  • I think I'm a mule. Boy, do I hate school

  • Deserving of its 'Best Original Song' Oscar.

  • i did this song in chorus haha...lol!

  • we have 2 sing this song in chours

  • Comment removed

  • Let's hope Bing Crosby music, and his videos live up to 20,000!

  • My grandmother who died sang this to me when i was little :*( made me cry

  • Anyone know if any of the "boys" (in quotes because they're now all in their 70's) did any more movies/singing? There are quite a few characters in that group.

  • love it.....

  • Andy Williams is one of the kids (along with his two brothers).

  • what's sad is these kids are old enough to be our grandparents

  • heh, that kids got crazy eyebrows

  • @ZEVM2 Yeah, he makes us laugh every time we see the movie. So cute !

  • My great grandma was born in bing crosbys house but he lived there when he was a baby

  • This is wonderfull!

I'm only 16, but I've listened to these tunes all my life. But this song is special. I grew up hearing Bing's voice crooning me to bed... Haha, truly great memories. :-D

  • @Philokrates04 hi I listened to this song so much I love it

  • I'm watching this forum to see what direction it takes. Videos have been around long before MTV they were just produced for different venues. Whether they were musicals in the 30's to beach movies in the 60's and shows like the Monkees or Archies we have been surrounded by them. We'll all have different favorites. Here's my 1st contribution.

  • Little lulu brought me here

  • An American original, with a voice like gold, personality that engages, and a wonderful actor.....Bing was /is the compete package.

  • amazing. really, bing crosby is easily the best singer in history. He did something new that nobody had really done before. Jazz was a dirty thing in the 20's and bing crosby sort of decided he would go ahead and do his thing. Thank GOD he did. Clearly bing crosby has a better voice than frank sinatra, but frank sinatra is still amazingly talented and better than any of todays' singers. Long live frank, bing, dean and all the rest.

  • @xbarbiefacex Crosby was one of the first to make use of electric microphones and was therefore able to "croon" instead of needing to use full voice to reach the back of auditoriums. Also he was a good friend and student of Louis Armstrong, both of them smokers of marijuana. Bing was also instrumental in the development of magnetic audio tape.

  • thanks for sharing this magnificent music.cheers!!

  • Cool song. Bing Crosby's star status is unquestionable so don't worry guys. White Christmas will be a song that will last a long long time, as long as humanity holds good spirit in mind.

  • Dang, I've been in politics for 25 years and just realized that I grew up to be a jumped up slippery old fish inspite of my advanced education.

  • 1:40 tolkien?

  • Hard to comprehend that these kids are now 75 - 80 years old

  • Why did Ethel's husband pop out of the curtain at the end? :)

  • Bing was educated by Jesuit priests at Gonzaga prep in Spokane, Washington.

  • I love this song and what a beautiful voice Bing Crosby had. I have always enjoyed this movie-"Going My Way". There aren't any singers like him today-you can actually hear every lyric. My generation has missed out on a lot but it's great to see this on youtube because it just helps the classics endure longer.

  • Bing Crosby is one of the all-time greats.

What an amazing talent he was.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • sinatra was and alway's will be great but BING stand's alone as a music legend...

  • im all those animals and still love the song. not funny

  • my dads uncle was one of the boys in the chorus, he's the one with bright blonde hair in the back row right behind bing crosby. (:

  • Appearing in this scene, although I can't figure out which person it is, is the members of 'The Williams Brothers' including a young Andy Williams. Reference Internet Movie DataBase ( IMDB ). The Williams Brothers were also on the recording of this song which Crosby made.

  • e mule???

  • im related to Johnny Burke

  • what's great about this video are the kids singing. ethnically, brilliant! maybe not today but in the 1940's to have a black kid singing without the racial stereotype?

thanks and i remember that when i was a youngster in the fifties- you didn't have black cops or any black star who wasn't a token-

  • CLASSIC!! Thanks so much for posting this. Its terminally cute in some ways, but its somehow refreshing and "honest" in ways simply not seen very often in these decadent times.

  • I remember by dad singing this too me when i was little<3

  • Rise Stevens, the woman in the video, was a famous opera singer in her day and is still alive and in her late 90s.

  • A great lesson to stay in school and better yourself, regardless of race, color or creed. See the children in the choir.

This song inspired and helped me through grades K-8, H.S., university and MBA. As true a song today as when I started. Thank you to who posted this small treasure.

    A grateful listener.

  • This movie was made in 1944 Bing Crosby won the Academy Award.

