I loved every second of the Ghost King, until the last two chapters. Those last two chapters are the worst things RAS has wrote. Nothing in all of the legend of Drizzt is quite as ruinous to the story as those two chapters. I still loved the book, but I hated the ending.

@nolooloo3 Everything that you said was true. What's very interesting is that R.A. Salvatore is bringing Drizzt further from his beliefs in the next upcoming novel, where he starts to question his loyalties and beliefs. It should prove to be an excellent quandry for a character such as Drizzt.
@ICPjug90 Tom Bomdadil, physically,wasn't in either of the films. But, in the extended version of The Two Towers, there is a deleted scene where Treebeard rescues Merry and Pippin from the Old Willow and sites one of Bombadil's lyrics that were sung to the Hobbits in the actual book. So Peter Jackson and his crew did at least have the heart to incorporate him into the trilogy without it ever feeling misplaced or random.
I strongly believe that this series proves that every conflict we face in our lives has more than one solution towards success, and that we can't succeed without giving blood, sweat, and pain.
sojourn was actually one of my least favorites not to be a dick. it just didnt flow as well as some of the other ones and the story line wasnt as intricate. my favs are homeland and the crystal shard. the newer series with jarlaxle and entreri was also very well written. drizzt rules peace
I understand where you're going. I liked it because it spanned a decade in Drizzt's life and introduced characters that felt like they had something to live for.
It wasn't part of the books, but if you think about it, it could have happened in between some of the books, because they got married, and in one of them Cattie-brie keeps Drizzt from going to see her 'father', and seduces him.
she doesnt seduce him the sword tries and makes her "Do" him. And it doesnt happen he basically pimp smacks her shit and then she runs off for a month and learns to weild the sword...
They will make a game if they make a movie about it, you know, there can't be a book right to a game unless it goes through the movie phase.... they are making the Streams of Silver, supposed to come out in 2010
Streams of Silver isn't gonna be a movie. That short film they made, which was directed by Ruben Martinez, was just an example of what can be used to make an actual film based on Drizzt. My personal opinion would be that the series is extremely complicated to bring alive through live action, But LOTR was brought to life, so I've got some faith towards this project.
I think they should make a movie trilogy based on The Legacy, Starless Night, and Siege of Darkness. Lol, the epic war of Mithral Hall and Menzoberranzon in the Siege of Darkness would be ungodly amazing.
id love to see them take the drizzt books and turn them into movies but there are more than twenty of them and, altho theyre all amazing, i dont wanna see it turn into like james bond where drizzt is a different actor in every other movie

the only thing i dont understand is why they never made a game out of drizzt, to me it seemed obvious with the sucess of baldurs gate 1&2 and icewind dale they could have made an obscene copius amounts of money very quickly (something everyone needed back then) and their was no lack of storys to chose from, hell they could have made all the books into games and made even more money yet somehow it all just slipped by, it even looked like they had the copy right.
As I said, he only hinted at Cattie-Bries death. He was talking about The Orc King prologue and how he left the state of the other companions out of it. He said, to my best recollection: "...I didn't say Wulfgar was dead. I didn't say Regis was dead. I didn't say Bruenor was an old dwarf living some where. I didn't say Cattie-Brie was killed by a draco lich..."
So it's entirely possible that she'll survive, but I doubt she'll live through the Spellplague.
There's no way Cattie-Brie dies. It would ruin the whole series, plus with Drizzt just getting over the death's of the two elves who's names I can't spell, he'd probably go nuts and jump off of Kelvin's Cairn or something! Great vid btw, 5/5.

The Time of Troubles was 1358-1359 Dale Reckoning. They take place during 'Siege of Darkness' in the 'Legacy of the Drow' series. He's 61 going on 62 at the time.

Still, you are probably right about the swordplay bit; although, I don't think Salvatore's really written anything as of yet where Jarlaxle actually goes into combat... Could be wrong.

