so does the mic come with a usb or microphone jack for your computer? I want to buy it for recordings, but I'm not sure if I need to buy more than just that and the shock mount.

I am telling you what I thought to sound best in my advice, I never said anything about having to use the mics how I say. All I am doing is simply demonstrating how each of them sound and what I thought sounded good. Thank you for clearly pointing out the mics main intentions.

@kuledrumergie87 Actually you'd need to power it. If you buy the Lexicon Lambda (about $125) it provides phantom power and a preamp.

recordinghacks shows the 991 with the same size diaphragm as the 990, while the 990 seems to use a different capsule to boost the lows.

@slashoasis156 they are good mics, i recently upgraded to the Sterling Audio ST55. For first mic(s) mxls are bomb! also the mxl 770 is a good one too