  • I've never really seen much of Bing Crosby before, but I've just started to get into him via Bob Hope and their films together, I've never really rated Frank Sinatra, Bing had alot more talent and comes across as being much more comfortable in front of the camera too.

  • @Dazman1313

Can you love Crosby without humiliate Sinatra? He prevents you from listening to Crosby? Why? You can not buy records, DVDs? Or do you suffer because someone loves Sinatra too? Crosby's voice was stronger than Sinatra's. But I love Frank more. And I don’t want to compare their talent or voice. It's stupid. They both deserve love.

  • he's way more handsome than sinatra. ;)

  • 10 bucks if you can spot Andy Williams ;)

  • Can never get over how awesome his voice is

  • @tropforward yeah in his prime here. angelic voice

  • dig the racial harmony in the choir ...

  • @allabouteatvideo I dig the racial harmony. When this came out I'm sure there were many that said, those damn 'hollywood jews' promoting mixing of the races!

  • Ah, when music was entertaining as well as educational

  • I like him very much, thanks.

  • @youngwarrior10 Yes, Carl "Alfalfa" Switzer played the character Herman Langerhanke in 1944's 'Going My Way'. But he was uncredited. Not sure why.

  • My mom and I love to watch this movie together :)

  • what is a mule?

  • the ten people who disliked were mules

  • how far back does this date?????

  • honestly how did nine people dislike this? doesn't make sense.

  • this song was 1st on Billboard when Little Boy exploded in the skies of Hiroshima

  • I Call it casual cool and that's why we all love Bing. EVERY Generation loves Bing!

  • How can Tony say that Carl has a great bass voice, from the our gang 'Alfie was clearly soprano...not even close'! That's how I'll remember Carl singing...soprano!!

  • theres a little asian boy! =P im proud!!! haha

  • Carl Switzer should have been shown in this scene, because he is the 1 true crooner!

  • now you can skip all those self help books and lectures......

  • Riese Stevens was a mezzo-soprano/contralto with the Metropolitan Opera Company. Going My Way was one of her few forays in motion pictures. It wasn't her medium. It shows that one can be brilliant in one entertainment medium, but that it doesn't always translate well to another medium. Crosby was an exceptional performer, who could do practically anything with characteristic ease, but he couldn't have succeeded in Grand Opera. Even the greatest of singers had his limitations.

  • @MrBobbybrus I love Riese Stevens! Her voice was wonderful and some operatically trained singers did actually do well in movies such as Jeanette McDonald, Diana Durbin & Lily Pons. Even the sensational Yma Sumac was in movies and her voice was out of this world (multi octave singer)

  • My comment was not meant as a criticism of Ms. Stevens talents. She was an artist of highest calibre, an icon in the operatic world, and a great champion and ambassador for opera in general. But movies were not her venue, and I think she would have agreed with that statement. Going My Way is a great movie and Ms. Stevens as a player in that film did nothing to diminish its charm. I agree wholeheartedly with your other comments. Thank you for your response.

  • haha so many mini tony montanas

  • Incidentally, Bing Crosby was a baritone, the deepest male voice. He was also a ragtime jazz singer before he got into "crooning"... So who was better, Crosby or Sinatra? The answer is obvious... Frank Sinatra was still a teenager when Bing Crosby had been world famous for 20 years, and Sinatra idolized Bing Crosby. Sinatra himself admitted that NOBODY was better than Bing Crosby.

  • Bass is the deepest male voice, and Crosby was a baritone of wide range. Crosby was acknowledged as the greatest singer of his era, but that title was influenced by many factors such as his personality and easy popular charm that was evident in his radio and movie career. Bing was loved and that popularity prejudiced the perception of his voice. Artists such as Russ Columbo, Vaughn Monroe, etc. may have been technically better. Columbo was set to eclipse Bing had he not been tragically killed.

  • @ZeskoWhirligan ahm, correct me in case, but i think the deepest male voice is bass, isn't it?

  • @Middlesexful "Basso Profundo" AKA "Bass"

  • Comment removed

  • @ZeskoWhirligan Frank Sinatra was not always a teenager, he grew up, surpassed Bing Crosby and he became the best singer in the world pushing in the shadow of the former idol.

  • @ZeskoWhirligan It's not about who is better than another, it's about talent, pure unadulterated talent. Bing Crosby had his type of talent that cannot match nor be compared to Frank Sinatra, and vice versa, considering their music style are not even on the same plane of music.