Besides that, he is actually around 70, if I recall... I believe they retconned the age or something. Also, Wulfgar is a great character, but I'd root for Drizzt anyday... And besides, Drow women are scary! XP
I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, actually; ina one-on-one fight, I think they would be at least evenly matched. Entreri is quite goo as well; unfortunatly, unklike Drizzt, he's aging, so he's getting progressively worse, whereas Drizzt, being only... 70 or so, I think, is effectively in his prime, and will remain in his prime for quite a while.But, Jarlaxle strikes me as a powerful combatant; he'd have to be to start an all-male mercenary group among Drow without being killed.

Well if that was the case, then why did he fall in love with her? They've been together for a couple books now. Besides, he realizes that she's mortal and that she'll die during his lifetime. As presented in their conversation before he leaves after Tos'un in the Orc King, Drizzt is in love with her and will willingly place his life for her until their time together is gone.

no he does not. I'm going to set the record straight for any further questions. This is a video representing Drizzt's devotion to put his life on the line to protect those he cares for. THAT is what I mean, not anything about an actual death in the series. (however techincally he does die by entreri, but that is a fleeting thing b/c he is brought back by one of jarlaxle's partners Rai-guy)
the new one,"the orc king" is actully set in the future from "the hunter's blades trilogy" because forgotten realms has moved to 4th edition and i guess Salvatore either wants to keep up, or, he he has to write it that way.

There's no way Cattie-Brie dies. It would ruin the whole series, plus with Drizzt just getting over the death's of the two elves who's names I can't spell, he'd probably go nuts and jump off of Kelvin's Cairn or something! Great vid btw, 5/5.

The Time of Troubles was 1358-1359 Dale Reckoning. They take place during 'Siege of Darkness' in the 'Legacy of the Drow' series. He's 61 going on 62 at the time.

Still, you are probably right about the swordplay bit; although, I don't think Salvatore's really written anything as of yet where Jarlaxle actually goes into combat... Could be wrong.

aye u find out what truly happens between Drizzt, Wulfgar, and Catti-brie in the very end of The Two Swords (if you pay attention) and in The Orc King it is plainly spelled out when Wulfgar and Catti-brie go to Silverymoon.

Besides that, he is actually around 70, if I recall... I believe they retconned the age or something. Also, Wulfgar is a great character, but I'd root for Drizzt anyday... And besides, Drow women are scary! XP

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, actually; ina one-on-one fight, I think they would be at least evenly matched. Entreri is quite goo as well; unfortunatly, unklike Drizzt, he's aging, so he's getting progressively worse, whereas Drizzt, being only... 70 or so, I think, is effectively in his prime, and will remain in his prime for quite a while.But, Jarlaxle strikes me as a powerful combatant; he'd have to be to start an all-male mercenary group among Drow without being killed.

Well if that was the case, then why did he fall in love with her? They've been together for a couple books now. Besides, he realizes that she's mortal and that she'll die during his lifetime. As presented in their conversation before he leaves after Tos'un in the Orc King, Drizzt is in love with her and will willingly place his life for her until their time together is gone.

Oh and I sort of dabble in writing myself, kind of made up my own little fantasy universe with influence of such writers as Salvatore and Tolkein but you don't see me mouthing off about how great it is and how its the best thing since the alphabet was invented without any prior feedback whatsoever, making a total egotistical ass of my self. no he does not. I'm going to set the record straight for any further questions. This is a video representing Drizzt's devotion to put his life on the line to protect those he cares for. THAT is what I mean, not anything about an actual death in the series. (however techincally he does die by entreri, but that is a fleeting thing b/c he is brought back by one of jarlaxle's partners Rai-guy)

the new one,"the orc king" is actully set in the future from "the hunter's blades trilogy" because forgotten realms has moved to 4th edition and i guess Salvatore either wants to keep up, or, he he has to write it that way.

I though someone will get angry at me for saying those words that Drizzt is poor looser, but I was ready for it. I will tell you that I myself wrote a book (about 300 pages) about my character and I think I've got better history than him. Seriously, D. is like a god when he fights and have such low level... For all this I like his father more than him -_-

but i'd never make the pompous claim that i'm a better author than salvatore, or that my character was better than drizzt.salvatore is a master of fight scenes in fantasy fiction, and i doubt that you are better.
