This one was taken with Sony PCM standing 1-1.5 meters from the piano. No editing except "spacing" between pieces. I think less editing is better unless you can do it professionally... and I can't!
Some older ones were recorded from the concerts - mostly using DAT recorders. Nothing fancy for sure! ;)
@truecrypt Sounds more than good enough! I'm thinking of making my own recordings and posting them on YT as well, so I was just wondering. Keep up the good work!
Indeed perfumed playing, thank you very much! And very nice combination with Čiurlionis paintings, as he was a also composer himself his paintings are so musical. I wonder if Čiurlionis ever heard of Scriabin's music...
Čiurlionis would be happy to see how beautiful combination his paintings and Scriabin's music make together, even if it's not his own compositions!
Bravissimo, Andre. You have such an affinity for this music. You were meant to play Scriabin's music. It's a great joy and privilege to listen to this recording. Bol'shoe vam spasibo!
D flat major -- A flat major -- G major -|- G flat major -- D flat major -- C major...
Astonishing! What always strikes me in Scriabin is that there is always strict logic, a plan in the composition, even if it doesn't sound that way at all when you hear it for the first time...
Listening in HD. The first prelude is yet more languid and erotic in spirit...simply exquisite. Very Scriabinesque! The remaining pieces are all played with exquisite taste. Andre...I can't describe it in musical terms, but this version of the set is sinful and delightful, charged, and yes, delectable. Bravo, Truecrypt!
Btw, one small thing: in no. 4, the top melody...are you sure there is a slur (liaison) on the first b in bar 10 and the first a in bar 12? I think it's better to play them, would sound more logical maybe...
You're absolutely correct - technically speaking those notes are NOT tied and should be played.... but I can't make myself to do it. I can swear to God Scriabin meant tied notes. Those chromatic steps shouldn't be interfered by needless repeat of the same note! Even more - leaving it tied makes those notes sound exactly on the level they should. I tried many times to play them and it kills the whole picture. I have to check different editions - should be tie! ;)
@truecrypt Maybe you are right, and they ARE meant as tied notes... especially when you play the first b and and the first a a *little* louder, they can really "melt" or "fuse" into the other chord nicely!
In no. 1, maybe also some arpeggio signs are missing? For example the first chords in bars 20, 21, 23 etc should be arpeggio I think. (the appogiatura and arpeggio in one movement)
Andre, thanks to you I discovered these pieces, I've been playing no. 1 all evening, it's exquisite! ;-)
@truecrypt Then Sir Erwin and I are agreed that this is the best of the three takes! (:-D) I am thrilled that you have added these preludes to your channel and I shall hasten to add them to mine!
truecrypt is probably the best living pianist on earth... that I have heard..