  • @ZeskoWhirligan I agree with you, but the deepest male voice is bass.

  • @ZeskoWhirligan You ever hear of shapeshifting? She's a railroad lady, just a little bit shady. Bend me, shape me, any way you want me. Every which way but loose.

  • @ZeskoWhirligan Baritone is absolutely NOT the deepest male voice. That is my only complaint with your comment, though.

  • I know i feel like i missed out. I totally feel like should have been born about 1920!

  • I remember my father sing this song when I was a kid

  • Crosby was great, his name was Bing.

Elvis is the greatest..thats why his simply known as the King !

  • I used to be in love with Frank Sinatra, but then I saw Road to Morroco. I fell in love with Bing! His voice is so rich and smooth! I do still love Sinatra, but I have to say: Bing has won me over! I love this particular song! Bing had something I dont think anyone can come close to, maybe Sinatra, but I don't think anybody else had or ever will. Dean Martin was good but when compared with Bing, I think it is clear who was better.

  • I simply adore Bing.

  • yeaaaa

  • i must say that i do believe that tis is the best song eva!

  • What (lovely innocent) joy. Goosebumps.

  • ‎(◠‿◠)❤♥••.♫♪♫•☆¸¸.•*¨*•♫*•.¸

  • My school's primary choir is singing this and I play it on the piano.

    ITS STUCK IN MY HEAD!!!!!!!!

  • @Jacobrester so your taste in music ranges from crosby to Elvis? thats only a variety of ten years, not what i would call fairly educated. screaming jay hawkins is the incredible singer who sang "i put a spell on you". bing cannot perform, he gives the ham facial expressions but he doesnt move, he just sings in a strong deadpan croon. very dull and crusty. but hawkins never grew stale. by the way you should listen to bob dylan and the band for real brilliance, or some 1930's ragtime blues

  • @elstroshitnonstop Bing Crosby was singing and recording ragtime jazz and blues when it was NEW, back in the early 1920s. Bing hung out and performed with the Mills Brothers and Louis Armstrong in the 1930s. Bing only started "crooning" in the late 30s and 40s, but he could still get up and ACTIVELY PERFORM right alongside the biggest comedians such as Bob Hope and Danny Kaye. In the late 50s, 60s and 70s, Bing went almost entirely to television, and almost entirely to Christmas TV specials.

  • Wonderful song, although I can't help but wonder who is the mafioso entering at the end.. :P

  • @neosyp - The first guy is William Frawley, who played Fred Mertz on I Love Lucy. In this movie he plays a music bigwig who buys that song from Father O'Malley (Bing Crosby). It's a great movie. If you can find it you should watch it.

  • @NevadaHawkeye It is out on video and it always plays on TCM around the holidays. Great movie

I sing this song to my grandaughter when I rock her. She loves it.

  • IM SO GLAD THEY COULD RECORD MUSIC OR WE WOULD NEVER HEAR THIS! it'd be that freaky man gaga!

  • be awesone if they had a group back in the day like the ratpack in the 50s but with bing, ella fitzgerald. louis armstrong. bob crosby who agrees

  • I was totally born too late! This was the best musical era. I love this kind of music.

  • I LOVVE YOU

  • First studio recording of this song was feb.1944

One of those boys is Andy Williams

  • Lol, why he's having reverend's suit oO

  • @HerrKszekosz This scene was taken from the 1944 award winning movie, "Going My Way", in which Como played a parish priest.

  • 2:21

    Is that William Fwarley?

    David.M

  • @puupydoger yes it is.

  • this is so adorable and heart warming.

    bing we love you :)

  • we did this song in my middle school chorus

  • Bing Crosby is my great uncle :D

  • There should be cartoons with songs like these! Man, I wish I lived back then =]

  • i listen to this when i'm depressed

and go from this :( to this :D

  • This song is soo true.

  • and all the monkies are not in the zoo . .. how true is that! In Britain we vote them into government! :) Great wise ol song sung by the maestro himself.

  • I agree the music today leaves much to be desired, not good to dance too either.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I'm 15 and his music is just amazing!Nothing like the terrible music they make today

  • I believe it says "It is a pity that Crosby is not as well known in Russia as Sinatra (probably promoted less)."

Truly, a superb voice !

  • @littlestuffedbull That's essentially what it says.

Sinatra was still alive, performing, and popular when U.S.S.R. dissolved into various countries in the late 1980's, while Crosby had been dead for over a decade. That might account for his being better known.

