follow the new tutorial for blender 2.5. That one is a lot easier and has had a few fixes.

That sounds strange. I have never encountered that. Is the entire video upside down or just the letters?

@Ballyweg no, the entire video came upside down, so what I did to fix it is that I used a flip upside down video filter, I am using Ubuntu 10.10 and my video editor is avidemux gtk+ 2.5.3, looking around the net founded that it is a bug.

gladly enough the video filter did the trick!

Good tutorial, but I get stuck on the very last step. When I hit F3 to save, I cannot figure out how to save (or view, for that matter) my rendered AVI. How do I save it?

To render, press F10, make your desired video settings (or leave it be), choose AVI format. Click Anim and wait for a few hours. Normally it renders either to C:\renders or to "the folder where you saved the .blend file"\renders. To check it, open up the blend file and press F10. Then look at the bottom left and take a look at the first directory under "Output".

Do you know what edition of python I should use for my Blender. I have Blender version 2.6.2 on Windows 7. I've tried installing pythons such as 2.71 but the menu keeps saying "no python found".

Or is the python software necessary to make Universal introduction without compromising quality.

All of my tutorials can be done without python without comprimising any quality, as blender is using builtin plugins, and these projects only need the builtin ones. If you are interested anyways, I am using python 2.6.2 and it is working fine.

@TheJackiechan512 hey man i had the sme problem, but i found out you need the same version of python as blender so if you have blender 2.6 you need python 2.6. Although you really dont need python for this video tutorial only scripting for games and more difficult things is python needed. You probably already know this but im letting you know again lol, happy blending.

This is a common issue in Vista/7. Just open blender in admin mode (right click, run as admin) or save to a non-admin location like User\Documents (you can change output in the output field on the left side of the render page)

Pressing animate will start rendering the animation (your CPU usage goes up). Then, the black screen should slowly start showing parts of the logo.

Normally it renders either to C:\renders or to "the folder where you saved the .blend file"\renders. To check it, open up the blend file and press F10. Then look at the bottom left and take a look at the first directory under "Output". Thats where you should look. It can also happen to render into the user directory.

To use the video e.g. edit it or watch it, I recommend encoding the large file with a program like XMedia Recode. Recommended format is DivX AVI.

One question though, if I want to replace the globe with another object at the exact same place but I want to keep the globes rotation, how can I copy that onto the new object?

Well this sounds odd. Try changing the frame number with the keyboard arrows instead and see if that does it.

I made my own Universal Logo about 2 years ago, and I just want to change the text I originally used to something new.

I followed your instructions (making sure the text is pink then hitting "tab") but when I hit "tab", the text becomes yellow and warps around the globe slightly.

Look at the the command line (the black window). it says "Rendering frame 1..." and so on. If you haven't changed the frame settings, the video renders 600 frames.

It depends on how you rendered (what format). Easiest way is to either: 1. Import it into Windows Movie Maker and Save the video file "for computer". 2. Use XMedia Recode to convert the video to something usable.

Download XMedia Recode and convert the movie file to, say AVI or MPG or WMV. They are sure to be read by Movie Maker.

Use the MP3 you downloaded together with the .blend file (link in desc) and user any movie editing program you want. The easiest one is Windows Live Movie Maker. Just put the video clip and the sound in there and render.

You can move the text easily by selecting it with RIGHT MOUSELICK and then move around either by holding the right mousebutton or by using the arrows of your keyboard.