  • @littlestuffedbull

It's a lie. I'm from Russia as well. Frank Sinatra mostly has ill fame (mob, shameful affairs, politic scandals) among the people in the street in Russia. Genuine amateurs of good music love of both.

  • @KuklaVoskovaya da sooka! tee pravilno!

  • @KuklaVoskovaya Bing Crosby był luczszyj ot Sinatry i zyl ranszee.

  • @KuklaVoskovaya

  • @KuklaVoskovaya

  • @KuklaVoskovaya

  • It's Alf.

  • I sing this song in my schools chorus, and its rhythm is very different

  • I love the kids eyebrows at the begining ^^ aha

and I love Bing so muchh, I wish music was more like this today ~

  • Fabulous video--love to sing along with it, Mitchell Boys Choir very talented. I also sing Toora Loora, annother good song. Love the movie.

  • god how do you think of a song like this now adays songs are just words without meaning junk this has real tastes

  • @MrKiraofdarkness This song is from a classic movie "Going My Way" it also won an Academy Award (the song that is) and also an Oscar for Bing Crosby. (Best Actor)You are so right this song has class and good taste. It certainly is not junk. Have a hot dog day and thank you also for sharing.

  • its from Bells of St Mary,

toora loora was from going my way

  • @crazieevilkittie Thanks for sharing, and have a slam bang day.

  • @crazieevilkittie No, actually this isn't from Bells of St Marys, it is from Going My Way. Both this and Toora loora were in it.

  • I'm only THIRTEEN and I think this music is better than all that rap stuff! :-)

  • @DisneyBlackJet So true, it is nice to hear that some one who is thirteen likes this music--rare these days. Thanks for sharing.

  • my dad and I used to sing this when I was little. Ahhh the memories

  • The lyrics actually teach you something.

  • They dont have any entertainers in this day and age with the musical talent that Bing Crosby had, he was 1 in a million. He can whistle & hum better than 90% of the popular musicains today. He was the Elvis of his time.

  • Now this is a song about personal responsibility. Amen!

  • check the eyebrows out on these boys when they sing

  • @rusty44mag as funny as it is, i really do think it helps to sing the higher notes :P

  • I personally believe Bing Crosby is the greatest entertainer ever.....and his professional stats bear it out....yes he is more impressive thanEllvis and the Beatles

  • @Jacobrester absolutely not. bing had a great voice, but there are no performers like black musicians- screaming jay hawkins is at least one who blows bing off the stage

  • @Jacobrester - Different time, different era. Crosby was the the best for that time period.

  • @Jacobrester Plus, he also beat his kids. That's always a big plus.

  • @TheSpiritOfTheTimes who didn't smack their kids in those days?

  • @TheSpiritOfTheTimes The best thriller of that era was a movie called The Bad Seed.

  • @Jacobrester Maybe less competition in the Cross-bee days?

  • @Jacobrester He was one of the greats but I dont know how with stats you validate you point honestly. The eras were too far apart.

  • love that song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Worthy of its Best Song Oscar.

  • Yes, it's great!

  • @cute678ful me too, see my comments above I sing it to my grandaughter all the time.

  • Can't help but be reminded of the sitcom "Out of the World" that used this song :)

  • i sang this song for my choir back in 7th grade!!! favorite favorite!!! hahaha

  • I love this song I sing it to my grand daugher all the time. She loves it and so do I.

  • Bbb-b-Bing! He was a great singer and actor. Always made me want some orange juice in the morning. And I doubt very seriously if they found the Shroud of Torin in his time capsule. I heard it was recovered years earlier on Elvis' person. Apparently he had run out of adult diapers and well... ya know.

  • Bing Crosby was and is the greatest entertainer to ever live......yes his accomplishments exceed Elvis and the Beatles. So few of the kids today even know who he is.

  • i'm 15 and i love bing crosby. this movie is amazing.

  • @tabitwin I am happy to hear that you know who Bing is. I loved watching his movies growing up. Ask your parents to rent more of his movies....for example....."The Bells of St. Mary's" ...and i tell you....if you like comedy.....watch Bob Hope and Bing Crosby and their ROAD MOVIES......they made about 9 of them together....you might start out with .....The Road to Morocco

    Good Luck

  • @Jacobrester Glad you like Bing Crosby, the best of the road pictures is Road to Morocco, I like that one also. You may want to rent or watch White Christmas also an excellent movie. It is usually on televison around the holidays. Take care now.

  • I found a set of eight Bing records at goodwill. excellent condition. i love them so much!
